A place full of scammers run by a company that is complacent with scams and doesn’t care about their customers.
I had two experiences with eBay: first I sold a laptop that was in perfect conditions. Buyer received laptop said it was great and in 15 claimed that the battery was damaged is demanded a return. As a seller, eBay doesn’t give you any opportunity to justify or prove that the buyer is acting in bad faith. Result, I had to pay for shipping costs, received a laptop that was damaged and didn’t have refund or support from eBay.
Second experience was as a buyer. I bought a battery to replaced the damaged battery of the laptop. The day that I was supposed to receive the battery I receive an email from eBay that my account was suspended. What?? No reasons for the suspension or clarifications. I contacted eBay and explained my situation. Their reply:
“In regards to your purchase I'm sorry to hear that you haven't received your item. As your account is currently suspended, it no longer qualifies for eBay Buyer Protection but you're free to seek other paths outside of eBay to contact the seller or get your refund.
As we have made our final decision, no further action will be taken on your account and any future messages we receive regarding this suspension will be read, but may not receive a reply.”
This is unacceptable. Bottom line, don’t take the risk shopping at eBay. You will probably find a similar product on Amazon and, even if it’s more expensive, it’s worth the additional price.

They now have MANAGED PAYMENTS AND NO PAYPAL...ANY ISSUES AND ALL YOUR PAYMENTS ARE ON HOLD! DO YOURSELF A FAVOR...GO TO AMAZON, THEY HAVE GREAT AND CARING SELLERS BUT EVEN THEY ARE JUMPING SHIP. I WATCHED THEM FALL, THE DEEPER THE LOSSES THE MORE THEY TOOK FROM THE VERY PEOPLE THAT BUILD THEM, THEIR SELLERS! BUYER BEWARE! AVOID AT ALL COST!

ebay and it's customer service are misleading in conversation. They can see all correspondence between buyer and seller because they review them for approved content.
I recently shipped a bike via bike flights because ebays shipping is clunky they could see all correspondence with the buyer and I have a 100% approval, yet they are holding my funds till Dec 7 ,2020. I provided the buyer with all shipping receipts and tracking numbers, UPS drop receipts, and pics of the box. The buyer received the bike in excellent condition last Friday 11/20/2020, yet ebay continues to hold my funds... Imagine the interest they are making on all the funds they are holding..

Ebay stole my new merchandise
Ebay stole my new merchandise. I sold brand new box. Buyer took merchandise and returned empty box. Ebay refunded buyers money. No recourse whatsoever. I lost $7000. NEVER SELL ON EBAY.

I haven't had many bad experiences with eBay other than late deliveries which can be a bit annoying, but overall I've been happy with my purchases.

eBay is a good place to shop. It's like all places some good sellers some bad sellers. I Don't think they should actually receive money directly as soon as you pay. eBay should hold the money until the item is shipped. Then that brings in a problem too. Some sellers will Mark items shipped knowing full well they haven't shipped anything on a Sunday at 7:00 pm. You can send items back if it's not what you wanted. However the customer isn't given that same trust as sellers. Your refund is given when the seller receives the item back. I've had a few bad experiences with some sellers. One got mad and kept calling me etc bc I left a neg feedback. I don't think these ppl should have your personal info. I have also received threats from sellers. Yes I reported them to Ebay. I Don't think anything was actually done. Anyone can sell on that site. For safety reasons, I feel eBay should be in possession of all items that are being sold. I've had a seller send me a plastic container with a metal pipe type thing in it. I ordered a big thing of hair conditioner. I had to call the cops not knowing what the strange device was. The cops stated they do things like that to add weight to make it seem as if they are sending you the real item. They will also remove bad reviews from a sellers profile if asked to. I like ebay but they need to change a few things. If you leave a neg review that they don't like it will not get posted. The customers shouldn't be censored, not when your spending money keeping this company going.

In my opinion based on my own personal experience, Ebay needs a big checkup and adjustment with the way they do business with us, the customers! They need to become more moral and they need to treat their customers with more respect. They need to weed out the thieves that use their service. Currently, Ebay hides behind their 30 day return policy to not address thieves. Instead of protecting their customers, they protect sellers that are thieves! I wrote their CEO about my concerns. After much discourse, they finally gave me my money back. BUT they only let me (and all of you) put a short, 1 line comment about how Seller Treated me!!! This is preposterous! That means really bad and totally unacceptable. Ebay CEO refused to change their policy to allow a large comment!!

I only left one star because I have to leave something. This company is HORRIBLE. I had been selling on Ebay long enough for them to rate me as one of their better sellers. However. when a buyer made a bogus complaint to return an item (they simply didn't want it afterall) Ebay sided with them without either asking me my side of the story, or providing me with a forum to contact them, and they tired to make me pay all of the fees. Absolutely no support for the sellers, who are their source of income. Absolutely horrible experience!

Insufficient information for buyers to make an informed purchase decision. E-Bay should require better disclosure, including multiple pics, so sellers don't scam buyers.

eBay is getting worse by the day, I'm getting more and more faulty products than ever before and it is becoming a nightmare, the staff during corona are not available to talk but are STILL doing business, smart 🤬. Chinese sellers are lying about delivery times and sometimes item locations, reports are useless and the options ridiculous. Fees are still pretty high with power sellers having odd manipulations over feedback, several sellers with (my) WELL deserved negative feedback disappear off thier wall, two instances for e.g. waiting 9 - 10 weeks for an item that stated 1 month delivery at the time. To top that off, several purchases I made increased after I finalized payments, charging me even more on several overseas items (SHOULD BE ILLEGAL!), oh and yes I read the conversion rate number as shown on screen, this is dirty practice!
What is sad Is I have 100% feedback and have been a member for over 15 years and I am now forced to use AMAZON, now at least I will find comfort in knowing I will get refunds on ALL my purchases if they are faulty and not have to worry about a bleeping DEADLINE! Of all the Amazon items I have bought, not 1 I have had to return, so suck on that eBay.
P.S. I found and disabled ALL the tracking activity that you RECORD and SHARE with THIRD-PARTIES in account settings that I did not see before and did not agree to, sly AND greedy!

After thousands of dollars of purchases and 5 years together, Ebay and I are parting ways. They favor sellers, who lie, cheat and steal over their buyers, even buyers that have literally made over 5 thousand purchases in the past 5 years ( yep, me !! ).
They actually went against me when a package was misdelivered ( tracking show 11214 and my zip is 11204 ) and did not refund me despite my angry emails and letting them know I would cancel my account if they sided with the seller who would not reply to a single one of my numerous emails.
I am moving on - I never have these issues with Etsy, Amazon, Iherb, Vitacost, etc.
Ebay sucks big time and unless you want to constantly open disputes with your credit card company and thrive on anger and frustration, TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE.

Ebay has gone downhill. It favors sellers over buyers. I bought an item from a seller and paid for it. I waited for tracking information and instead a few days later I received an email from ebay saying the seller cancelled my order and a refund would be issued. I emailed the seller asking why my order was cancelled and the seller never replied back. I immediately left negative feedback for the seller which is my right as an ebay member and buyer. The next morning the feedback was removed because the seller cried and whined to ebay and ebay caved in just like it always does for the sellers. I emailed ebay and after waiting quite awhile it advised me to report the seller which I did. Nothing was done about it. Yesterday I noticed the same exact item was relisted by the seller. I will no longer use ebay. Ebay HAS to change it's policy and treat buyers and sellers the same. Without buyers there would be no ebay. Ebay needs buyers to buy items from the sellers. That's just common sense.

I like eBay. It’s a great platform to buy and sell. Recently I’ve started selling less But maybe buying more.
I don’t like changes they have made to sellers/listings this year. (See further below)
As a buyer, I like that I can buy it now instead of waiting on auctions.
As a seller, I love that I can list multiple quantities- you can’t do this on Mercari, only eBay & Poshmark.
I also like global shipping as a buyer & seller- ebay has an excellent process for buying & selling very easily internationally which is exclusive to ebay as far as I know. The competition just can’t compete here. This opens the door to tons of opportunity for more sales for the sellers & buyers looking for hard to find items have a better shot of finding what they are looking for.
Changes that need improvement:
ie: - ebay payment processor instead of PayPal ...Just isn’t the same. As a seller it was nice when people paid to get the $ straight to my PayPal account. I could then use the funds they paid for shipping to pay to ship their item. Now I wait on funds so shipping costs are out of my pocket. A prepaid option like Mercari or Poshmark would be awesome. That’s one reason I started selling on other platforms.
-No referral credits on eBay. Mercari gives me a link to invite people, we both get $10- when people on Poshmark use my referral code, which is my closet name, ABSTRACTHANGER - We both get a credit. it’s a nice bonus that eBay doesn’t offer. Both you/your referral get a credit that makes it worth while. The platform gets a new user, helping everyone, and You feel appreciated. It’s the little things.
-one more big change ebay made- if you have a listing and you promoted it , it no longer shows up in both the promoted section and the organic search results. They decided which to show, meaning if they only show the promoted listing & it gets bought- you owe eBay more $$ in fees. What if the person wanted your item and would’ve bought either way? The people collecting the fee determine whether the listing with the fee or without the fee is shown to potential buyers?
* (Full disclosure, I could just opt out of promoting my listings, but I haven’t at this point - I think it helps me sell more although I’m not sure)
I will continue to buy on eBay - I’m happy as a buyer. I refer people to the platform on a regular basis- mostly in conversation (check ebay... you should try to sell that on eBay, etc) As a seller, I still make sales and continue to list items, just not like I once did. I think ebay is working out some kinks but they are still a major player & I would support ebay over Amazon any day. I always check ebay first if it’s not something I need within 48 hours;-)

Ebay supports the seller and not the buyer! Tried to cancel an order and the seller and Ebay said it already shipped when only a shipping label was created. One day later and the item showed up as shipped. Ebay protects the seller but not the buyer.
