How is it possible that their broadway tickets are more expensive than buying direct from the show’s website? The $40 credit from sightseeing pass is pretty useless because even after you have applied it, you still end up paying more than the usual price.

City Sighths NY is connected with NY SighthseeingPass. On calling the attraction list you are routed to a SighthseeingPass URL but if you place a booking you do not get the 40$ SighthseeingPass credit required for additional attractions e.g. a free Empire State Building voucher. If you buy on SighthseeingPass website you are routed to a City Sighths NY for redeeming your 40$ credit. Strange procedures. Be careful!

Firstly, you have to go to one of the Company's welcome centres to have your voucher redeemed instead of simply boarding the bus at one of the stops and handing it to the driver. The staff at the downtown location only seem to be interested in issuing the tickets and are not willing to answer any queries you may have. Secondly, the buses used are of very poor quality with the seats being almost too slippery to sit on without continually having to brace yourself. Thirdly, the downtown loop is not continuous. You have to leave the bus midway to board another bus to complete the loop, which incidentally does not finish at the start point. Fourthly, the staff are unhelpful and somewhat brash in their responses to any questions for directions, stop information and timings. Fifthly, the booklet supplied is not very good as the map in particular is so small a scale that details are nigh on impossible to find. Sixthly, you have to board the hop on hop off boat to access the Brooklyn tour. Bus stop is located some distance from Pier and is not signed. Guide on this tour spoke very quickly with a Brooklyn accent which was almost impossible to understand. There is nothing of great significance to view on this tour.
Our experience of this Company leaves a lot to be desired as we encountered a bus doing the second part of the downtown tour without any working public address system. The driver was advised, but he spoke very little English and did nothing. Further, he stopped the bus at the end of the tour and quite literally told us to get off at what was an unknown location. He refused to offer any directions to the next tour bus stops in that vicinity. This resulted in us being reliant on assistance of passersby to find our way to where the tour had originally started i.e at the welcome centre. Again approaches to the staff at this location for information appeared to fall on deaf ears. All in all I strongly advise booking an alternative Company.

We really wanted to see a musical, as neither of us had done that in NYC before. Our top priority was Lion King, but it was just so expensive. One day we passed the visitor's center located between 47th and 48th st. on 8th ave, and we saw the sign: "Broadway tickets on sale here". So we went in, to ask some questions about it. At the counter, I asked whether it would be cheaper to by them at the visitor's center, or if it would be the same price as at the box office. She assured me that they would get a better price for the best seats. So she called around, and got us to tickets for $210 each. I knew that the best seats were sold for $215 at the box office, so I thought to myself that we at least saved $10 total ;-)
The show was the next day, and we had to stop by the visitor's center, to pick up the tickets. - a bit of an inconvenience, but it was ok.
When standing in line, I realise that the price on the ticket says $161, not $210 as we paid. And sure enough, when we were shown to our seats, they were far from the best. My boyfriend sitting next to me, couldn't even see the whole stage.
Unfortunately the visitor's center was closed after the show, so we went there first thing next morning, to ask them were the missing $98 went.
When we got there, the manager kept saying that that was just how they did it. That they could not know which tickets were available before the day of the show, so they just charged the maximum price.
I asked where the $98 went, and he was very vague. At first he said that the box office at Lion King got them.
I kept trying to get some kind of compensation for the loss, but he kept saying that there was nothing he could do, and that was just how they sold the tickets.
I asked again, where the $98 were, and all of a sudden, he said it was the visitor's center that kept them for the trouble. After this he picked up the phone, and started talking, completely ignoring us, until we had to leave.
Lion King was still an amazing experience, but this incident ruined it a bit for us.

Very good tours with knowledgable tour guides and ample coverage of the entire city..

Really Good Experience - I purchased the Freestyle Package with 5 Attractions and everything went really good. We use the buses all day long and all the passes. I would recommend this over all the other options - the waiting time for this and all other passes available are the same unless you have the VIP pass - that may be useful on some other times of the year - in our case I believe that the longest we wait was 15 minutes.

It was boring and seems shorter than past times. The moderator was a nuisance - no real information given. This our last time doing hop on and off.

Citysights offers a lot for your money, but make sure that you will have the time to do enough to get your money's worth. Also, make sure the tours listed in the offer are the ones you are looking for - for example, we wanted to view the 911 memorial museum, but the 911 museum included was a different one than we expected. The Statue of Liberty tour was confusing as well. It did allow us to skip lines, and the bus tours were good, although hearing the tour guide through the ear pieces was sometimes difficult.

My mom and I have done CitySights NY each year for a probably a decade at this point and always loved it. We've recommended it several time. I must say that this trip, our experience wasn't anything to write home about. Nothing BAD per say.. But the guides were a little more "brash" than in the past.
Also - at the Downtown/City Hall stop - we waited (along with the LONG line of other people) 30 minutes before leaving to walk to another stop, just to pass some time. A bus did come eventually, but there was no communication of why there where absolutely NO buses in the area.
Just seems that when the tours were JUST CitySights NY (instead of the merger with Gray Line) the tours were a lot better and there were more buses (though I'm not sure that makes sense since there should be MORE buses now!)
A nice trip, but average bus tour indeed.

Purchased the freestyle 72 hours pass, great purchase, all vouchers were redeemable, the hop on hop off bus was a great way to get around. The customer service was great, the vouchers for each event tells you where to go and so on, EVERYTHING is on the voucher. We went first week of October, didn't have issues with waiting for bus like most people said. Don't like to wait, go of season, don't go in the summer. Would definitely do this again!

Worth the money to enjoy the tour, however, a bit expensive.

Great cruise, great helicopter flight but poor welcoming by the ticket lady at pier 78, on the contrary the guy at pier 6 was very nice. The quality of the comments during the bus tours depended on the guide.

I like CitySights NY is it easy way to get around and see New York. It allows you to Hop off to see only the parts of New York you wish to see and Hop On when ready to move on. The 48 hour allows to do different tours along with the sights at night and also from a boat. This was my second time in New York and the second time on CitySights NY

All the enthusiasm and excitement died at the ticketing office itself. Even after booking online, there was 1.5 hrs wait at their office because of long line. The people were very unfriendly and it was very hot inside the place. Luckily the counter person was nice and did a good job.
If you have small children or elderly people, watch out. This may not be a good experience for them to stand in that hot/humid office for 1+ hour.

The cruise was great. We got to see a lot of NYC sights. However, the guide was not very friendly; he was actually kinda rude, which reflects badly on the Big Apple.

This is the best way how to see everything from a big city without a lot of walking. Night tour was amazing, we went it twice. Ferry tour is also included and it was really something. You can easily find the bus stops, there are many men in red who belong to GREY LINE and they help you everytime. Some tour guides were funny, we had really great three days with GREY LINE tours in NY.

My sister, a friend, and I hopped on at South Street Seaport when a rain storm was almost upon us. Instead of remaining in a sheltered place when the torrential downpour with lightning and thunder started, the driver started moving and the guide refused to let passengers go downstairs until it was too late. (Of course, she was the first one to go down below.) When we got to the lower level, everyone on board was soaking wet and crowded together. Some found seats, as I did, on a metal sort of bench. There was a black box-type object behind me. When I was finally able to move to the upper deck after the storm, I was told that my soaking wet light green shirt and khaki pants had black areas. There was nothing to conceal the unsightly mess. Since we were dropped off several blocks from Port Authority, I had to walk several blocks on the streets of NY in this unsightly condition with soaking wet hair and stained, wet clothing. When I returned home, I was unable to remove the black areas from my almost-new clothing, despite using various cleaning fluids and products. So almost $100 worth of clothing was ruined. It was not a pleasant experience and I will never use this service again.
