Service has been amazing and it lives up to being free. LTE speeds are good and the phone is perfect.
Would recomend this to anybody

I started out with SIM card service Unlimited Calls and Texts and 1GB of free LTE data with them. 12 month SIM card for $49. "No credit card required". If you use up your data, then you cannot call or text as they deactivate your phone until the next billing cycle begins. So I added a credit card and then the phone did not deactivate--however then they charged a $10 top up charge, even though I had automatic top ups turned off, and then said that we manually authorized it, which we did not. I was willing to let the $10 go, but then he next day was charged $122 for a "new plan" that I "selected" for 2GB LTE data/month. They charged me $12/month for the balance of the 12 month period all at once (July of 2020). I wrote to customer service (because you can't call them) and told them there was an error and that these were unauthorized charges, and that I wanted my credit card removed and the charges refunded, and my 1GB plan to continue once the billing cycle renewed. They said no, the charges were authorized, they were non-refundable, and if I took my credit card off the account my service would be cancelled completely. Because apparently, I am supposed to leave it on there, in case they make up more charges to charge me for, and then tell me that those charges are also non-refundable.

The problem began when I ordered one SIM card over the internet. Next thing I know I was sent two SIM cards loaded with bigger plans than what I ordered. In addition, they had charges that were not specified. They nickle an dime you for every little thing and use very lawyer language to confuse you. Their web page is deceptive! When activating one SIM card I realized how clumsy their website was. I ended up being charged about $159 for 1 month service of unlimited calls and text and 1G of data. In addition, I could never receive calls. I researched the issue and there are tons of people on the internet with the same problem and they do not post a solution anywhere but avoid the issue all together. When I looked for costumer service they had none. I later found out that they charge $59 extra per year for customer service. I could only use a web page to communicate with customer service and it did not work half of the time. The agents did not resolve anything other than taking me round and round the issue with no solution because they where not knowledgeable about anything. They are only there to say they have customer service. I called my credit card and contested the charges. I then tried another company. But was outraged even further when they could not port in my telephone number because I did not know my actual account number/PIN number (it was reported in their web page but hidden in a hard to get place. AT&T and Red Pocket both said FreedomPop was reporting that the number was "not elegible for porting" and there was nothing they could do because they were not able to talk to anybody directly and it was not clear what the problem was. Upon hours of research I found out that I was not the only one with this problem. I finally emailed them to an address I was given by Red Pocket and copied the FCC commissioner. I demanded that my number be released. They answer giving me the same information I knew but said that the only thing that had changed was their address. When I gave my new company that information they tried porting the number again. But this time they said that apparently my number is being held by a company called "Onvoy Wireless" (unknown to me). I still have not resolved this issue. But I hope that this is enough to give this FRAUDULENT COMPANY a rating of ZERO!!! THEY ARE TAKING ADVANTAGE OF A LOT OF PEOPLE. FOR EVERYONE THAT COMPLAINTS THERE ARE PROBABLY HUNDREDS THAT DON'T...

Please never take any offer from them. I purchased their sim cards then later transfer them to free plan, and they weren’t free at all. I bought two sim card ( bought the second one by accident) but the second one never came. At the end they took me 40$ total and was planning to take more and it wasn’t even a month yet. There is no customer service support chat. I called the number which is supposed to be their customer service number but at first no one answered then later they hanged up for every call I made. I wanted to remove my billing information because I couldn’t cancel my plan ( it keeps failing for canceling for both sim cards) but I couldn’t remove my paypal. At the end I had to call my paypal to inactive payments for them. There is no email to notify you anything, no announcing fee at first.
Update: I was finally successful at canceling plans and disputed 40$. So there is nothing to fix anymore, but your service made me gone through a miserable time, so I’ll not change anything about my review. Hope you make it better in the future.

This is a scam. They say it's "free" but then they take money out of your account 6 months later.

Fraudsters. They withdraw money from your account, each time they connect paid services without your knowledge.

This is more a warning to anyone who is being tempted into a free sim service.
You will not have a great experience!
Their forums are still littered for the last few years about people canceling their free account and still being charged.
I was hit by this a few years ago. Was being charged for 2 months after and they only refunded one month "due to no usage"... a "good will gesture".
These guys are scammers. Avoid at all costs

EDIT: well was able to get a refund, still waiting to see if the hotspot will ever work again
so far my hot stop has been disconnected from service and they once charged me for top up credit and suddenly it wont even use the top up creidt i have so that was 8$ wasting away and one support person told me how to reactivate my top up again and instead it charged me 20$ AND IT STILL WONT CONNECT SO I STILL CANT USE THE HOT SPOT OR THE CREDIT I WAS TRICKED INTO BUYING and my first ticket on the subject is gone and deleted cause i guess who ever "Milyn" is couldn't handle my questions of why wont it work is there a limit? and now "Ivan" is tricking me into buying more top up that wont even work. "how to activate expired top up"="press this button so we charge you more for something you cant even use and wont help you fix it" its been a disaster and probably the worst customer service i have had to deal with so far I WANT A REFUND OF THAT 20$ THAT I NEVER MEANT TO SPEND AND NEVER SHOULD OF SPENT i have tickets in now and will update this if they ever mange to help me but im not holding my breath with how terrible its been so far

So I stand by everything that I said. Even though I was contacted by someone because of this review while I am ignored or lied to on every other contact method with STS Media Freedompop. The person asked for my account info then replied "credit where credit is due" and gave me reference numbers which turned out are worthless. To date I recieved a partial refund on only one of my accounts. So to conclude I was given 1/5 of the total money I paid to them back! I paid for 1year of service on 2phones. I have only recieved 6 months. To keep the phones on ill have to pay again to Ting or switch to redpocket or some other and pay. Ting caim my service will expire Aug 06. FreedomPop will not refund the money i paid them for service for 2 phones through december. In fact they claim because their parent company sts media inc sold them that they are no longer the same company therefore do not owe me anything. FreedomPop sold accounts to Ting and now claims that Ting is solely responsible. Ting bought the accounts but claim FreedomPop should still take care of any money paid to them. Both companies claim the other is who should take care of me but neither will adress the theft of my money. It is my perspective that both companies are unethical at best; at worst criminal. All I need is either continued service for the time Ive already paid for or a refund. It seems it should be such a small amount to a big company, but its the difference in whether I (the irrelevant previous customer) can afford my cell phone or not. STS Media Inc, dba Freedom Pop is who took the payment from my bank account. I guess on a technicality they dont exist anymore so noone is responsible to the sprint phone customers who were dumped.

Decent product, truly awful customer service, particularly from Ivan and Wayne Myers.
Further, cannot cancel on the site as it does not work, and this X-Mobility company who provide their MVNO services are even worse

Paid $175 over the course of three years for data carryover on my mobile hotspot, had a ton of data built up. Then last month they pulled the rug out from under their users on the Sprint network by announcing they were dropping our service, and although we could sign up with Ting, we would lose all our prepaid and carried-over balances. NOT COOL.

They ripped me off. I have two SIM Cards from them and they charge me for no service as they don't work. They have bad customer service and no one to contact. They are big scammers. They can't help with anything. Poor service. I don't recommend anyone buying off them for a SIM Card.

Once you pass your limit on your data usesage they charge your card that you put on file.
Here’s the deceit: I turned off my data useage and my account still said I was using data while I was connected to WiFi. They charged me $20 bucks from my account and had the audacity to e-mail me with “To cover any Pay As You Go charges, our Automatic Top-Up feature will fund your credit account $20 the first time you get within 100MB of your monthly plan capacity limit. You can turn off this feature at any time.”
I cancelled it right away. Be cautious of anything that’s advertised as “100% free”.

I've been working with the reps at Ting to try and port my FP number to Ting and each time it keeps failing, says the information is incorrect, this was the port out info and PIN provided by FP: First Name: FreedomPOP_INQT , Last name: FreedomPOP_INQT. FreedomPop is in apparent violation of FCC rules that require phone numbers be portable and eligible to port out. Inteliquent, the company that really owns and actually controls FP's phone numbers is telling Ting they are not even receiving the port request from them so something is not right here. If people start losing their FP phone numbers by the Sept. 3 deadline to get new service with either Ting or Red Pocket I am sure class action lawyers are going to get involved very quickly.
"Your FreedomPop or Unreal phone service has been suspended and you're about to lose your phone number forever. This is your last chance to take us up on one of two exclusive offers.
To try Ting go to ting .com / freedompop.
To move your number to another carrier, first confirm your details at ting .com / freedompop.
To cancel your service no action is required and you will not be charged.
If you do not take action by September 3, 2019, your phone number will expire with no option for recovery."

Tried out for the FreedomPop free plan. Got my sim card but was never able to get it to work in any devices. The day after I received the sim card, I was notified that my credit card would be charged over $116 for 6 months service. I tried numerous time to downgrade to free plan, and also tried to cancel my account. Every time, the downgrade or cancel failed. Then FreedomPop tried to charge my credit card. I disputed the charges and reported them as fraudulent charges to my bank. Customer support has yet to respond to my issues.

The installation and set-up was easy, and the phone worked properly following a FreedomPop software update. Just remember that phone calls use data - not just minutes. So keep an eye on your data usage!

When I signed up for their $0.01 sim card, I made sure I didn't select any service that requires service charge so I would get only their "free" basic service. No matter, 2 weeks later, they charged my credit card for $36.61, no idea what it was for. To add injury to the insult, I haven't even started using the sim card that I received. Even worse, when I put the card into my phone to try to use it, the supposedly pre-activated sim card is NOT active. I had to active it. Again, in the activation process, I made sure I didn't select any service that requires service charge so I would get only their "free" basic service. No matter, few days later, I found out that they again charged me for this activation as a new line of service with some "premium" service that I never selected. Now, there are 2 lines of service that they are charging me for the bogus "premium" services that I have never signed up for and never used a single minute of it. All started with that one single "$0.01" SIM card.

I placed an order for a hotspot on June 5th. I've never received this device. Today, June 19th, i was billed $38.10 for services on a device that I've never received. I would like to cancel my account and have my initial $9.99 as well as the recent $38.10 charges refunded promptly. Thank you

Absolute scam! Don’t fall for it! SIM cards don’t work and they charge you for services you aren’t getting. No refund policies and no costumer service other than bogus email responses that’s it’s your fault for not deactivating. Even though you can’t, the system denies your request to cancel account every time. Atrocious and unacceptable business practices to steal money from people.

So - surprisingly - 100% free Freedompop is not actually free. In fact during the activation you get many screens that offer you all sorts of things 'free'.
They need your creditcard for a $1 activation fee. But during the activation they also took $42 from my bank account, supposedly for a free LTE trial that I do not need. And on top of that you can't cancel and you won't get your money back. No matter if you complain or not.
Downgrading to your 'free' plan will cost you $20 for incidentals, non-refundable.
On top of that all texts and calls go through an annoying app, not through your normal message option in your phone.
So - all in all - Freedompop cost me a lot of time and in total around $50 for a couple texts. I obviously cancelled my account - will never deal with this company again.

Terrible customer service, you can only reach them via email, have to wait days for a reply, and they're not helpful at all. Plus I have some charges (because of their faulty system) that they are refusing to refund.

I even do not want to give one star but there is nothing less than that.
I took their free sim and then they never let canceled my account. I kept on trying to cancel but it never happened and now after 5 months they have taken $71 from my account and the best thing they do not have any direct customer service where you can talk to resolve your problem. The whole website and processes are like a maze, once you get in there is no way out without paying them.
