One of the biggest scams of 2019. They offer a 60$ for students if they open an account with 5 transactions, however, in the site it never says it will take 3-4 months to get the money. The only way to find out if it’s you call them and wait on the liner for costumer service. terrible bank!

I had an excellent experience dealing with Lily Almeida @ cibc heartland regarding investing accounts. She is very knowledgeable and takes the time to understand your needs and explains all available options. She goes above and beyond to ensure all your other banking needs are met and explains what is available to you. On top of that she makes effort to follow up and ensure the customer needs are met, excellent customer service! I rate CIBC at 4 star but I rate Lily at 6/5 stars.

They made a mistake when giving me my account info so I missed a pay day, I deposited cash under $500 and it was held and the last and final straw I went online to stop a payment from going through even though they agent who helped me said as long as I got the name and amount it would be stopped, came to see it went through and now I’m getting charged because they couldn’t stop the payment from going through all cause it had a few letters more. So unimpressed and very unhappy will be closing down an account that I haven’t even had for a year due to this incompetence !! Bank elsewhere people save yourselves the headache !!

it would be much to long if i wrote all of the issues i have had with this company in the past 2 weeks. Long story short, when i opened a brand new savings account on my debit card they transferred all of my funds into said savings account without telling me, causing MANY service fees including one of 315$. Upon going into the branch the customer service rep had no real explanation for what happened or why it did so. mistakes happen i understand that, but take responsibility and if you don’t know what happened, rectify the situation and make your customer feel safe putting OUR money in YOUR bank. i now am checking my online banking multiple times a day expecting to see another mistake. obviously by seeing their overall rating on this website among many others, DO NOT CHOOSE CIBC. after 10 years of having an account this has made me decide to switch all of my banking over to TD.

I used to trust this bank but now I believe they are scam artists. They messed up my credit rating by putting the address of an investment property as my main address. I have lived in my personal residence for over 39 years but because of their oversight (or possibly intended recklessness) every time I apply for credit I get a phone call. I have phoned CIBC numerous times to get them to remove this incorrect address but the person is never there and always calls back saying she doesn't understand. More importantly they waited until i renewed my 3 mortgages with them and then increased my line of credit by 4%. I have never missed a payment on my mortgages so I couldn't understand why they would raise my interest by such a large percentage. I called to try to resolve the issue but all the person would do is give me the phone numbers of Equifax and Trans Union,. He told me to call them to fix the incorrect address. But CIBC is the culprit who gave them the incorrect address! My credit rating was harmed by the CIBC either inadvertently or intentionally and now they were dumping the mess on my shoulders! Obviously if they tried to do that before I renewed my mortgages, I would have looked elsewhere -- especially as all three mortgages are for investment properties and are far less then the value of the properties. One thing is 100% certain. When it comes to renewing my mortages again, CIBC will not be considered.

Very poor customer service of CIBC in Kingston area. They don't want to put extra staff to handle the 20 people in the line. Very poor service. To deposit money some time customers have to wait 30-45 minutes.

What a scam this bank is? Never open an account here. Crappy customer service actually more useless than anything. I am sure everyone heard of free global transfer ... it’s a scam. Money just came back. They said they can sent it through via transfer but not global transfer and the messed up part is it is the same account number it would go to. Wow! Biggest scam artist. Look at the reviews it have. I wish I had seen the reviews before. If you bank can read this I swear I will give you so much bad reviews all over so everyone knows. I had been with CIBC for 8 yrs, had an overdraft protection account. My leg had been severely injured at work and had payments due on bills, while waiting for WCB to get that ball rolling I was assured I would be given time on my payment that was due. I only needed a few days until I’d receive compensation for my injury ( 9 months on crushes) and would be able to cover the payments due. CIBC reported a late payment on my overdraft protection and called it delinquent on payment!!! I was so mad, I was bed ridden, I informed them immediately of my situation, had 12,000 lbs of concrete crush my leg. You’d think they’d understand?!!! Hell no! They ruin even their own customers credit regardless of the situation! WORST BANK EVER!!

Disgusting bank. Was very good to me for 5 years but based one one manager who is in fact RACIST and rude. At canyon meadows deer valley in Calgary . Would not answer a question I had when I was with a 5 year old and we were in a domestic violence situation. Thought we could trust our bank we have been with for 5 years. They don’t care about their loyal customers and she decided to close my whole account due to me calling her rude. What a nasty disgusting bank do not bank with this racist bank !!!!

This bank is nothing but a rip off! With overdraft protection, they still rip me off this month for $45.00.Trying reason with the representatives is a complete waste of time.Best thing to do is not dealing with the bank! I've caught them back dating items to cover up there tracks and over charging service charges.If I could give them a zero star,I would!

Sued me for a credit card default in the Supreme court while being treated for cancer and pulmonary Hypertension,they wouldn't offer me a loan because my income and credit rating were to low! There is of course a broader story to my finacial collapse but cibc was the most vicious they employ the most heartless of law firms, in short they got a judgment and were going to force the sale of my house! And they do this every day in this country to countless Canadians! If you go into a cibc bank you will notice that are largely staffed by heavy accented non Canadians! They put on a sweet puppy dog face to hid their usery and greedy pursuits! They issue credit cards at outrageous interest rates so there offshore clients can sip tall drinks in the Caribbean on sandy beaches! There are much better options elsewhere than dealing this predatory Financial institution! I have a hate for these people I cannot put into words!

CIBC St Lucia, do not deserve any stars at all. The staff have got to be the rudest individuals I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with. They have no customer service skills at all, CIBC should be ashamed of themselves employing these despicable people. They are extremely slow at their job and behave as if you are beneath them when you are trying to get your banking done. Only the caribbean would tolerate this type of behaviour, if this was a bank in Europe or US these people would not be able to work. They are disgusting! I have no choice but to use them on behalf of my Mother as she banks with them and accepts the rudeness as she is very mild mannered, but, if it were me, I would have taken out my money long ago and banked elsewhere. Shame on you CIBC! You should be monitering your staff's behaviour. I am not alone in these sentiments as I have spoken to several people about this who just like me are disgusted and dread using your banking services!

I hate CIBC. At the start of each month I keep finding they have previously put my accounts in the negative then charge me overdraft fees when my account was never in the negative. Then they take days to return my money when it was all their fault and I call them on it. Their customer service is terrible all the way around, they don't have enough tellers and their hours suck. I'm heading to a new bank asap. CIBC has horrible ratings on all the sites and yet they seem to pay no attention to any of it.

Julia's lack of common good manners in the new CIBC Smart Account commercials is EXTREMELY offensive! Julia goes about her day of stop and shop, cab riding around the city and NOT ONCE did she offer a THANK YOU! She barely looks any of the service staff in the eye totally avoiding any contact with these people! What a display of this generations self centred "all about me" mentality!

They offered a overdraft and when it was used every month and refilled every month. they locked the account and said it didn't have money for 90 days but i get paid every 30 days well beyond what they offer for overdraft. i contacted them but they said i have to have the money in the account for 24 hours but i know i did. now i have to deal with at least 3 nsf payments and explain to another handful of company why i cant make their payments....thanks cibc

If I can, I want to give ZERO star. I haven’t had any rejection of credit card ever even I was a student. However, I have a job and sufficient income now, I cannot get credit card at this bank. Also, my credit score is good enough, and it is minimum 770points, which means there is no reason for the rejection even they don’t give me exact reason for that.

Best bank I've ever been with as far as customer service, hands down! CIBC clearly appriciates their clients & has always gone above & beyond to help me with any of my banking needs. Can't say enough good stuff, I've neverhad a negative experience with CIBC cutomer service or with receiving loans. As well as they actually have helped me to build my credit (I've never had a lot of money) & make my money work for me! Love this bank!!!

Called to cancel a pre-auth debit, was told it was all done, got charged for the payment anyway. Then got told i have to close my account to stop the payments and that they have no way to cancel a pre-auth agreement. The bank cant control who can and cant take money out of the account apparently (TD can...). Was fun to be told it was all my fault and that there isnt any guarantee on a stop payment and that they didnt care that a company that i cancelled the payment agreement with took my rent money.

The worst banking experience ever!
After 2 weeks my card doesn't work in stores! They wasted my time 1 week to activate my accout and my card doesn't work online too!I went to their branches 2.3 times and they didn't solve my problem. I have trouble buying everything everyday!

Awful customer service. The phone is can take an hour or more of wait time to get through, not sure who has the kind of time and then when you do if the CS rep on the other side doesn't like you then they just hang up on you and likely laugh about it.
Then if you leave a message they say they will get back to you THE NEXT BUSINESS DAY !!! What the heck is that !! And then of course they don't.
