They do NOT present all the charges and fees at the time of purchase.
There are SEVEN fees in total. For a $20 item, I paid $60, of which I was only presented with $40 at the time of placing the order.
This is online shopping 101. The buyer must understand the full cost before placing the order.

I went to buy an anime poster as it was rare and I was amazed I found it but then it told me it was out of stock and I didn't know if they got my order or anything. I later then asked them if they got my money and they took ages to answer. Im just waiting for it to arrive to the warehouse. It also told me that there was an error with the purchase which is why I contacted someone. Turns out it said sold out because I was the one that brought it. I had no clue what was going on and all the things you got to go through to just get something is a pain. Ive heard that the price for shipping is expensive so wish me luck. Although I will come back with a review soon to update about the condition, price or if I received it at all!

Buyee is kinda trash. I ordered around 20 items which I estimated to be 3.5 kg and ask them for consolidation. It comes out as 4.8 kg after consolidation done. Such like a huge scam for me. Even if they put protective packaging, I won't believe it would weight 1 kg more.
It makes me cannot send it directly to Singapore because the shipping price increased that much and exceeds the GST-free import limit. Ask them for the solution, the CS is kind at all but still cannot give any good solution. They just said, "just paid the GST".

I purchased 21 items using Buyee, 19 from Mercari and 2 from Yahoo Auctions JP. The items I purchased were mostly anime related merchandises(pins, acrylic keychains, clear files, doujinshi, etc) and the total weight for my packages turned out to be 3760g. Shipping itself was 7300 yen(EMS), add 1000 yen for package consolidation, and I used photo service 2 times which is 600 yen. 2 of my packages from Yahoo Auctions JP required domestic shipping fee to be paid which was 185 yen each. Add that all together, shipping was 9270 yen which was almost what I expected so I was fine with it.
The reason I give 4 out of 5 stars is because of the reasons below:
1: One of my order was suddenly canceled and I contacted support asking why. They said they forwarded my email to one of their department but I never heard back. I did however get refunded for the canceled order.
2: One of my item that I bought, it was suppose to come in 2 separate shipments. I requested photo service assuming maybe they would take the photos accordingly once everything arrived but only 1 shipment of the item came so far and when the second shipment arrived, I requested another photo service to make sure everything was correct. It would have been nice if Buyee took the photos once everything arrived so I didn’t have to request photo service twice. However, next time I know what to do if same problem occurs.
I got everything I ordered in great condition. The reviews online made me worry a bit about using Buyee but I feel confident that I will continue using again.

I used Buyee recently to buy a chainsaw mortiser from Yahoo auctions in Japan. For those that are too lazy to read: My experience was both good and bad. In short it was overall a positive one as I was refunded the value of the item and postage as I paid for insurance, but the main negative was it arrived broken despite paying for extra packaging.
IMPORTANT CUSTOMER NOTE: I realise afterwards, if I shipped multiple items in the same box (which I was going to do), I may not have received a full shipping refund. So please bear this in mind.
I bought the tool (a 15kg beast from Japan) a few months ago, and it went on a boat from Japan. After a few months of waiting, finally the tracking number updated to say that ParcelForce had the item (apparently this is normal when shipping over land and sea due to the time it takes). I had to pay customs, which was expected (though admittedly more than expected, which I have taken up with HM Border Force, this was not related to Buyee as their forms were all correctly entered up and is a separate issue). But unfortunately, when the box arrived it was badly beaten up, they used quite soft lightweight cardboard (too soft and thin for a very angular and heavy tool), lightweight bubble-wrap, but no semi-rigid or rigid protection or heavy duty bubble wrap (no polyurethane or polystyrene).
As a result the bubble wrap had inevitable compacted and popped, and the tool arrived broken in multiple places. Slopping around in the box.
I read their terms and provided photos and evidence to the word (the damage, inside and outside of the box, the packing itself etc), as well as evidence of the original purchase and a screenshot of the tracking on Parcel Force's website marked as received.
They did refund without quibble, which is excellent, though if they had packed it properly in the first place I would now have a working machine and be able to use it. So overall, a good experience, and I would use them again, but only if they improve their boxing and packing.

Let me make a clarification here. I’m a Chinese. I speak and read Chinese, and I write with my poor grammar in English here, but I want people all around the world know how ghetto and dishonest this company is. And let me tell you my theory here: in spite of being a Japanese company with all high-rank officials seemingly Japanese with their names (found on their company website), people work behind this company are possibly Chinese who will rip you off with various tricks such as avoidance and/or always referring to company policy when answering your questions. One of the agents last name with 张 (aka Zhang or Chang or Cheung) just did that to me. These are tricks I have witnessed from my surroundings throughout my childhood back in China.
Back to the main point, I was excited to buy Japanese goods from them. And Upon checkout with shipping, I chose the cheaper option. Given that I have even already paid for packaging fee (¥1500), they suddenly changed their shipping method to EMS in the very last minute. And all you see is that the shipping fee went doubled! Upon careful inquiry they said that the weight didn’t exceed their limit but the dimensions was. That was not even kindly mentioned on their website until I requested from them and they sent me just a link from Japan Post!
I asked for refund on changing the shipping method before submitting another one for EMS shipping, and they said they will be posting it “soon.” I asked how “soon,” and they said they will need to confirm with “relevant department.” Geez, then why are you even working here? What’s the point of having you answering my questions? Also, in countries like the USA, you would inform your customers about how many days will the refund arrive at your credit card/banking account, but this company doesn’t dare to!
Given that they already ripped me off once, this company has lost trust from me. Imagine that they could possibly do other tricks like replacing your original goods with fake ones but still ask you to pay that upgraded shipping fee? lol I decided to dispose all the goods I bid but still pay that freaking $100 USD for disposal fee.
Trust me! This company doesn’t have any service location based in most countries such as in the United States. It’s hard to argue with them for any matters in a civil manner. Once you are on their ship, you realize you are really on a pirate ship. Welcome aboard!

If I could give 0 stars I would. Most of the good reviews for this company are fake and made by them.

Was a little wary using Buyee considering the number of negative reviews on here.
My experience was fine though; purchased one relatively large item. Fees were transparent (the only fee not immediately obvious is that of international shipping, as this can only be calculated once items are with Buyee, but there is a calculator for estimation) and well communicated, extra services were easy to apply or ignore, and a number of shipping options available.
The shipping method I selected was quick and the item came well but not excessively packaged (after applying for Buyee to re-pack the item).
Customer service was quick to respond and helpful when I had questions about listings.
Will likely use Buyee again and update the review if the experience should fall short.

Poor customer service, poor policies especially regarding order cancellations, vastly inferior to competitors like Zenmarket. Do not use this service.

Horrible frustrating experience(s). There are troubles all the time with them, either they ship your item with horrible packaging work (if you don't pay their fee for repacking it), or they cancel your chosen shipping method with dishonest reasons (fake "oversized" reason etc.) forcing you to have your item shipped with the most expensive shipping methods. No flexibility at all about Customs declaration, poor customer service, and in the end the final bill is exorbitant.
Awful service I highly recommend to avoid.

This is just a one big scam. All they will do is steal and extort money. Save yourself some time and money and use a different website

Always got my items quickly, however someone of the staff used my email to order at an online store. misspelling is impossible, as my mail is a combination of my first and last name and obviously also didn't match up in the slightest with the Japanese name on the order confirmation I received out of nowhere.. this is absolutely unacceptable.

Intransparent shipping cost calculation and poor customer service
I used Buyee for several years, more or less satisfied. My last shopping experience however was, that they want to charge me special packaging service for the same parts which were shipped via conventional shipping method before. One really can’t trust them.

Buyee is bad, really very bad!!! I should have read the reviews here. I tried BUYEE. I bought an item which is silver. Bought their inspection plan. Received one which is different and worst, broken. Contacted their customer service, a Francis B, repeatedly intercepted all my emails and replied with very sarcastic, caustic, offensive, insulting, unprofessional and totally inappropriate emails (Anyone keen, I have screenshots). Worse, he is writing in the position and capacity of a customer service .and staff of Buyee to a customer. Yet he wrote in such condescending tone trying to show off his linguistics skills, legal knowledge and whatever intellect he has. Yet he totally could not unerstand and conflated/confused my concerns.. I am still shocked and shaken and upset to this day.

If I could give negative stars I would have give them.
Buyee DOES NOT have customer protections in case:
1) the seller selling imitate/bootleg items
2) even if you win at low price e.g. 1 yen bid, the seller slyly charge you at domestic shipping. This utterly unethical.
When contact buyee service, they only reply, that us, as a customer should have contact them first. This company is a really bad proxy service company. I DO NOT recommend anyone to use them.

Buyee Buyer Beware!
I previously used Buyee a number of times without issue. Customer service stunk but the service was quick and simple.
Recently I made a purchase that unfortunately appears to have been lost in the post.
What's followed is one of the worst customer experiences I've ever had with any company.
1. They made me wait 60 days to contact them regarding the item.
2. They then made me send 4 emails with details that I can't really provide. My local postal service can only advise regarding items received.
3. They then tell me I may have to wait weeks to months for an investigation with Japan Post.
4. I advised this is unacceptable and I want a solid timeframe given you can only raise such an item with a card company for x number of days.
5. They tell me to "please wait for a while". Seemingly no updates since February isn't a while enough.
6. I warned multiple times that I will contact my card company to open a dispute as I'm unsatisfied with lack of information and solid timescales being provided by Buyee.
7. Bank initiates their own investigation and temporarily cancels the charges to Buyee so I don't get charged interest.
8. Buyee Cancels my account without so much as a contact. I only find this out through a chat coversation with Buyee which a rep will not mail me a copy for records despite promising to do so on multiple occasions.
9. Buyee advise they cancelled my account due to the Chargeback.
10. I advise I will allow the charge if my goods are received.
11. Buyee Advises this is not good enough and they will cancel the Post Investigation.
Not exactly world class care or customer service from Buyee. Lack of transparency and horrific practices make me think it's a bad idea for anyone to ever use their Sea-mail post service.
I'd also pray that at no point anything goes missing on you as they're ridiculously ignorant and borderline incompetent with practices that show a lack of transparency and awareness towards customers.

Thanks to this site now you can buy items directly from Japan and i thank God for that ! It´s much much cheaper to buy directly than to get your stuff from other sites outside Japan and you can get rare stuff as well.In my experience i´ve got great customer service and really fast shipping along with fantastic communication and great packaging.Highly recommended !

Shipping cost is exorbitant cos of the way they double charge (domestic shipping from seller to Buyer warehouse), then from warehouse to your country. You also pay a Buyer Fee but the checks are minimal and I have received broken and electronic items that are not working.
Customer Service does not offer service recovery options (vouchers, attempts at getting fee waivers) at all and at times, are rude and curt.
The service does not add value to the customer experience. I would really recommend alternatives such as Zenmarket instead.

Very accurate and timely service. Web and mobile interface is not difficult to use. My sole complaint has been the use of paper envelope to ship multiple items together and it was torn in transit both times. Since I voiced a request to use study boxes only, Buyee has provided that packaging and I’m happy.

So I pay almost £300 for shipping (yes. £300. Because apparently domestic is more expensive than international, and they charge like double what the actual seller listed the item will cost them to ship throughout Japan)
I wait 17 days for my item. It isn’t being released from customs so I contact Parcelforce. Turns out, the COMPANY messed up the customs documents, they were incomplete so my entire order was returned to Japan.
I then contact them, positively raging. I get 3 responses, of a pretty much copy and paste message. Saying they will evaluate the situation. What’s to be Evaluated? You messed up! Won’t be surprised if they try and drain more money from me and try to place blame on me.
Just avoid, this company is just a complete scam.

Very responsive on follow up when assistance is required about shipping.

Do a quick comparison with other proxy agents, their fees, exchange rate especially, are very high. Purchase many items, 1 instance item was damaged, but refused to compensate despite purchasing standard plant, i.e. inspection + insurance. Siting many reason and excuses to cover up their miss-inspection. Refused to reason, and resort to all the grey clauses in the insurance policy to deny compensation.

i have bought about 15 items from buyee now and had no problems.
everything ships out quickly and came secure - and it’s not too expensive because i always use lite plan (0 yen, my items aren’t too fragile: anime merchandise and figures) and cheapest airmail shipping which has tracking too.
buyee fees might be a bit expensive ($3) but i think they do a good job for that fee nonetheless
protective packaging is not needed because they keep original packaging which is already secure!
to be honest: if there is any problems with the items it might not be buyee’s fault but the original seller’s. so keep that in mind and look at ratings and read descriptions carefully!
i would say it’s my favourite proxy and recommend it to everyone
