a ways back the password security thing was breached and any simple passwords were locked. I reached out a while later (after finishing some college courses) because the account I made when I was younger had been locked and I wanted to get back to trading pets for art. (The independent artist community is absolutely amazing). I didn't remember the fake birthday I plugged in while making the account because I thought I was so slick with my "18+" age to access whatever when I was like 13 and my email address had been perma locked through Hotmail. I reached out to the help team and gave a detailed description of a story I had written on CS, pets in hidden boxes that I had collected, store pets I had, my personal art store that I ran, and I even showed my deviant art where I made and posted art for other CS users. They accused me of going onto CS for darker purposes because why would I write a fake age when I was young... idk if anyone else use to write fake ages to access more stuff on websites but I use to do it all the time.... anyway all my friends on my friends list were users who had been part of CS since I started way back when or people I knew in real life. Everyone I communicated with outside of the trading, buying, and selling of art or pets was my own age. The customer service was horrible and the accusation made me feel disgusting. I want to support artists and get art of my characters at a good deal (a pet i got for free instead of for money for example) but at this point it isn't even worth it which is a shame because like I said the art is amazing. I don't recommend getting attached to any pets or pictures you might get because obviously they aren't invested in keeping you as a consumer and if you happen to get OC art from there, for goodness sake save it somewhere else. Avoid the staff at all cost. Enjoy the pictures of the pets but don't expect to keep them if there is an error with your account and above all don't buy pets from their store. You won't be getting them back if you ever get locked out.

I joined chickensmoothie in 2011 after foopets deleted their forums. And as a 13 year old who'd lost their community I found solace in a similar website with more features and a thriving community. But, this was just my first impression, you see as time went on my experience on chickensmoothie changed, drastically. And today I'd like to share this with you.
As I previously stated, I was 13 when I joined Chickensmoothie (CS), and I was almost immediately drawn to the oekaki forums. A place where users were making art, adoptable characters and, in general, having fun. What I didn't realize is that this would bring me YEARS of abuse and trauma I still live with today at 21.
The oekaki forums are the wild, wild west of CS. They're TERRIBLY regulated. At 13 I met an adult who I will refer to as "B", this is not their username nor their name. B was interested in roleplaying with a character I had one a few months prior in a contest I spent hours on. We became friends, added each other on skype and roleplayed for a long while. I don't want to speak of all the things B did, but one that specifically stands out is when I was only 15 years of age, this person made a skype group chat with myself and several other people. There were maybe 8 or 9 minors in the chat, myself included, and 3 adults, B included. B, one of the other adults and a 17 year old (a minor in her state) would post NSFW content in the group. We'd leave and be added back repeatedly, despite asking to be left alone, that we'd join back when that was over. They'd harass us with disgusting RP concepts (ex: eating and barfing up a member of the group) over and over to where we made ANOTHER group to get away from it before they finally got the message. B had admitted to MANY disgusting things. Having a crush on me when I was a minor, dated a minor online, being attracted to things I didn't need to know about
And the worst part is, because this happened on SKYPE, nothing could be done. I personally didn't report this to the CS mods, but someone else had. They were basically told that since it happened off site, that nothing could be done. Let me reiterate. On a childrens website, someone over the age of 18 DATED A MINOR and they didn't remove them because the proof was on skype. Isn't that just Lovely.
But you see it doesn't end there. The oekaki forums CONTINUE to get worse. Recently two 18+ users were found out having twitter accounts depicting underage characters in sexual situations, ya know, CP. One of these users owns a VERY popular adoptable species on the website that you can breed. But specifically? You can breed two characters that are second cousins. Yeah, incest. This person ALSO has a hidden rule for banned users from said adoptables that is ILLEGAL. My friend group has been trying for YEARS to get this taken care of with NO luck. The only progress I made is when I reported them for the illegal rule, but despite this, it still goes on behind the scenes. Not to mention the fact that the staff of this adoptables BULLIED a minor off ALL art websites and CS Staff assisted in BANNING them from the site! They were a COPPA user!
I've seen artists BLATANTLY breaking oekaki forum rules and getting a pass because they were popular or the oekaki moderator, just happened to like them. I love that the oekaki moderators that blatantly abuse their power! What a great CHILDRENS website!
This is just a DROP in the bucket of things I've seen on Chickensmoothie. It is NOT safe for children. Please do NOT let your kids on this website. And please dear GOD fix your moderation.

I've been a member of this website for almost a decade at this point, and I've never had so many regrets. The moderators are legitimately terrifying and distant from their community, and the people promoted to positions of power abuse their powers far too often and show blatant favortisim to their rulebreaking friends.
The obvious selling point of this website are the 'adoptable characters' that are released monthly. Having been on the website for a decade now, I can confirm that this aspect of the website is the most heavily advertized and the most dissappointing fufilment wise. There are no rewards or benefits for collecting the site adoptables, and there are no paid user customization options like Neopets, Furvilla, Flight Rising and other similar websites (Where you can pay USD for a completly custom character). Each user has the chance to get the exact same pets and the exact same items. There are technically 'rarity limits', as certain designs have a small percentage of being the final outcome... but it is terribly easy to exploit through alternate accounts or with a close knit friend group.
There are 18+ boards, and while the content is explicitly nonsexual due to site rules, it is very uncomfortable to visit those boards. Its far too easy for children to lie about their age and gain access to these forum boards.
The oekaki (art forums) and Roleplay forums are honestly the worst in my opinion. The oekaki moderators are very inconsistant, punishing users for covering adoptables with covers (a harmless infraction) and not punishing them or posting innapropriate content. I was there for the content seen in Val C.'s review; and I was one of the people who attempted to report that user multiple times over the years. There are more people who post similar content, and havent been punished as of yet. There are constant cases of art theft and character theft, and the site moderators do next to nothing to prevent it.
The adoptable species / user made adoptables are the worst. Never before have I seen such blatant overcharging of site currency/ USD for the absolute minimum of a character design on a premade base. While there is a policy on CS to try and prevent this, the site mods and admins turn a blind eye to infractions constantly. The abuse of forum users by the creators and staff of the usermade adoptable species is also unacceptable. The website cs-discouse.tumblr.com showcase the toxicity of the usermade adoptables board, the abuse the users experience and more.
The roleplay boards are just as bad, with constant spamming of one-word posts or one sentence posts that are considered "roleplay posts". I don't know about you, but to me a proper roleplay role should be immersive and detailed, and not something you just do in one sentence.
Overall, I would avoid this website and switch to one that is more engaging at least. Try Furvilla, Mweor or even Pokefarm if you want 'adoptables' with some sort of forum.

The staff on this website absolutely love to abuse their power at any chance they get and they're extremely unfriendly to interact with... If you can, please stay as far away from you can from this website. It is managed poorly at best (new events are boring and repetitive, it's always the same thing and lasting shorter and shorter as time goes on!!) As a child playing this website, I was morbidly horrified to get a pm from any colorful usernames (staff). For a "child friendly" website, it creates a room of a LOT of anxiety. Especially when each moderator has a different understanding of the rules so you get a warning from one, and then are told "it's ok to do" by another?!?!?! HELLO?!??!?!?
To be clear, moderators do not even deal with questionable and potentially upsetting artworks that are posted to their art system (attached). If I had a young child playing this website, I would NOT want them to see something so gross like this on the only forums they can interact with (when COPPA'd). Instead, the lovely mods replied that it was "ok". It is very upsetting, and disrespectful really. (one artwork that they did not remove was fetus-based, but the user was banned only AFTER they drew genitalia on the system...Like the questionable things before wasn't already a red flag?! )

I was playing with my sister, got a gift, and was banned for it. Worst site ever. I tried ilexplaining it to them and Tess's response was that it looked more loke cheating than family trading and if I wanted to continue plating that i had to create a new account and make sure that every GIFT was evenly balanced. HOW DO YOU EVENLY BALANCE A GIFT!!! So evem if you tried to explain yourself, they dont care. Wjy would anyone want to cheat on a stupid site that has no actual purpose. Rhey need to loosen up and chill on the banning people.

Years ago me and my step sister were shown this by our future sister-in-law. We all enjoyed playing it together. Didn't realize trading between actual friends back then was so horrifically unacceptable- I'm sorry but why would you always want to trade with complete strangers? Seems very odd, can't play with real life actual friends or family without them automatically assuming you're cheating without question. Which first off its free to join and the rarity system had long since been destroyed so how can anyone cheat and what would the point be? Second, you banned the two people who have given you actual money, the active one had $60 chicken dollars in her account- probably won't compensate for that. I simply tried to get my password to play again with my sister and they ban my whole family instead and remove all the pets from the account they gave me access to, so what was the point of that when you could've just told me to make a new one? I could've still at least looked at my old collection and tried to reduplicate it through a lot of hard work and dedication. But no, automatic cheaters, all of us.

This site used to be fun, now that they're eliminated part of their rarity system known as the "list" though, trading your pets has been haywire. Everyone way overvalues some and they overcharge you, or they try to underpay for ones you paid face value for. Not to mention that everyone now is kind of rude, they never edit anything and when someone says they're looking for trades what it really means is they want offers and they're going to cancel pretty much all of them. I used to love this website, but ever since they eliminated not only that rarity list, but also the ability to have a civil rant thread to ease frustrations to topics such as these that are happening. The website has gone extremely downhill and I'm disappointed.

I love this game and could play it for hours on end,When you need help you get help from real people and I've only noticed 1 glitch! But if you do play it for hours on end it can get a little boring, Great game to play for a hour or two but no longer

It's a fun game if you like trading and collecting item games. What's not fun about this site is the fact it is EXTREMELY liberal. Everywhere you go there's at least one user who is flashing their homosexuality or something else at you in their name, profile picture, or signature. This is a KIDS game. This shouldn't be allowed when there are children playing the game. Family friendly site? Nope.

Chicken smoothie is a wonderful website. I have never had any problems with them; there are little to no glitches and contacting them is a breeze. You get a direct response from a real person every time and they are always able to help. For any concerned parents, I can assure you that the website is well moderated to prevent swearing, sharing of personal information, and inappropriate subjects. While there are adults on here, I've never seen any problems with pedophiles, and the risk of such are low anyways because of the moderation. Overall, it is a quality game filled with kind people where kids of all ages can have fun. I recommend it.

This site is great! I've been part of Chicken Smoothie since 2012, and have never experienced problems with malware or bots. Also, it's friendly towards children. They even have a 18+ forum where older users can complain (without cursing or referencing inappropriate stuff!) about the daily struggles of adult life. They do allow the very minimal use use of 'minor' curse words (h**l or d**n for two examples), but are very strict about cursing otherwise (so even though they'd allow minor curse words they would punish you if you use them in high proportion or if you use other curse words). All in all, good site for tweens and up to play on!

I love this site, and have been a part of it for a few years now. For such a big site the community is surprisingly good and I really like it because you don't have to pay any money to enjoy it. I do support this site when I can. The art is really nice and though the concept is a simple one it's really addictive!

Family-friendly, good art, great trading and forum system, extremely unique adoptable designs. This site gets an A+ in every area, except MAYBE supporting beginner artists, since the site has such nice artwork.

A very clean and safe site. Nice graphics, no adult content, and generally just a nice adoptables site to check into every few days.

Been using for years. No inappropriate content, even on user boards. Completely free unless you want clothes for your pets, but the site does not pressure you to buy them at all.
