They give you the free trial and say you can cancel at any time... The thing is, they only give you the option to cancel online on your account after they take the 7.95£ of the first-month of subscription.

I have been with Equifax for a number of years with no issues they have even been helpful on the odd occasion. However I now have a notice of correction sitting on my account which should have been removed in April as it has been resolved.
I have made endless complaints and phone calls to be advised that it will be escalated.
How difficult can it be to remove it. They certainly had the time to put it on there with there notes making me sound untrustworthy.
Dealing with this Organization has turned into a nightmare and I am paying for the privilege. Absolute joke!

I agree with most of the terrible reviews on this site.
They hold inaccurate data and are incredibly slow to react.
Their staff are difficult to say the least hard to understand.
They offer no help whatsoever.
I was told basically to do their job for them.
How can our financial institutions rely on such a shambolic outdated information source.
Give me experian any day.
Also checkmy file have this company as one of their main sources of data. Surly they can see they are crap and should drop them.
Regards
Dave.

I subscribed to the Equifax credit file service so as to ensure my credit reference information was up to date, following a house move.
The portal provides good information however the customer service is absolutely appalling.
1/ Equifax, but their own admission, have inputted incorrect information on my credit file. Despite this, are unable to commit to a resolution date some 4 weeks after notification.
2/ Equifax fail to correct and update information on my file in a timely manner, despite being provided with official local government documentation to support this correction.
Their customer services are polite and empathetic, but in reality offer no practical or meaningful help. An appalling service that has a real personal impact on the customer when Equifax get it wrong!
I would welcome a follow up from someone at Equifax to share my frustrations.

Avoid like the plague! And don't waste your money on them! This is the most incompetent business on the planet! How they are still used for credit checks by any serious business is beyond me. Especially when Experian is lightyears ahead and somehow manage to keep their records without any problems.
These morons make up addresses that don't exist, claiming I live at made up addresses and blatantly refuse to correct them, despite two complaints raised! In fact, they don't even register the complaints and pretend it never happened. Electoral roll and Experian have no problem finding the correct address that actually exist.
Invest in updating your database.

Inaccurate information on report. Open a case to get info altered or removed and never hear from them. Creditors basically can state what they want on your report and you can't get hold of anyone to change or correct it. Online account locked for no reason and can't get intouch to sort it out. Bit of a shambles really!

Not withstanding years of inaccuracies, misinformation and latterly data loss I finally made time during lockdown to request closure of my account when I was being asked to update previously advised credit card details almost on a fortnightly basis. Seemingly they had managed to both use and lose this current information over a period of about 8 months.
Hence in doing so I specifically de-authorised Equifax’s use of my credit card and retention of my details as I have no desire to be associated with such vulnerable organisations.
Suffice to say that evidently didn’t work and my credit card provider has graciously refunded me despite a recent laborious conversation for about 30 mins with an infuriatingly inarticulate Equifax customer service agent. I only wanted to close the account and seek a refund, not hold a discussion about it !
As for the notion of closing an account online - the FAQs and website functionality are simply not compatible.
Equifax does not even support a secure messaging service.
Even Equifax CEO Patricio Remon has not ordained to assist.
Dreadful company - goodness knows how it maintains its standing within the UK Financial Services Sector as a one star rated organisation.

I have been refused credit because of equifax not confirming where I live. I have lived at my property for 8 months and provided proof but they will still not change their information.
I am now going to contact the FCA as Equifax are useless.

My son applied for a credit card and was refused. Experian shows all fine but equifax whom he had been told had flagged him as a risk, just in a few opening questions have a lot of things wrong about him and his financial history.
To aim to put things right you end up on one of the worst designed websites currently available in 2020 and the information that you don't get confuses you as much as the information they try to make available to you. Nothing is navigable and each time you log in and out you have to reset password as it no longer remembers it. Appalling overall and just hope the staff are not as incompetent in putting his credit report right in a timely manner. He has lived with us all his life and has yet only taken out car finance but they have him down as having a mortgage and loans other than this. Where do Equifax get such information?

Terrible company and was the only company to mistake my sister's details with my own. Their representaives are useless who do not care: they offered inaccurate advice and made things worse than they were. Contacting them will leave you incredibly frustrated.

Unreliable, error ridden. They do not even operate a comprehensive address database - they could not let me access my own credit ratings because their own address system does not list my exact address which is used by all other official accounts from driving licence to bills to passport. Do not trust their ratings. Appalling website and unavailable customer service.

Why do you have to give a star to these tossers I've tried cancelling for weeks with no joy.its an absolute impossibility to contact them to cancel your direct debit I only wanted a months free trail and they just keep taking money from my account. I strongly advise anyone thinking of using these not to bother I've emailed and tried everything i can to cancel and it's not happening . D--k turpin had a mask on when he robbed people I bet these have as well. The government or some authority should have a look at this set up.

Horrible service that frankly has been confirmed by many customers on this list.> I went out of my way to prove that the amount owed and claimed by Capital One is WRONG and False..They do nothing....and tell me Capital one has to prove this and correct this..My question is very simple. What value does Equifax bring to this corporate debt .equation??? NOTHING...I guess now I have to get a LAWYER RIGHT? Head office in Quebec and yet call centre in the Phiiippines? I can see both French and English customer frustrated and angry at this horrible service...The federal regulators should be involved with this company. I can clearly see why this stupid, arrogant, incompetent company was hacked by the CHINESE!!

Really Sh it company - do not join, you will not be able to cancel (there is no option on their website to cancel). You will regret joining - they are a bunch of faceless, non contactable daylight robbery. I have contact them a number of time and you just go round in ever decreasing circles. How they are allowed to manage personal credit info is beyond me. I have reported them a number of times but to no available - be warned. I have been trying to cancel my subscription for months now, my card has expired and I have not updated the details but they still manage to take payment which is really frustrating. I want close my account ASAP.

I have had a personal account with equitable for 2 years - since they gave them for free following their major data breach.
In that time, I’ve found the website availability highly variable. When it does work it is “ok” - it needs modernising and making clearer. When it doesn’t work it just frustrating. For example, after getting an alert about an important change to my score, I couldn’t log on for over 24 hours.
Recently I received an email saying that they were extending the free account by another year. The email has a strap line “By 12 months...” - not only is this spelt incorrectly(!) but it’s actually not what the email was about.
Now I can’t log in. The phone line is perpetually busy, and the terrible quality audio tells me to go to ..../help. But that webpage doesn’t seem to exist!!!
This company just needs a good modernising.

The first most glaringly obvious problem with equifax is that they give you a credit score but don't tell you how many it is out of - I think it might be 700 but quite frankly, not telling you is just one example of them not being fit for purpose. As credit reports affect our lives in such a significant way, there needs to be a body to which we can complain to if equifax and the like do not give us proper customer service. I personally am lucky not to have anything incorrect on my report, but I am shocked at the reviews from other poor customers. If a company gives good customer service, then word will get round and people will want to use its services

Another rotten ratings agency interested in big wealth of our nation only the poor just struggle to get any stable or even high scores I am sure these companies target groups in society based on wealth and income. The monthly fee is just a con.
No matter how hard you try to get those high scores and read the bunkum lenders put out their to convince you into getting those high scores unless your wealthy you will never gain the chance to get those scores. Information is innacuratte and not updated as I should be loading times on website just ridiculous and customer care non existent unless your paying the fee to them you don't matter or you are a lord or minister of some sort they won't entertain you run by corrupt practices by corrupt individuals. No I don't reccomend this company. Just like all the big ratings agency's you only matter if your wealthy. What a society?

I can only echo the comments of those reviewers who have commented before me.
I have now spent more than 7 months trying to get a fraudulent credit search removed from my credit file. Every time I raise a dispute with Equifax I am told that I must contact O2 (the company which made the credit search). I have done so, on 4 previous occasions, only to be told each time by O2 that they have already asked Equifax to remove the fraudulent credit search from my file. Equifax deny all knowledge of this, despite the fact that I have now been told by O2 that they have a unique reference number proving that Equifax have received their request.
What annoys me most about this whole sorry episode, other than Equifax's total incompetence, is the fact that I am the one running around trying to put things right! Each time I have raised a dispute with Equifax I have been told to contact O2...…… again! At no point have they offered to put things right, or to resolve the matter themselves.
Oh and to make matters worse, Equifax are now showing an incorrect previous address on my account. It seems that I mysteriously moved from number 11 to number 1, despite the fact that I do not remember doing so! As a result of the above, I have lost all historical electoral roll data on my credit file.
In my bitter experience, the one overriding thought I have is that Equifax just do not seem to care about the wellbeing of their customers.

Terrible experience. First of all, the website is totally not user-friendly and has an awful interface. Secondly, of all the three major credit agencies, Equifax is the one I've had the worst experience with. The other two acknowledged that I was on the electoral role, however, Equifax didn't - how, I do not know. This was very stressful during my mortgage application process, and when I tried to call customer service to ask what I could do, I was met with zero solution and a 'can't-do' attitude. I wouldn't recommend anyone to pay for Equifax's services, at least not until they improve both customer experience and their information sources.
