Everything proceeded with excellence. We were met at the airport perfactly. The hotels were located perfectly, and the tours were grand. The only suggestion is to provide a quick map of the hotels when you have travelers arriving at night. In Bergen it was a [problem finding the hotel even though it was 5 minutes from the Ship arrival point. The Bergen hotel prided itself on understatement and blending into history. However it was heavy rain. We ended up at a Clarion and took a cab to the hotel... we learned that we walked past the hotel in the rain for about 1km in our search. The hotel was beautiful and perfectly located. All Firebird hotel selections were perfectly located for our objectives. Thank you Firebird

This was our first time traveling with Firebird tours, and we were genuinely pleased with the experience. The accommodations were all to our liking, and the tour guides were exceptional. All travel and excursions happened on time as per our itinerary. All in all, it was a very good experience. We will recommend Firebird to our friends, and use them again ourselves.

My daughter and I have just returned to Australia from a Grand small group Tour of Italy with Firebird Tours. It surpassed all our expectations and we can't speak highly enough of the team that was behind the planning, organising and implementing of such a wonderful trip. It was stress free, the drivers and guides were friendly, informative and punctual. The itinerary covered every detail, well balanced and stream lined. Ruth and I are sat in the airport lounge just about to fly back to the UK, and I felt I had to tell you about our trip.
First, let me be honest. When we first started to deal with Firebird Tours we were a little nervous. We hadn’t heard of the company before and because of your Russian connections, we were also nervous because of the dubious reputation Russia has in the UK.
How mistaken we were!
Firstly, the Russian people have been absolutely amazing. So friendly everywhere. On one occasion we got lost around 10:00 at night. We asked for directions and a young girl walked with us for 15 minutes to ensure we found our way home.
Secondly the organisation from Firebird whilst in Russia has been exemplary. From the moment we arrived at St Petersburg where we were met right outside the arrival gate, things have been superbly organised.
Our private guides have always been exactly on time. They have been immensely knowledgable , easy to understand, flexible in their schedule to meet our needs. They couldn’t have done more.
Our transfers have been in comfortable and clean motor cars and the drivers have been well presented and safe drivers.
And both our hotels have been fantastic. In Moscow we were upgraded to a suite and had a cake and champagne to help us celebrate our anniversary. Thank you so much for arranging that.
And I must also mention the river cruise. The accommodation, the food, the ports of call and the guides were fantastic.
We will highly recommend Firebird Tours to anyone who is considering a tour of Russia, and we will definitely consider using you again for trips if we travel to where you offer tours.
Thank you for giving us an unforgettable holiday.

Firebird Tours and their travel specialist Diana did a great job in setting up our trip to Switzerland! Our trip was customized to meet our desire to visit Brienz in addition to Zurich and Lucerne. Our hotels and their locations were perfect. In Zurich we stayed at Hotel St. Gotthard and in Brienz we stayed at Hotel Brienzerburli. The two guides we had for different tours were very informative and gave us great tours. We were able to see a very beautiful part of Switzerland thanks to Firebird Tours! Kathryn N.

Firebird did an excellent job of working with us, adjusting activities to satisfy our needs and executed a perfect Visa Process for this very nervous traveler. Once on the ground in Saint Petersburg our guide, Maria, was informative, interesting and took care of us. The same goes for our driver. Hotel was very nice as was the weather except for one day.

I have been traveling internationally for the past 35+ years and have never had the pleasure of working with a person so committed to fulfilling your dreams and expectations. It is not just a job to Phil - He really cares about your needs. He truly listens to you and takes your wish list to create a phenomenal trip tailored specifically for you. Phil takes all of the worry out of your planning and does a superb job detailing every step of your journey. Phil was able to create a complete itinerary for us to go to Italy with less than 2 weeks notice. Our Italy trip was amazing!! Firebird tours took care of everything, we had great english speaking tour guides and great transfer drivers. They also picked us great lodging. We appreciate all the hard work that Sim did you make our trip so wonderful!! We will use Firebird again on our next trip.

Yes we did and I would advise you to find a different tour company. They are disorganized and don’t follow up with their “partners”. They didn’t pick us up at the airport as they were supposed to. We arrived a day late after 50 hours of travel and waited 11/2 hours for a pickup that didn’t come. They sent us a Portuguese speaking guide from Brazil, we only speak English, who planned on driving us while he Google translated a tour of the Algarve driving and holding a phone. We lost hours waiting for a guide and then at the end being dropped at a wrong hotel The next guide wasn’t one. He was only a driver and we missed our tour of Monsaraz. The following day we lost more time as our guide was given the wrong hotel to go to. I think I’ve said enough for you to decide if you want to use Firebirdtours. I couldn’t make this horror story up!
If you read Firebirds response to me, please realize it is not true. We were not informed that we were sent a driver and not a tour guide. We were not told that we would miss the tour to Monsaraz. There was a fuel strike at that point but the driver was able to stop at two different stations and fill up. So he was not having a problem. But this is only one aspect. Where is the explanation for not picking us up from the airport? They conveniently left this out of their statement/response. What is the excuse for sending us a Portuguese speaking driver who intended to drive while using his phone to translate through Google, jeopardizing all of our lives! Note they didn’t address this in their response. What is the excuse for guide showing up late because they were sent to the wrong hotel by Firebirds partner or dropping us off at the wrong hotel so that we nearly missed the last dinner option at the hotel? The refund they offered was less than $50 a person Do you think this compensates for lost time, missed tours, waiting time for them to not show up at the airport, etc.
Firebird’s false and misleading response to me should alert you further to the way they treat clients and the way they misrepresent and fail to take responsibility for their poor service.
Again the situations I am complaining About have nothing to do with the fuel crisis, which really was not a crisis since the driver was able to get gas at two stops along the way. There was no fuel crisis when we arrived and were not picked up at the airport. Firebird did not send a tour guide when we missed the tour of Monsaraz, they only sent a driver. Neither they nor the driver made us aware of the fact that we were not going to have a tour. This has nothing to do with the fuel strike. And the price of that tour is more than what they reimbursed us. We should have had a driver and a tour guide to point out things along the way. We certainly paid for that service. So we paid the price of a tour guide and the tour included in our package neither of which was delivered or compensated for. The fact that people picked us up late because they were directed to the wrong hotels and dropped us off late because they dropped us at the wrong hotel has nothing to do with the fuel crisis but only to do with Firebirds poor organization and lack of follow up and concern. Why else would they send us a guide who spoke only Portuguese and intended to hold his phone while driving and Google translate a tour of the Algarve? Everyone knows not to hold the phone and drive. This could have risked all of our lives. What does this have to do with a fuel crises! Nothing!
They have taken no direct responsibility for their inadequacies and no proper compensation was made to us In the end, buyer beware. There are a lot of other tour agencies. I have never written letters like this before, but I would definitely stay clear of this group
I hope whoever is reading this is paying attention to the fact But even at this time Firebird tours is not directing us attention to the problem or to my complaint. Again I will say I am not complaining about their inability to control I fuel crisis that would not make any sense. The fuel crisis had nothing to do with their failure to pick us up a day airport, failure to deliver or to advise us of the fact that they were not going to deliver the tour of Monseraz and even more unexplainable sending a Portuguese speaking guide to deliver a tour through a Google app that he held in his hand while he drove.
Furthermore, the driver that was late the following day was late because he was sent to the wrong hotel. Here is another clear misrepresentation on the part of Firebird Tours. We waited for the tour guide to show while Firebird insisted that he was already there and in the lobby. I had to actually go over to the hotel desk clerk and have her confirm into my cell phone that the guide was not in the lobby. So this had nothing to do with any possible fuel crisis. It had only to do with the fact that Firebird was so poorly organized it once again directed the tour guide to an incorrect hotel. How they can continue to misrepresent incidents is beyond belief!
So I ask you, do you see that they are still not addressing what I am saying, they aren’t listening yet. Is this what you want to deal with when you are away and they are your only resource? They keep talking about a fuel crisis. What I am saying has nothing to do with the fuel crisis. And they still keep misrepresenting the situation They don’t even deserve one star for failure to except responsibility and appropriately compensate for their mishandling and lack of organization! Unfortunately, one star was the least I could give them
The best thing you can do for yourself is to stop responding. You don’t even know what you’re talking about. I never blamed you for lost luggage. It wasn’t your fault and you never tried to give us any input or direction as to how to get it. But that wasn’t your job. Our flight delay was certainly not your fault and it has nothing to do with my comments on what is your fault. We did advise you all along about our flight delay. And you knew our flight number and could have and should have been aware of that on your own. We advised you from Newark airport that we were going to be delayed and advised you again from Geneva. You did not answer the phone when we called upon our arrival in Lisbon we did all we could to keep you apprised of our flight situation. As the tour operator that was supposed to meet us, it was your responsibility to keep track of the time of the arrival of our actual flight. Did you expect us to call you mid air? The driver that drove us in the Algarve was not Portuguese speaking. You did send a Portuguese speaking guide but we did not go with him. We were smart enough not to get in the car with someone who intended to drive and Google at the same time. We spoke on the phone with a friend of the Portuguese speaking guide and arranged our own English speaking guide. Interesting that you don’t even realize that. I hope everyone takes note of the fact that in all the times I’ve written to you you’ve never absorbed or bothered to absorb the details of the actual situation. The person who picked us up from the Algarve to drive us to Evora is the one that showed up without a tour guide and missed the tour of Monsaraz. It’s all a good idea that you were explaining now that the tour guide couldn’t make it that day. But this is the first I hear of that. No explanations were offered from that day until now. Again directing guides to the wrong hotel had nothing to do with a fuel crises. If you want to respond and present a case then direct it to the issues, Not to the non-issues that you are directing your comments to i.e. lost luggage, delayed flight I hope the readers are taking note that each one of your responses only indicates how little you know about the actual events and how uninvolved you are to the point that you haven’t even read these notes let alone my many emails
When you offer compensation you recognize that there were things that were not done correctly. However the compensation needs to be fair and should be something that is agreed-upon. We never agreed that less than $50 a person was adequate compensation

Before your driver left the airport or if he had any questions about where we were and when we would be ready, the proper protocol should’ve been for him to call us. We tried to call you. I finally left a message. That was not the first call made. You were called from the phone of the other party as well as soon as we realized we did not have luggage. They did not leave you a message because it was obvious to them that you were closed and not reachable. We could understand that at that hour you were closed, however; we did expect that the driver would still be waiting and there were many other drivers
waiting with signs outside. We expected that he would ty to call us before leaving us at the airport. Also, do not misquote me. I never said there wasn’t a fuel crisis. I said that even during this so-called fuel crisis the driver who took us from the Algarve was able to get gas at two stations along the way, so that he was a assured he would get home. Indeed, instead of a tour of Monsaraz, the only thing we heard the whole way from the Algarve to Evora was “ I have to get home to my wife.” Please don’t discount our being brought back to the wrong hotel at the Algarve causing us to have to gulp dinner down because all we had was 20-30 minutes before the kitchen closed. The fado show which was supposed to be a highlight and an evening out did not allow us to order from their menu. They had picked two items for the other party with us and what I can best describe as risotto slop for us As we are vegetarian.
You Portuguese speaking driver was supposed to tour the Algarve. Address his intended use of goggle on his phone while he drove. There was no strike yet

Firebird arranged my July 2019 trip to Russia as well as a trip to Russia in 2018. I really appreciated their personal attention to my most recent trip and felt completely taken care of while in Russia. I was met at the Moscow airport, taken to my Moscow hotel, picked up there and taken to the Volga Dream and then picked up in St Petersburg and taken to the airport. Loved the Moscow hotel they had booked for me. I really recommend Firebird and plan to use them for my trans-Siberia railway trip in the future.

This was my first trip with Firebird and I can’t say enough about the efficiency and responsiveness of the staff. I even received a call from Maria at our first stop in Copenhagen to ask if everything was going okay.
Scandinavia is a great itinerary but a bit too intense. I found the three hour walking tours in each city tiring. Had the city guides in Copenhagen and Sweden provided us with transportation passes like they did in Helsinki and Oslo, it would have been much more enjoyable
The hotels Firebird selects are four star and classy; however we only spend a night or two in each one. Since the tour is so intense and the hotels are so magnificent, optional tours are unnecessary. In my opinion, there is no reason to take optional tours when the hotels and places near the hotels provide plenty of activity.
For me, the train trip to Flam was the highlight of the tour. And the Hotel Fretheim staff were most gracious and accommodating.
My fellow travelers unanimously chose Firebird Tours because it offered other modes of travel like train, plane, and ferry rather than just bus. This was my first Firebird tour, but will not be my last.

My husband and I could not be happier with Firebird Tours. We traveled with a customized tour to Switzerland and Germany in July 2019. We mainly worked with Gabby who was incredibly helpful in the planning of our itinerary. She was very responsive to our requests. We loved having the private guides as that afforded us the opportunity to hear first-hand about the sites we were seeing and to have our many questions answered. We enjoyed traveling between the cities by train and all our hotel accommodations were fine. Thank you Firebird Tours for creating so many wonderful memories for us.

Firebird tours preparation, support and communication with our travel advisor and support staff was absolutely wonderful. St. Petersburg itself was fabulous and not something to miss. Sadly, the reason I gave the St Petersburg tour only three stars was because of our guide. I really felt as though she was merely putting her hours in and not terribly engaging. There were many periods of complete silence, for instance when riding in a car. That would have been a nice time for her to discuss culture, etc. her English was very good, so that was not the issue. At times when we finished early, which occurred on both days, she asked us if there was anything else we wanted to see. This is difficult to answer as we are the tourists and not the tour guide! It didn’t matter, because I that point, I felt she was truly disconnected, so I encouraged an early end to the day. Did our guide take us to what was on the itinerary? Yes, however, a better attempt to connect with us as people would have made the days a lot less uncomfortable. Also, we paid almost $2,000 for two days for my husband and I. We were driven in a clean, but old, compact car, which was not comfortable. Our driver was good, however. I understand that Firebird get licensed tour guides, often freelanced, from St Petersburg. I would suggest they vet them more carefully as to align with the superior caring and attention we received before our tour.

Firebirds organized a fabulous custom trip for myself and 12 of my closest friends. All provisions were perfect...a wonderful company that organized our trip to perfection. Accommodations, transfers and tours were wonderful. Absolutely no complaints from any of our party. I thank you Monica for being our guide for a lovely and memorable vacation.

We traveled with Firebird Tours for the first time this summer, to the Scandinavian Capitals and Russia. We were delighted, as Firebird provided us exactly what we wanted - support before our trip, precise planning for hotels and transportation and orientation tours in each city with fab guides - and we had plenty of time on our own to spend afternoons doing our own thing, and dining wherever we chose. It would have been labor intensive for us to orchestrate this whirlwind adventure on our own - so we left it to Firebird, will recommend this company to our friends, and will use them again.
