We bought an Omega watch INCLUDING original box and papers by a trusted seller since 2017 in Chrono24....The watch came in a cheep China box and NO papers! We tried and rate this seller, but Chrono24 refused to public it: 'against their policy guidelines'!!!! When we made a complaint to Chrono 24, they just said we could rate it again....NO help to find here, and the money is paid. A watch without papers is worth 1/2 the price, so we find this a scam! DONT trust all sellers from Chrono 24 as Chrono24 takes no responsability for anything apparently.

I have been a C24 member for more than 10 years now. As a watch fan, I am always searching for a new watch. The C24 evolution over the years has been downgrading and the quality went from ok to bad and now to even worse.
The main problem dealing with C24 is that nobody controls anybody and everyone does what they please. I have been trying to buy a high-end luxury watch but I encountered many problems;
- many times the published watches were not available (even if there was a green light) or are/were sold out a long time ago.
- the pictures of the real watches are not even uploaded and you can see a logo instead
- description of the items are not accurate in 60% of the cases
-the images shown are copied from the catalogue and are not showing the actual watch for sale.
-many sellers don't even respond.
-price suggestion button means that you are able to make an offer, but it seems the sellers are annoyed if you propose a lower price (5-10% off.) Many times they just ignore you or cancel the offer directly.
-the prices you see are unreal (you have to pay extra for shipping and extra for credit card payment) although the C24 says "no extra cost."
-the "Trusted seller" doesn't mean anything.
-the "Trusted check out" doesn't protect the buyer.
-once you pay, you are left behind and ignored (in one month they were unable to find a solution).
-inflated prices (used to be 25% + off).
Now my story:
I recently bought a Cartier watch through C24 and sold by MAIER VINTAGE jewellery shop in Lyon. I closely examined all the conditions, paying options, extra cost and buyer's protection. Everything from Chrono24 web page looked fine and was clearly explained. But the reality was completely different.
Once we agreed on price, the seller charged 100€ more for delivery. I thought it was too much, but he/she said it was actually more what the SECURED FedEx parcel costs. Many of the shops offer free shipping when the item is expensive, that's why I was surprised that I had to pay extra on top of the price tag.
The watch in question was published as NEW and UNWORN from an old stock, year 2019. There was a catalogue picture shown for this watch, not of the real one!
I didn't make any fuss about it as I believed the watch was new and unworn...we all know what that kind of watches look like, right? As it was bought from a boutique today?!!?
When I was making the payment the final amount was then increased by almost 100€ by C24 and was only shown on the final page (price tag + 200€) Yes, C24 charges 2% more if you pay with Amex, not with other cards. I contacted them about this and I did not get any answer.
The payment took me 10 days to complete as there was some kind of web error but they extended the time limit (that's why I gave them 1* and not 0).
I never heard a word from MAIER Vintage during that process even though I kept them informed about this issue.
Once the payment got accepted, the seller took 3 days to send the watch.
The package was brought by a plain clothes person, not the official FedEx staff, and I was not required to sign anything or show my identity. I was shocked.
When I opened the package I found out the following:
- the package was manipulated.
- missing additional strap and folding buckle that come with the watch.
- the watch was not new (with stickers and seals) but had been already used and modified from its original version. There were 3 links missing and the bracelet was refitted to a different size.
- warranty was stamped 3 months before I bought the watch from a 3rd seller and was in a booklet rather than on a electronic warranty card that Cartier uses for more than a year now!.
I have no problem at all buying used watches, as long as I know from the very beginning what I am buying and that this is clearly written and shown, MAIER VINTAGE did nothing of this, they advertise new unworn watches, but sell used ones!
I wrote a complaint to Chrono and as I did not receive any reply, I made an official claim next day.
I never confirmed the delivery, so I could let them know that something went wrong, but Chrono confirmed that automatically for me.
It's been now 28 days since the incident, I submitted all the photos and several emails to Chrono but the only thing they did was forwarding my complaint to MAIER. Oh, what an efficient service and buyer's protection!!
MAIER shop already answered that everything was perfect!!!! Excuse me? They didn't provide any proof but I did.
The FedEX doesn't accept any liability (I paid for a secured shipment), instead I was redirected to the seller who sent the package and C24 hasn't done enough to solve this. Of course, why should they, the money is already on their account and they will get additional fee from the seller too!
I paid to Chrono and they have to assume the responsibility and I assure you they will, sooner or later. It is a ghost company and once you pay, they are not interested at all if something goes wrong. They have the money and they should deal with it.
Of course, they can't monitor the unacceptable behaviour of some sellers who are corrupt and dishonest, but if they charge the commission they must reimburse the damage. I asked them to suspend the MAIER vintage temporary from selling on this platform until they provide a solution, but they didn't. So MAIER vintage can keep doing business as usual.
The best thing is that the MAIER said that if I return the watch with full set and everything what it comes with it, they will refund... Excuse me? I think I mentioned several times what was the complaint about.
At this point I asked Chrono politely to reimburse 1456€ for this irregularity (condition of the watch, after market additinal items which are missing) but until today this issue was not solved.
Buy from chrono24 only if you must, but never ever pay by wire transfer. If something goes wrong you will be stuck in neverending problem. You have a slight chance to solve the possible irregularity with your card company if you opt for this paying option.
Think twice before making an order, you will be left uncertain if you really get what you paid for!
I am surprised that Chrono has so many 5* ratings here. If I am one of the unlucky customers, I would accept that Chrono dealt with its own mess efficiently, honestly and quickly.
My opinion written above is what I experienced and is by no means an insult, it is simply a genuine experience which I wanted to share with this community. Not everything is 5* rating. C24 can't just say it is false and report it.
