First: I love my bike.
Second: The team was great to work with and they told me when they would be in NY at Bike Expo and they suggested I try the bike to make sure it fit right.
Third: My bike is incredibly light and I can get it up and down stairs.
Fourth: It folds so well that the outer dimension is about the same size at the wheel and it folds in about two minutes.
Fifth: It feels very secure (and has been certified to be secure) when fully open. Cobble stones are worse than offroad, but New York has them and they haven't damaged the bike.
Sixth: It is a great looking bike. I wanted a full-size bike that folded rather than one with small wheels. Most people think it is a great regular bike and don't realize it folds. Add really light and it is perfect.
If I could give 10 stars I would! I purchased a ChangeBike 702 from Flatbike.com so that I could have a full sized folding bike that I could store easily in my apartment. Bob was extremely helpful in helping me choose the right size since some of the bikes had already sold out. The bike arrived within days tuned and ready to ride with minimal assembly required -- a metric allen wrench set was included along with some spare parts. After my first spin around Central Park I must say, the bike is AWESOME!!!! I highly recommend Flatbike.com! Thanks so much for a great purchasing experience!!

Products arrived promptly and were relatively easy to install with common tools. And the result is perfect! I needed to store my new e-bike up against the wall of my garage and the flat stem and quick release pedals make that a cinch now. Well done. Great engineering and service.

Excellent and prompt service from Bob Forgrave and his team! Very satisfied with the bike fit I got and would recommend Changebikes from Flatbike.com to anyone looking for sturdy folding bikes that don´t sacrifice strength for foldability. They even answered a question about a part of the bike I thought was a dent but was actually a design feature to allow for larger wheels. Thanks, y´all!

I ordered these removal pedals from a recommendation from a friend who had a set. I ordered them with no intentions of removing them on a regular basis. The pedals were comfortable & my riding shoes were very secure on them on fast downhill single track descends. The problem was that they came off 3 times in the week and a half I had them. The last time they came off, was on the July 4th, riding on the street, in route to view fireworks. Only got about a block and a half. We reluctantly turned around and the next day I replaced them with the stock pedals of my mountain bike. I will be returning them soon.

I purchased the 702 to break up my Midwest commute for health reasons. Everything arrived exactly as described, including helpful notes. The owner has taken a well-made niche product and distributes it with a very thoughtful package. All OEM add-on parts with an integrated function? Comes standard. All the tools you need for service? My box had a full allen key set gratis. Furthermore, just check the blog to see how much effort is being spent on compatibility support.
An early review only on the buying experience. I am not qualified for a critical review of the product itself. I will say it appears to be meeting my specific niche needs very well so far, and I don't believe the sole direct competitor (which I have spent less than 5 minutes in-person with, something you can't do with these unless you are very lucky) would have worked as well for me since it seemed slightly taller when folded. No issues so far despite my very heavy rider status at time of purchase.

I ended up with the rugged hybrid. What I wanted was a "real" full size bike I could fold easily and put in a bag and check onto a plane. I have a Dahon vector and it's fine but limited and - as it turns out - heavier than the Change.
Folding is (literally) a cinch. The vertical forces on the downpost feel reassuring psychologically but when riding - it feels somewhere between my old Gary Fisher Mendota and my main Cannondale Quick Carbon 2.
In that regard it is magical. The included bag is already exhibiting the tender ministrations of Alaska Airlines baggage handlers but it made it unscathed from Seattle to Palm Springs where I rode it to the top of Chaco Canyon and beyond. I cruised at about 17-20mph (I'm old and fat) and barreled downhill close to 40+ with nary a wobble. The bike is completely uncompromised in practice. No vibrations, wobbles or issues of ANY kind.
I love it. Customer service was fantastic. Questions answered, bike delivered in perfect built and tested shape. I'm still kind of amazed I never heard of this bike till now.
Best way I can describe it is a slight premium for the folding feature - on an identical aluminum and carbon brand name bike with the same components. But that you can take on vacation or business trips. It uses standard size components and is easy to customize - I changed the seat and put some knobbly tires for gravel on it - and both were stuff I had at home already. The little seatpost bag is perfect for storing the quick release pedals - which makes folding and bagging easier - and also fits an iPhone 8XL... The downpost is just long enough to protect the main gear spindle and I pack it with my helmet covering that for extra protection and stuff my cycling clothes and gear in the bag when traveling. It comes with foam protectors for the frame and forks too - and a cool little plastic fork protector that clicks in like a wheel.
The bag is actually shaped like the folded bike, so you don't even need to take the seat off, just lower it. I'm amazed frankly and after living with it for a couple of months, still haven't found a flaw in the plan.

5 stars to the bike, and 5 stars to absolutely phenomenal customer service from Bob, who patiently traded 20 emails with me covering every single question and worry I had. I ordered a 20.5" 702 Commuter frame, which ended up being slightly too large for me. Bob gave me suggestions on making the frame fit, taught me how to use a quick-release skewer, and recently hunted down a demo bike in the 19" size which I look forward to test riding soon.
The bike itself is very cleverly designed. The aesthetics are not bad - it is clearly modern with thick tubes, but it's not a bad looking bike, and the black color is surprisingly sleek. As advertised it really does fold in less than a minute once you practice, and fit into the back of a cab with tons of room to spare - a godsend when you have poor time management and need to haul yourself and your bike somewhere in a hurry. The folding aspect comes in handy even if you don't have time to fold it completely - e.g. just a slight "bend" in the frame makes it much easier to carry on narrow and steep old staircases. I haven't tried to carry it into a restaurant folded, because where I live there are places to park outside every shop and I would just get asked to leave the bike outside.
My only complaint is that coming from a vintage upright English 3-speed, I wish this bike was a bit more of a true commuter, as out of the box it feels more like a bike you'd ride while wearing spandex :) But I understand that bigger tyres, fenders, swept-back bars etc. would affect the folding mechanism and the weight. I look forward to settling on a size so that I can start adding accessories and making it into a true workhorse. Just have to make sure it doesn't get stolen - seriously, the folding is so darn cool.

I sent an email inquiry regarding a product that was responded to promptly and personally. Excellent customer service! The mountain bike pedals arrived as described - they were very quick and easy to install and the test ride felt great! I'm really excited the portability these pedals will over me for storage in tight spaces.

This is my second Change bike - I also have the 702 commuter. I wanted this one because I wanted something a little more rugged for my fall/winter morning commute (I go through a linear rails to trails park that is covered with wet leaves and fall debris) and more casual for weekends. This is also a great bike - super sturdy, good off-road and on pavement, and great gears. Then it folds up nicely, rolls to the metro, and comes home (and I get a bunch of excited comments on the bike in the meanwhile). Flatbike’s customer service is fantastic, as ever.

The 609 rides fantastic, handles great. I love the way it folds. The only issue I had was in the first couple of days of riding it the front derailleur would not shift I also had to adjust the brakes after a few rides I had to squeez the brake handles all the way till they hit the grips and lastly the left pedal arm became extremely loose and the allen kit they give you does not have a number 10 in it. Other than that the bike is worth every penny.

Very easy to do business with. I had heartache over buying a bike site unseen, however Bob answered every conceivable question and once i did purchase, had follow up with them. They stand by the "hey its not for me i want to return it" policy, however i REALLY like the bike. Would definitely do business with them again!

Delighted with my CHANGE Bike, 611 Rugged Hybrid, a fun bike to ride. Assembly was not difficult and when I came across a step where I was unsure I called Bob Forgrave who patiently walked me through it. It is simply a pleasure to talk with Bob about CHANGE bikes and the other components he offers on his website. Really glad I found his website. Will be using this bike for biking around my area and when I go camping around the country in my travel trailer. Space and the amount of gear you can carry is an issue when camping, so the change bike definitely helps with its more compact size when folded.
