We are retired and got the phone for my husband. We travel the country and decided it would be a good idea to have two phones. What a mistake! The phone worked fine while in a large metro area. However when we were at a lake outside Wichita, KS no service. Phone would not receive calls and the only way to make a call was to go outside, find the highest spot and just maybe it would work. I had an emergency in town and attempted to call my husband. Call would not go through. Did not payment bill as assumed it would be cancelled. Guess what! They kept it turned on even though it did not work. We paid $55 for they phone and they are trying to collect another $54 for service we did not have. Thank goodness I kept my Straight Talk service. Even got a
call while hiking in the bottom of Bryce Canyon. Would not recommend Consumer Cellular to anyone!

Hi. I'm extremely upset and frustrated with consumer cellular. I had a problem with the phone overheating and i was unable to use it. The phone heated up alot and I was afraid it would catch the house on fire.
I called to explain the problem but customer service said there is nothing can be done and I was charged 3 months and i couldn't use phone. I called and messaged consumer cellular and they were no help. Do not use consumer cellular. Nothing but problems.

This was my husband's phone and his account. Since he passed away, as a courtesy, I contacted customer service to cancel his service. At this time, I was roped into paying the bill + additional service fees. After I paid, I was told I could have just sent in a copy of the death certificate. Seriously!? I'm going through the worst time of my life and these are the reps you have to deal with?

Their service is cheap and used to be good. However, whenever there are problems (dropped calls, no calls), they don't know how to fix them. Long wait times, dropped calls (with their customer service), they don't know what they are doing when trouble shooting.

Customer service was terrible. Wanted to transfer phone number and canceled account. Then told account had to be active to transfer phone number. Wouldn't give us number without going through reactivation even though it was 5 minutes ago. Won't ever use them again. Switched to Great Call. Much happier with their excellent customer service.!

The worst customer service i have ever tried to use. They must hire them off the street and give them a notebook to try and solve the customers problems.I would NOT recommend them to anyone including your worst friends.I would not even give them one star.

I just spoke with a supposed to be representative, but I think they are all JERKS and are just trying to rip us off, we have only been with them a few months, and they are already taking our bill higher than those other folks, We can either take it or get rid of them, I AM SO DISAPPOINTED IN THEM, THEY SAID THAT THEY ARE LOOKING OUT FOR SENIORS BUT WE ARE THE ONES THEY ARE TRYING TO CHEAT....VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have had the service almost a year. I went to Target and bought a phone, the one I had would not work with their service. I get a discount because I'm in AARP. I had to call them a couple of times in the beginning. I'm extremely pleased with CC. No dropped calls. I do a fair amount of texting so the 25.00 plan was best for me. I would and have recommended them to people.I'm saving myself 35.00 a month and get better service.

Data plan sucks, coverage for central Florida really sucks and they support the Democraps.

They rip off seniors! They told us that we used our protection plan twice for the same phone within a six month period when in fact it was for my phone and my wife's. There reps dont know what they are doing and if they wouldn't send junk phones to people this would have never happened. They say i owe interest and fees now. Im sending in my original bill payment and that's all there getting.
The rep was also v e ry rude to me.

We ordered a new IPhone 7 from Consumer Cellular and of course it took 5 days to arrive. We had to pay $67 up front to order the phone, we are going to make monthly payments. Well to our surprise we open the package on Saturday and there is no phone in the box!!!! My husband called their customer service immediately to report it and of course they did not know what could be done. So first thing Monday morning he called again. Well another surprise there is no documentation of his call on Saturday! This women says she took the information and has to refer it to another department. She said it will take 2-3 days to decide what to do! What do you mean “what to do”? We did not receive the phone what’s to decide? My husband is 75 and I am 66 why would we lie about this!!!! We are both so upset. If this doesn’t get resolved in 2-3 days we will be contacting the Better Business Bureau and contacting an attorney for a consultation on how to proceed. We have been with AT&T for 20 plus years. My husband switched to CC to save some money. What a mistake. I am still with AT&T because I use too much data. I had to replace my phone about a month ago because my screen cracked. I had a new phone sent by way of Fedex and I had the new phone the next afternoon. Now that is great service. Plus they gave us 10 days to return the old phone and gave us all the necessary materials and instructions on how to return the old phone at no charge to us. They even included the tape for the box! Now that is great customer service. We are now late Wednesday afternoon and it gets worse! We cannot get a response from Consumer Cellular and my husband calls everyday. The customer service reps he speaks to basically saying he is lying in so many words. This is unbelievable and not sure where we need to go from here. I sent them an email yesterday and they have as yet to respond. I am going to report them to the Better Business Bureau. This is very disturbing that an AARP recommended company is aloud to treat seniors this way. We have very little to live on as we are both on Social Security. We actually find it very disturbing. Oh my gosh you are not going to believe this! Today is Monday 9/16/2019 After I posted my second review late Wednesday afternoon we get another email from Consumer Cellular stating they shipped another package out and we should receive it within 3-5 days. Ok now we are excited. Then on Friday the 13th we received an email from Consumer Cellular with the tracking number that was shown on the Wednesday email stating the post office returned the package because it was not picked up within 15 days!!! The package was just sent out 2 days prior how can it be 15 days? So I went into the USPS website under the new tracking number and it shows the package was returned because the Addressee shown on the package did not match the address shown on the package! I don’t know about you readers but Consumer Cellular deserves a minus 10!!!! I am so disgusted and WILL NOT refer anyone to them. This is out of control and absolutely unacceptable. If we ever do get this phone it should be free! My husband decided to go to the post office with all our documentation. Unbelievable, the package was there! It had not been returned after all. However, whoever at Consumer Cellular did put my Husbands name on the mailing label but they showed the mailing address as the post offices address!!!! Who the heck does this. Everyone needs to be fired or at least written up that handled these transactions right down to the Customer Service Reps that took the phone calls. I will definitely be staying with AT&T my husband can have Consumer Cellular. What a joke. I plan to post this everywhere I can

I called consumer cellular to get a prepay phone cut on fo dtr my husband , they got all my information than sent me 3 different sim cards one of them I was able to use, the only thing I had to call sprint and get it unlocked ,sprint got my info and said it would take 7 to 10 days to unlock it . I than called Consumer cellular and told than what they told me they than said call them back when they do unlock the phone I did call them back to tell them they weren't able to unlock the phone now what am suppose to do now the phone was never cut on , the rep I talked to said that's fine we see we never cut it on and give it a couple more days and see what happens ,if they don't unlock it ,you can go to Target or buy one from us I said what if my Husband decides he just don't want the hassle he said than we will reverse the charges.Nope didn't happen they took care of the prorated charges but not the charges monthly . Guys it's a good deal but if your getting another phone especially to unlock it's not worth the hassle.

About ready to get rid of Consumer Cellular. The limited data plan is a joke when I can get unlimited everything for the same price with other carriers. Once you get bumped over the $35 minimum you are screwed moving forward. Since AARP was involved, I should have known better. Nothing they offer for seniors is beneficial and I'm finding iAARP is joke!

Very bad coverage even in a metro area. Kept the service two months, tried everything to get better connection but nothing worked. Called to cancel and then said I'm billed for two months, when I had already paid for previous month, and I didn't qualify for the first free month even though my statements say otherwise. They also don't cancel without having to talk to someone even after you've switched service. Verizon told me I didn't have to do anything after they ported the number. Thank god I called. Friendly people but shady tactics...

Consumer Cellular service map shows LTE service throughout most of Wisconsin, but in reality, LTE service is available only in your immediate service area and 4G while mobile. Deceptive advertising in my opinion!

Cannot port out my numbers. be aware consumer cellular does not want to port out numbers. For this reason alone I would stay away. 4 days and counting, they will give every excuse to not release your number.

WE PURCHASED A FLIP PHONE FOR MY HUSBAND ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO. IT HAS STOPPED WORKING 3 TIMES. CONSUMER CELLULAR DID A "HARD SHOCK" ON THE PHONE TWICE. WHEN IT STOPPED WORKING THE THIRD TIME I AS FOR A NEW PHONE AS I FEEL IT IS DEFECTIVE AND IS STILL UNDER A ONE YEAR WARRANTY. THEY SAID NO. MY HUSBAND IS 80 YEARS OLD AND NOT IN GOOD HEALTH. HE NEEDS A PHONE THAT WORKS ALL THE TIME. WE ARE GOING TO ANOTHER PROVIDER. IM VERY UPSET AND DISSATISFIED.

I bought a brand new phone with consumer cellular and have had problems ever since. They gave me a tmobile sim card automatically and the phone would occasionally refuse to send text messages. I tried everything I could think of and finally called tech support. They did some things and it worked temporarily but soon had the same periodic issue. I called tech support multiple times and they tried different things but it would go out again. A tech suggested resting the network settings, so i tried that twice and again temporary relief but it would always come back. After months of dealing with the same unresolved issue and my service being automatically upgraded when i forgot to reconnect to my wifi after resting the network settings again, I got fed up and tried calling again. This time the tech said it was probably the tmobile sim card. I hope that resolves the issue but in the meantime I have to pay for a month of upgraded service for an issue they caused and all they keep telling me is call back, I can't help you now. That's ridiculous! I've been dealing with this for over 3 months! They even told me that the issue was resolved each time i called - if I have to call back about the same issue IT IS NOT RESOLVED!!!!!!! That is not right, ESPECIALLY for a company claiming to provide themselves in customer service.

I have been happy for the most part but due to slow response time I got a new SIM card. I don't see much difference and didn't know I had to reset voicemail. Makes sense. I tried to change the ring time so I had a better chance of answering, wow! Called 3 times and followed directions but all it did was send mail to call forwarding. So had to call and fix that. And I still can't reset my ring time. Very frustrated

Consumer Cellular is Consumer Scam. The low prices offered at the website are very misleading and incorrect. I am still arguing with Consumer Cellular over billing. I tried the $25 Plan, which is the 250 min and 2GB, with additional AARP benefits: a 5% AARP discount, and "Our extended 100% risk-free guarantee: If you’re not completely satisfied for any reason, simply cancel within the first 45 days and pay nothing. It’s absolutely hassle-free". So I expected an initial bill for $23.75 plus state taxes (8.875% in NY) which I calculated at $2.11. I tried to cancel after 40 days, only to be told that the special AARP deal only applied to use of 500MB (I used 548MB), with charges after that, and am now being billed an additional fee of about $20, on top of the first month fee of $34.74 because of all the extra surcharges tacked on (with "Government Taxes & Fees" listed at $5.08) for a total of $43.06. None of these additional charges and fees are explained, nor any warning given about 500MB maximum usage. I calculated that the real price for my 40-day trial, based on what was advertised, should be $25.86, which is what I paid them. I will not pay more.
Not only that, but the first SIM card permitted only limited phone use, and so I had almost no useful phone service for the first week (and many visits to TARGET) until the SIM was replaced. They have no email communication, only phone service, which requires waiting in line. Stay away.

Terrible company, They say to you “we are best in CS and you will not be disappointed with our service, Yada,yada,yada...... then when you decide to cancel the service they give you a run around and give you a “direct number” to billing for a botched refund and it’s the 15-20 minute wait again - seems they like to play games and laugh about it among themselves. Stay away, bad CS and terrible coverage as everyone here has written-it’s true.

My Android Phone mysteriously stopped using Google assistant. So I cannot use voice commands which is a pain in the neck using Android Auto. Try using navigation without voice commands. But my biggest gripe is I cannot dictate texts. All those wee little microphones have gone AWOL.
So I read the manuals, watched the videos. All of them showed menus different than my phone's. So I called Consumer Cellular. The customer service rep went through all the steps that I had, but the menus we walked through did not match up with my phone.
So I asked if there was any local face to face help - like Target. and he hung up on me. It may have been an accident, or just your crappy network reception.
I don't know who has been rating you, but this was a zero charisma experience. Besides large dead zones areas within cities I visit, and crappy service, I'm ready to switch back to Verizon. They're gonna screw me, but at least they offer flowers and chocolate first. So I ask you what I asked your agent before he dropped the call, Do you still have a relationship with Target? Can I take this phone to them and see if they have any magic way of resurrecting my Google assistant? I am pretty unhappy.
