My experience with buying a Chilipad from Kryo was absolutely appalling. I'm based in the UK but had listened to a podcast about the Chilipad and thought it sounded great and decided to buy one. When I first received the Chilipad and set it up, it was February in London so the ambient temperature was not high and it cooled down to the lowest temperature (55F) successfully. Until I got in bed... It almost immediately started heating up when I was in bed and it was soon back up to the starting temperature. I emailed Kryo to explain the issue and they suggested maybe I just needed to shake the pad out a bit in case it was too tight where the water feeds in. I tried this on a few separate occasions because it hadn't worked. I sent them a photo of where I had the Chilipad located to see if they thought it didn't have enough space around it. I was told the setup was fine and the pad must be faulty and they would post me a new one. Another day I had to work from home and the replacement pad was delivered but it turned out that I continued to have the same problem with it not staying cold once I got in bed. Kryo said I must have another defective pad (although apparently defective pads are rare) and they would send me a replacement. I said I didn't want them to send me a third pad until we were absolutely sure there was no other potential cause for the pad not staying cool. But they went ahead and sent me a third pad anyway. It arrived and surprise, surprise - same problem as with the first two pads. Finally after more than 3 months, 3 days working at home for deliveries and untold amount of time writing emails back and forth (about 125 emails), they asked for the dimensions of my bedroom. When I told them, they said that the room wasn't big enough for the Chilipad to work - my room is 11ft by 9ft and the Chilipad requires 11ft by 12ft. When I said that this information should have been on the website so I could have avoided buying a product not suitable for me, they said they apologised but it's not possible to put all information on the website!!! Totally ridiculous. I told them I recognised that my bedroom in central London is likely smaller than most American bedrooms but that surely bedrooms in places like Manhattan must be a similar size and they acknowledged that the units seemed to work less well in Manhattan. They refunded the cost of the Chilipad - although accidentally because someone in finance made a mistake... But I'm still £132 out of pocket on import duty in addition to the massive inconvenience and complete, massive waste of time. I asked them to compensate me for the import duty but they refused.
Aside from the issues I had that seem to be because my bedroom isn't big enough, I've spoken to some other people who've bought a Chilipad and it sounded like they also found that the Chilipad wasn't very effective in maintaining the set temperature. And I don't think it's really capable of getting down more than 10 degrees F below ambient temperature - so if the room is hot you can forget getting anywhere close to 55F). It's also disappointingly noisy. And pretty unsightly. It would be better if you could put it under your bed (not an option for me as I have drawers) which apparently is possible with the latest model that I received (not that they'd updated the instructions to say this at the point I received it). But my strong advice would be don't bother with the Chilipad!

I would love to test it out but I ordered their product and can't get them to send it to me. 1000 Dollars later I'm still waiting. If they can't send their product in a decent amount of time they should say so. Not happy with the wait times and the lack of service. Once they have your money they don't seem to care anymore. They sent a final email saying it would be shipped in 1 1/2 months which means it will arrive in roughly 2 months from the order date. If you want a product from them expect a 2 month wait time.

I always sleep hot and we do not have AC in our house. A fan never works in the summer. I bought a queen and set the temp to 55 degrees. To my amazement, I was cold all night long even though it was 85 degrees inside. I had never been so happy to be freezing all night long. I now set the temp to 65 degrees though it is nice to know it works and really can go to 55. No more fans and no more tossing and turning all night long.

This mattress really helped my sleep at night - my wife and I own a foam mattress and anyone that has one knows that foam mattresses hold heat, which is fine during winter but not in the summer. The ChiliPad has lights that are on during operation, but if you put it under the bed as intended, the lights don't bother you at all. This product is exactly as described. All together I would highly recommend this to anyone. I was having trouble staying asleep because I was too hot through the night and now I sleep comfortably through the night!
