Whatever you do. Do not take out car insurance with the Halifax Car insurance. The service is appalling and the way they go on when you make a claim is disgusting!!!

Totally agree with minus no stars!!!
I had a car accident last year, halifax came up cheapest on line so I went with them.
Like a fool.
Several days later got a later saying my declaration was false and a further charge would be payable to carry on with the policy.
Which I did, just to make life easier.I was also told by halifax that the charge would be refundable once the claim was settled if it wasn't my fault which it wasn't.
I rang halifax this morning spoke to one of there representatives, who explained that it was the previous insurance provider who had put the additional charge so I rang them explained to them, there reply was it was halifax who had put the charge on and it was up to them to refund the money so i rang halifax again, what was MOST frustrating yiu have to go through all the automated services before you can speak to a human being, but what is more annoying the department I needed to speak to wasn't on the automated services,I went through to claims department, was told I would have to speak to customer services, guess what happened next had to go through all the automated services again, what a perlava.finally got through to the correct department.
Why is it when dealing with insurance companies ie halifax you find out there a 3 party just a broker.no wonder premiums go up when there are so many companies taking a slice of the action.
won't be using Halifax again even though I have a bank account with them 😂

Will never go with Halifax again .

Had a house flood. Halifax home insurance offered £8k when 3 local builders quoted nearer £17k. Sent to ombudsman and waited 8 months for a resolve. They sided with halifax every step of the way, and didn't award a single penny in compensation. The whole process took a year. Our Investigator had pages of evidence which she never read. Said Halifax's offer of £58 to take up a bathroom floor, purchase materials and labour to pay new floor was reasonable. Honest to God utter joke, we learnt the hard way. Go straight to court. Ombudsman is not impartial they side with the business. All totally corrupt avoid like the plague. Dont use them for your home insurance, if anything goes wrong you'll regret it as they try to avoid paying out on anything. Total nightmare, dont put yourself through it. They dont even have customer service as they offer no service. They take your money every month then when it all goes wrong they dont pay out. Use another insurer even if it's more money. Before purchasing home insurance make sure you read reviews. It could save u a lot of time and money!

Be warned that if you make any changes to your policy then you get charged a £25 admin fee. If you choose to cancel your policy then you get charged £55. This is NOT clearly set out when you take up the policy.

I have paid home / contents insurance for many years.
I needed an emergency plumber on Saturday - £120 - and carpet tiles ruined by water - £100
Halifax declined to help and wouldn't pay anything.
Why pay for home insurance ? - when you need help they just turn down every claim.
Will cancel policy and move elsewhere.
AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE.

Just had my renewal documents through for house and contents insurance - for a sanity check i used their own website to get a quote as a new customer - exactly the same details - and it came out £120 cheaper !!!! great way to treat a loyal customer - ring customer services who are able to apply a loyalty discount to my old policy which makes it only £70 more expensive than the online quote! very poor show that i have to be inconvenienced to apply as a new customer in order to get the best price

I had someone roll into my car while it was parked and Halifax handled it well, so I stayed with them for 2 years. However this time whilst I was established driving on the left hand lane (2 lanes) a car came from a side street on the right, over reached the right lane and scratched my car. When the driver didn't stop I followed them, confronted them, phoned the police, took pictures and they left before police arrived. I contacted Halifax who were initially obliging, but when they tried to chase the other driver's insurance company the headaches began. The other driver had 2 policies. So after giving all my information to courtesy car people, solicitors, Halifax and an underwriter, they couldn't deal with it. I've now been passed to another underwriter, solicited and courtesy car people and I was then told because they hadn't even heard from the other insurer after 1 month, I couldn't be approved for a courtesy car because I may be liable for the accident, since there has been no response. Since my policy includes a courtesy car, the garage was made to supply one, while my car has been repaired. I have had non stop phonecalls from dubious companies who say they work on behalf of my underwriter and know every detail of the accident, to my dob and registration number. I contacted the underwriter who say there's nothing they can do, as these companies access their database. The underwriter has given the other insurer 2 deadlines to respond by and they have passed both dates. They were supposed to contact me but haven't. I never hear from them, only the solicitor and when I contact them I have to wait at least 20 minutes to get to speak to someone. Despite being given deadlines nothing is resolved. I have paid my £250 excess and lost some shifts from work. This is now over 2 months after the accident. Halifax are now quoting me double what I paid last year since my claim is now still open, because the underwriter is dragging their feet getting it sorted. Halifax also will not discuss any aspect of my claim despite it being them that I paid to insure me. Absolute joke. Look at the quality of the underwriters before taking a policy on. The underwriter is rated 1 star on here too.

They Pretend to operate with the best intentions but actually ignore them to get money. They have refused to pay out for my car that got stollen whilst been insured
They charge hilarious amounts on their policy. DO NOT FORGET that they charge £700 excess on policy cancellation and update and also have terrible customer service.
They also breached the GDPR regulations .
It has not exactly been the best option for me not until I met Christine. She helped me in securing the £700 which they charged from my credit card cause I changed locations and also helped in seeing that I was paid for the car which I insured and got my funds released to me. I will say this has been the best. [email protected](dot)com

Minus 5 stars. Car insurance had to pay twice £25 admin fee to make changes on policy. This is all done online by me... hmmm how do they justify a fee. Sent me a renewal twice the amount I’ve found elsewhere. I’ve done everything else online but they wont let me cancel online. Called 5 times today and unable to get through. Online chat crashed and they kindly offer to auto renew if they here nothing. Replied to renewal email and auto response said if no claims thanks but anything else not accepted. Jog on you jokers

Awful company, the worst of the worst. My wife lost a 9 carat gold and diamond watch. The watch was no longer available new, only second hand. The value of this was set at £595. The policy says "new for old" however the tiny small print says when the product is no longer available they'll only pay out on the second hand value or nearest equivalent. So they have got out of paying new (where can you get a 9 carat diamond watch for £595!!) Its a minimum of £1500 for a new such watch. We've been well and truly stitched up - this will apply to lots of items - whenever these items are no longer made, they'll just offer you peanuts as second hand value not "NEW FOR OLD" at all. Beware and AVOID this company AT ALL COSTS

Water suddenly pouring in through an outside wall, obviously coming from roof, plasterboard collapsed, although I had buildings, contents and accidental cover, they have advised nothing is covered as there is no obvious storm damage externally, despite the fact it happened after/during a storm on 10/08/19 swiftly cancelled my insurance, never made a claim in 10 years. Appalling service from Halifax, wouldn’t insure a dog kennel with them.

Dreadful service. Am moving house but they won't let me change the address on my policy. Insisting that I have to start a new policy (at an over inflated price, of course) from the date of my move. I'm not sure that it's even legal to refuse to amend address details. (I'm actually moving away from a high risk area in London to a much more rural location many miles away from the city.). Asked to be put through to a manager to escalate my complaint but was told I'd have to wait 72 hours for a call back because they are so busy dealing with other complaints - no surprise there! It's all a scam to try and stop customers moving away and getting a better deal somewhere else. I have now cancelled my policy completely and taken out va new policy with a diffrent company. I'll never have anything to do with Halifax ever again. Suggest you avoid this company from the outset.

A great regret I have about investing with this clown company. I had a good beginning with them which I made my sisters husband also invest and to keep the long story short. We had our accounts closed and money shut off. They are very bad traders that always make you
Loose. I charged a recovery against them for our funds and we got it back by my friends lawyer at Luke.dawn at mail, you can reach him too

Would genuinely leave no stars if I could. Husband smashed his iPad screen, other than that it was in perfect working order, but considering it would be over £200 to get apple to fix it, we chose to claim on the contents as excess was only £100.
On phoning the claims line, we were asked to go to an apple store and get a receipt proving how much it would cost to have it repaired.... ummm, what!? No, we pay our premiums, we’ve just paid the excess, now you come and collect the iPad and fix it please...
After much to’ing and fro’ing they finally agreed to send a courier.
(Courier was ill tempered and rude, but that’s another story)
iPad came back to us just over a week later, beautiful new screen, but wouldn’t turn on. We sent it off with 96% battery left, it came back dead as a dodo. Put it on charge, 24 hours later, still nothing. Could they have broken it? Seems ridiculous seeing as they couldn’t possibly check the new screen works if they dislodged the battery (or worse) during the removal and application process.
Phoned Halifax back, they blamed everyone but the repair people, everyone from ourselves to the courier. Eventually (reluctantly) agreed to collect it again on Monday 24th June, told we would have it back the following Monday. Monday arrived.... nothing. Tuesday.... Wednesday.... Thursday arrived, fed up of waiting we contacted them, only to be told they have now completely broken the iPad and written it off. Marvellous. Thanks for that Halifax.

Never ever will I approach this company for car insurance. After going online I purchased car insurance and paid deposit. A week later they write to me telling me that my car premium is going up nearly double the amount I had signed up to.
When I said no way to new car insurance premium, and told them I am cancelling with them. I was told that they would keep my deposit and only return £11.00 back to me. Despite me being within the cooling off period of cancellation.
Dishonest company who I would not trust to insure my car.
STAY CLEAR OF THESE SHARKS !!
The customer care is non existent.

Awful awful firm. Will try their utmost hardest to get out of paying legitimate claims.
My disabled mother who can not walk properly had £400 stolen whilst in London in sheltered accommodation. Halifax made her travel 50 miles on her own to her house in Kent so she can be “INTERVIEWED”. She got into a car crash as a result of travelling down which she was so traumatised by. After providing all of the information she needed to, they then get back and say that she needs to provide CCTV evidence and without this they won’t pay anything. She has provided a crime reference number and apparently this still isn’t enough. An absolute disgrace of a company. Will be reporting to the insurance ombudsman

Got a car insured with Halifax the proof of no claims proceedure is impossible online and if you have just bought a new car and want to insure it with them they won't accept the renewal notice for you old car which is what they ask for then stick you with a £55 charge for cancelling your policy. Avoid this company at all cost for insurance.

took out car insurance in April thinking with being Halifax and part of my bank they would be a honest company. I was of the understanding if I changed my car I could do so online. tried to do a quote and said a needed to call. I rang this morning first person I got through to appeared to hang up. I called again, once through I asked why I could not do this on line? is this so you can charge me an admin fee I asked? "you would be charged an admin fee even if you did it on line" I was told. REALLY so if I was able to do it online I would be charged £25 for doing it for you. why could I not do it online I asked anyway? it may be due to being early in your policy or unfortunately" the man said " the price is a lot higher than you paid? in that case I said I'm keeping the vehicle I have until the end of my policy can you ensure you do not automatically renew at the end of my policy has I don't feel I can trust the company? one good thing I surpose the man assured that he had put on my account not to renew.

Do not ever get car insurance with halifax, you can only use their approved repairer who for our area has an atrocious review scores and it is use them or it seems you can’t claim! This week we have had issues with getting a front windscreen replaced (2 large cracks spreading into drivers field of view) autowindscreens said a week and a day until they could do it , no good when you are driving to France 4 days before that. So tried to do it the old way, contact autoglass direct like you used to, who said they could do in 2 days! But then what a surprise halifax won’t let them do it! What a joke.

An I've seen some really bad ones but they definitely take the fist place trophy for bad customer service
