Please do not book with budgetplace. This company is very bad in terms of customer service, hidden costs and they have no control over the apartments they are using. On two occasions I had terrible experience and when trying to call their customer service line their staff was rude and couldn't care less about the customer.
There are number of better and more credible companies so please think twice before booking with them.

All arrangements for the holiday were very efficient and we were expecting a really good vacation. However, we were disappointed with certain aspects of the apartment.
• We had booked through budgetplaces.com. The owner said that certain specific things would be available. In fact, there was no hairdryer, no kettle, no toiletries except hand soap, no radio and no clothes rack.
• The stove top was totally inadequate, taking 20 minutes or more to bring to the boil a small pan of water.
• Consequently we had to boil water in the microwave which was situated at face level on a tall fridge/freezer. This we considered to be a serious safety hazard.
• The two bath towels provided were inadequate, one being a thin beach towel. None of the towels were changed during our two weeks stay.
• There were only two small, thin single size blankets which didn’t even cover the surface of the bed.
• The bathroom plug was broken and to empty the wash basin you had to operate a lever behind the waste pipe in a cupboard under the basin.
• There were only 3 hangers in the wardrobe
• Cutlery was very basic, kitchen tools comprising one large, blunt knife and a wooden spoon. There was no can opener, bottle opener, peeler, grater, or any of the usual items found in a self-catering apartment
• The entrance/terrace was most unwelcoming; the wall opposite the window of the apartment was unpleasant to look at, being dirty and having green slime growing on it. It could not really have been called a terrace – more a passageway which was unpleasant to sit in.
• We had no contact with the owners during our stay, apart from a 5 minute welcome on arrival. There were no contact details for emergency services or a doctor and we found this to be quite unsettling as we are both in our seventies, but consider these details would have been important not only to us but to anyone visiting a foreign country. The landlord was away on business throughout our stay.
• It would have been helpful to have been provided with information about the local area such as the position of local supermarkets, bus timetables, tourist information leaflets, etc.
I have never written a negative review before but feel that it was necessary on this occasion

Booked hotel Bai Panzio in Budapest via budgetplaces.com. for 2.5 months before the stay for 2 people for 1 week. On arrival we had been given a room 9 kv.m. in the attic with sloping roofs of over half the room, no wardrobe. We asked for another room where two people can have the place with the things for 1 week. The owner was surprised and acted hysterically with a frying pan in hand. He screamed full words about our nationality and that we must leave the hotel immediately. My argument that one night had already been paid and we have the right to stay at least one night, the owner ignored and said that it's our business with budgetplaces.com, but it has nothing to do with him.
We was ported and had to find another hotel where I was writing an email to budgetplaces.com custumers service from. I informed them even adress for this next hotel for to make it clear to check and see the situation.
We have got an apologise mail to answear and then about they contacted hotel Bai Panzio and, according to them, it was confirmed, they showed to us the room and we didn't like it, reason why we decided to leave AFTER STAYING one night there. Regretfully no refund is possible in these circumstances, specially if both you and the hotel are stating two completely opposite versions of the facts.
Budgetplaces.com has chosen to ignore the fact of our stay in another hotel that night and reduce the matter to a formal consideration of a refund.
For us it's not a matter of money, that's the matter about the treatment of a human and a customer, and that the same situation could be repeated in the future to other clients at that hotel.
I think it is totally unacceptable that a racist oriented hotel has a place at some bookingsite. It was the worst hotel experience my husband and I have had some time although we travel often and to many different countries.

I have been using this site for a number of years and through it have found good, relatively inexpensive accommodation in several expensive cities I am happy to return to. budgetplaces.com just makes good sense

Overall a good website and booking experience. Keeps your deposit money as credit to use toward other bookings if you make a non-refundable booking and change your mind. Sometimes however when you look to book a hotel, it will take you to a slightly different site which looks more like booking.com, although it is under the same website. I wouldn't be bothered, except this slightly different site doesn't take the credit like it should.
Would use again.

Used website because it advertised high cashback through TCB, but ceased affiliation very quickly afterwards so no claims could be made (by anyone, it appears).
Whist I know that cashback can never be guaranteed, and should not be booked on such an assumption, I feel that the way they *advertised *on cashback sites when they started, but removed affiliation too quickly for any claims to be made, was dishonest. It appears that no cashback was ever intended. *This review is not based on non-payment of cashback, but the way they enticed me to purchase from them*.
We got the booking, seemed no problem, but we could have made it elsewhere at the same price and definitely had a high chance of cashback since the other sites were long established as being affiliated.

Was looking to book an apartment in Chiclana de la Frontera, Spain and was very impressed with a property from budget places. Described as having a full kitchen and a seperate lounge it seemed what we were looking for, price also very good so went ahead and booked. Only after I had paid and received the booking confirmation did I spot the line 'double no have kitchen is only bedroom' mixed up among some Spanish info at the bottom of the booking form. Also this booking was non-refundable (no shock there). After contacting the Spanish call centre I was informed even though I was willing to pay extra for an actual apartment there was nothing they could do.After informing the agent that I had dietary requirements that meant I needed a kitchen she agreed to refund the booking amount AFTER I had booked the apartment, which she sent me a hyperlink to. The apartment rate was over double the rate I had paid for the ficticious apartment already. I went to the website (not via the link) and found that the apartment was available for my dates for 450 euro less than the rate she quoted me.After several emails the agent agreed to refund the original amount if I booked via the website and sent her a copy of the confirmation. This I did and the refund came through after about 8 days. The agent I spoke to was very efficient (though obviously working to strict instructions), emails were answered within 15 minutes once the initial contact was made.
I would encourage everyone thinking of booking with this firm to read everything at least twice and if unsure of the details ring their call center (the staff are very helpful)

First time I have used Budgetplaces to book hotel for visit to New York for my wife and our sons to meet the American side of our family. So was an important trip. I unfortunately booked a hotel without checking with my wife and when she looked at the booking she was unhappy as it was unsuitable for our needs. Contacted Budgetplaces. Johan was brilliant. He negotiated with the hotel on our behalf getting them to forego the full payment and made an arrangement so that if we re-booked another hotel we would n't lose our deposit. Furthermore he took the trouble to find out our needs, stopped me booking another unsuitable room arrangement (some people never learn!) and then set up another far more suitable hotel for us to book which my wife is far happier with. Johann has saved the trip really. Exceptional customer service. Thank you very much Johan!

Like some of you out there, i find this a dishonest website to make bookings.
I made a booking a few days ahead of my hotel stay. The quoted charge was displayed in SGD but when i finished entering the credit details and received the confirmation, it was converted to EUR without pre-notification!! Even though i made a non-cancellable booking, the confirmation email actually allowed a cancellation option within a short timeframe (a few hours) with full refund. I thought this is a good option for me since i notice the currency difference early, i can take some time to work out the maths again and more importantly i am within the cancellation deadline indicated in the confirmation email. Happily i clicked on it and the next minute i received a cancellation confirmation which states ZERO refund. Crazy, this is daylight robbery! I called the website to explain my case (confusion over the currency and the misleading cancellation option) and ask if they can re-instate the booking since both transactions are done just 1-2 mins apart, surely it is not that difficult to trace. The customer service gave some crap replies and once he realised it is a non-cancellable booking his attitude changed. the system suddenly hanged and he was not able to proceed with my query and ask me to make another booking which will cost me thousand over EURs again. He also suggested that i should contact hotel on my own to resolve the case, basically casting all responsibilities out of his turf.
I went to the hotel with my case and was told that they could not find this booking reference (so obviously it was not processed). I was told to contact the website again since the transaction was not through. This time the lady in customer service assured me that i will get my refund within a few days after she reviewed by booking and even sent my a written confirmation for it. The refund never came back. I called back and now she changed her stand. The first email she claimed that my cancellation was after the deadline, trying to bluff me by mixing up the time zone difference. When that failed, she then quotes in her second reply that the booking was non-cancellable so i should not be entitled to refund.
I asked her why did the website offer user a choice to cancel if you already know it is non-cancellable? And when i call back to ask for re-instatement of the booking shortly after the cancellation email, the customer service did nothing to help me with that. and worst, a customer service who commit her words and later does not honour it!
Isn't it daylight robbery!
The website provides mis-leading information to confuse consumer. And if you are unlucky and fall into their trap you are stuck with no recourse. what type of service is that?

I am travelling to Belgium and the Netherlands in December.
I booked the hotel in Belgium without any troubles.
I attempted to book the hotel in Amsterdam afterwards and i kept getting a "issue with payment error, click to confirm to get a call".
The call took way too much time so I tried again to click it again, i didn't get any as well..
I tried in total about 7 times in 18 hours, finally i got two calls that barely rang, one and i didn't get the time to answer.
Anyway, I ended up booking the same room on another website (was 6 dollars less too)

I booked a hotel in Venice for next June paid a deposit but had to cancel the hotel, so went through the process of cancelleing on there website only to be told that I would not be getting my deposit back, but they would hold the money for 6 months in an account that I can't even get into as the booking has been cancelled???? I would have never used them if I had realised that deposits are not refunded. I think it's disgusting that they can get away with this.

I did book through budgetplaces.com, and found a good deal, but it was very time consuming to wade through all the options, and they varied wildly in price, comparing specific lodging with other sites. It is a tool among many.

I was looking for an accommodation within walking distance to Victoria Coach Station using this website. I used the filter option on the map to search based on distance (I selected within 1km radius of the station). However, the listings on the left panel were NOT filtered accordingly, and it misled me into booking an accommodation which did not meet the distance requirement I wanted. I only found out that the booked accommodation was nowhere near the Coach station when I did a double check via google map. I cancelled the booking immediately (10 minutes after making the booking) but had to pay the full amount of EUR 45.94 given that this was a non-refundable offer. Emailed customer service, and they said there was no issue with their website at all. Perhaps the company should take a look at how other booking websites make the information clear and transparent to customers. Will never use this website again.

I booked my NYC marathon weekend with Budgetplace.com as the range of option was broad and met (student) budget needs.
Unfortunately, my early booking had to be cancelled (beyond Budgetplace's controls). This was brought to my attention together with alternative options. I had many questions, to which Jake replied swiftly throughout the day. It took extra time, yes, but the service and patience was outstanding. Everything sortet (except from the training I still have to put in myself obviously :)
