Scam outfit, take out an annual policy and there will be a auto renewal clause hidden somewhere in the small print I failed to read my emails (due to being in hospital) and only noticed the money was charged to my credit card, customer service is awful and unhelpful, just same old rubbish "your passed the cooling off period, no refund". Get your car hire excess insurance elsewhere and don't get scammed like me.

Quick easy and cheap cover! Then...when the dodgy car hire company in Portugal hit me with some unfair wheel damage charges, it was relatively easy to claim my 100 Euros back. Please be aware to follow the terms and conditions for making a claim to the letter. It was all easy to find through my booking documents. I took pleasure in reading them out loud at the Goldcar rentals desk to waste as much of their time as possible. As with any claim there are hoops you need to jump through to ensure your claim is paid out so take your time to get it right, and waste theirs as much as possible when you return the car. One day the regulators will actually come down hard on the car hire firms that like ripping people off! Until then... stick with these guys for your excess cover. Excellent!

Ok, so buying the policy online was a breeze. 5 stars for that. But what if the easily-bought policy is no good when it comes to a claim? Unfortunately, I did have to make a claim; not a huge one, but about £200. The claims process was straightforward. Perfectly reasonably, I had to supply various documents, a photo of the damage, etc. Then they raised a couple of requests for another document and some information. Then they paid my claim. The initial payment was slightly too low because they made an assumption about the credit card charge I had incurred (and deducted it), but when I explained and provided evidence, they topped up the payment to the right figure. So it was slightly burdensome, but not unreasonably - they're entitled to check, after all - and the people I dealt with were very pleasant, constructive, and efficient. Hence the 5-star ratting, despite the faffing about!

Claim process was very straightforward - just make sure you have all the documentation to hand (including photos). No problem at all - money paid into my bank account.

Truly a great company. I have saved so much money compared to ripoff care hire charges and when I did need to make a claim, the service was efficient and fast. I had a damaged windscreen in Spain, a tiny stone chip.

£7 vs Hertz £60 for 3 days. Returned the car and there was a tiny dent on door. Was charged by Hertz. Put my claim on my return and few days later there is a cheque in the post. Happy customer

When i paid €60 for annual worldwide cover it was to just prior to our trip to Australia and New Zealand where we planned to hire cars. The £18 per day excess waiver the hire company wanted would have soon racked up so this seemed better value. I wasn't sure about the company and although I searched for reviews most people hadn't had to claim. I had a 'my fault' accident which cost me just short of £1000 while away. I provided the documents carhireexcess needed and had a cheque within days. Can't be positive enough about this company. Way better than paying through the nose to car hire companies. Will use them always from now on.

I used CarHireExcess.com to fully insure a Fiat 500 rented from Noleggiare at Catania Airport. When I returned the car the rental agents went straight away to a dirty windscreen and found a stone chip that they charged me to replace the whole windscreen for, for over £400! Carhireexcess.co.uk is an Irish company. I have used them for many years, minimum 5 to 6 time a year. As long as you do not claim, it is a good company. Unfortunately, I was involved in an accident where the other car was dented (very small dent, as big as a 20p coin), hence I had to make a claim. As this company is an Irish company, they have sent my claim to an Irish Loss Adjustor. It took more than 2 months, and at the end, they refused to pay for my claim. I ended up paying €1000 Euro, despite several calls to Ireland and numerous emails. Carhireexcess.co.uk excuse was that we do not pay for excess for damage caused to other cars, which I was not aware of. It is not written anywhere on their website or emails, their stupid call centre agents won't tell you that either.
Since then, I pay the excess at the rental desk. It is much higher, but when I get back home, I don't need to fork out €1000 Euro and deal with debt collection agencies. I found this business being run by charlatans , stay away at all cost.

I have used Carhireexcess for a long time and for the first time last month,I had to make a claim, my car was vandalised on a car park in France, the whole process was very easy and within 6 days of sending the documents required,I had the cheque in the post for the full amount, 349 Euros and all that for a premium of £13, when Hertz charges 90 Euros
for exactly the same cover,6 times cheaper!
I would recommend everyone to use Carhireexcess. They are the best.

We took this policy out before hiring a car in menorca - where they wanted to charge 30 euros a day at the desk / unfortunate to have to make a claim after paying 1350 euros excess. Cheque received less than a week after submitting claim and documents - fabulous

Had to claim for nearly £200 of damage to a tyre. Had paid a couple of quid for a day's cover.
Claim was settled quickly and received a cheque in the post 7 days after logging the claim.
