I had an accident in Germany which was not my fault. Buchbinder acknowledged this when returning the car as the other vehicles company involved in the accident admitted guilt and sent them a statement confirming this. Buchbinder has since taken over 800 Euros from my account and refuses to return the money. They are not capable of listening to their customers and cannot accept the possibility that they are wrong despite all the evidence giving them. I have used this company for many years on a regular basis but find their attitude and dealings extremely aggressive of late and will not use this company again. Whilst at Munich airport this August I witnessed many fellow travellers making complaints to the Buchbinder staff, some quite serious mistakes on Buchbinder's part but their reaction and consequent abilty to deal with complaints was appalling and aggressive. They have become a very bad company to deal with recently and if you require a vehicle to rent then I strongly suggest not using this poor excuse for a rental company.

Never again to be used . Renstal started bad because they gave me an ticketverkoop get out of the parking that did not work ,so back up and wakker back all the way to the renstal Office . Person behind the desk said to try again and if it still did not work press the info button. Again we could not pass and after pressing the button we stood there at least 5 minutes waiting for somebody to answer and then another 5 minutes before we could continue. Car drove ok and indicated an average use of 5,2 liter which rose due to some mountain roads to 5,6l/100kms later to lower again to 5,5ltr /100kms. I filled the car up and expected to put in approx. 7-8 liters with the total of 129kms I used. However I tanked 15,33liter! Conclusion: although the car indicated full when I got it it was not.
When I mentioned this to the staff the said I must have raced the car in order to explain the difference and I could write an email and send the tank slip I showed etc. Instead I write this review with my promise NEVER EVER to “ bother” Buchbinder/MEGADRIVE car rental with my rentals again!

We rented a car in Vienna to go around Austria and Germany to Dornbirn. The guy, Sherif was amazing and gave us an upgrade for free and he was really nice and friendly! Then we left the car in Dornbirn fast and easy. No problems at all. I would really recommend it.

Rented a car in August 2019. Upon arrival at the depot in Vienna informed I had been upgraded. Very happy until I drove it . The clutch was on its way out. They said not. Reply -have you been driving for 40 years to their rude young man who was about 25 years old. Refused the car and was given an alternative after much arguing. Driving the car back to the Hotel in Vienna , warning lights came flickering on . No handbook in the car to check what it was. Later informed all there handbooks are stolen. Some company. Took the car back which with only a few litres of fuel used and informed they wanted 15 Euros on top of the costs of refilling the car. This was only clarified after being informed we would only be charged for the cost of the fuel. Their representative said he had informed us. Well 2 of us were listening and he had not. Lots of arguments and eventually received a suitable car only because they wanted to go home. . Then they tried to forget the checking procedures. Lots of scratches on the car which we made sure were on the handover form. By this time we had lost the whole of the afternoon when we should have been traveling to our next destination. Terrible customer service . They just could not be bothered and lied even about their manager being off-site. When we went to refuel the 2nd car, my German speaking daughter stayed in reception and guess who popped out. Their representatives were rude about us ( they did not realise, and obviously were not the brightest, that my daughter speaks fluent German) . Upon our return and being informed about the manager appearing., he disappeared again when I asked to see him. Rotten Company, rotten service and very rude staff who could not care less and try to fob you off with terrible cars. Do not hire a car from Buchbinder , you will regret it. In future I will only hire from one of the better known Companies. They may cost more but at least you will receive proper customer service and they will not try and rob you.

To avoid. When arriving at the rental desk, the company did not accept our credit cards for the guarantee (Visa or Visa premier), and the only way to solve this was to sell us a very expensive insurance which has made the rental costs more than doubled. A business model which extorts money out of its customers. A shame.

I rent a car with Buchbinder in budapest Airport. During the check in, everything was alright. But during the check out, the employee found almost invisible dents on the roof and some scrachs on the cars. But we took pictures of the car, only one was missing the roof. So we managed to proof scratches were already there. He said "ok let me check on my computer" And guess what: according to him, indeed scratches were on his photos but not the dents ! Of course I had no photos about it. I asked to see the pictures, and of course, he said no. We were stuck. So just avoid this company. This is the best things to do

Do not use them at all! I rented for one week without any issues, I picked up the car in a dimly lit garage and was told everything was fine and there is no damage, however when i got back, they looked in a very well lit area. they found a two centimetre scratch which i did not notice, i was charged almost €600!! This is literally robbery. Never EVER use them!

Would give them no stars if I could!! Avoid these fraudulent car rental people at all costs. Picked up car with dent and scratch on bonnet took photos checked drawings and rental agreement all listed. Got home one week later been charged for damage repair!!! Even with agreement and photographic evidence they will not refund our money. Never in years of car hire experienced anything like it. So wrong!!!

Charged me €50 for picking up a vehicle after 11pm because might flight was late arriving. This was nearly twice the whole rental price. When I offered to pick up the car the following day to avoid the charge they refused. Simply uncompetitive and crooked practices. Suggest renting from the dozens of fairer minded alternatives.

Was told I had to pay extortionate insurance prices at Cologne Bonn airport because I didn't have a credit card. My wife had hers but we weren't allowed to use it because it wasn't in my name. The car was still dirty and had two warning lights on the dashboard. I took pictures of these and returned to the desk to tell the representative who told me that because I'd paid for the insurance it would all be covered and we'd have no problems. When we returned home I recieved an email saying that damage had been found and they may or may not need to take some or all of our deposit. A couple of days later, lo and behold money was taken from my account to pay for what ever damage had been found. I've not had any response to my complaint emails and still have no idea what the 'damage' might be. Please please please do not use this company at any cost. We'd never used a rental before but will definitely be going with more reputable dealers if we do in future.

Like all people who wrote about Buchbiner in Berlin Schnönerfeld airport it is true, this company charges you for so many extra and they are not honest about it.
I returned the car back full tank but received extra charge saying it is for fuel?!!!
I have receipt as evidence but they even charged more than they said if they were to refill the tank for me. And they made up a random charge for extra miles, as well.
Total robbery, scammers and no professionalism whatsoever.
Avoid this company and warn all your friends on facebook instagram and social media, this fraud company must be stopped!

Similar story - scammed 1000 euros for supposed scratches on the bumper bars. We took photos and video evidence before drop off and there were no scratches. No-one at the airport when we dropped the car off as we were flying out early. big mistake. Now to go through insurance and make sure they don’t take any more money from my credit card.
DO NOT USE BUCHBINDER.

I rented a car in Neunkirchen Saar from Buchbinder.
The car had scratches and damages from little stone throws in the windshield which they told me about and was documented.
I didn’t expect to get a car that was already damaged like that.
There was no reverse camera and inbuild gps as well which was inconvenient. Anyways, i needed a car and didn’t complain about it.
The removable god they gave me was totally out of date, hadn’t been updated in over a year.
When I returned the car, everything was fine, they checked it thoroughly, the employer said that everything was ok.
I got my deposit back and three days later received an email that I had damaged the car and needed to pay for it.
Ridiculous, the car had no new damages, only the old ones, stay away from them, they will try to charge you with something.
After doing a search online, I discovered that this was a common theme with Buchbinder.
Not afraid to involve my lawyer if they keep harnessing me, but you might not be as lucky and loose your deposit or wait month for it.

They wanted to give me the wrong car. But most importantly they offer a service of pre-paid tank and they claim to refund if, when retuning the car, the tank is not empty but it is not true! I complained and they told me that their policy is not to refund and that I have been told, while I specifically asked for the policy and a possible refund! This is unprofessional and just a way of earning more.

sehr schlecht nie wieder buchbinder.
Service was very baad, find any reason to make money create troubles with credit card, upgraded car is kia while other services upgrade to mercedes l, bmw etc. The insurance u need to pay separate to check24 and separate to them. My opinion is to go with good services provider rather than cheaper one.Buchbinder only there to make money and cost u double for any reason. Not highly recommended.

Terrible customer service. I was served by the very rude lady named Nana Andreeva. The people like this shouldn't work in the customer service! The credit card payments only? Are you serious? Not everyone have a credit card and not everyone is using it.

I have booked a car rental in Economy bookings´s website, on the 21st of February, for my holidays in Austria. The pick up was in Vienna center, on the 25th of February, and the drop-off in Vienna Airport on the 1st of March.
When I booked the car in this website, the car rental company was Inter Rent. When I got to their office in Vienna, for my surprise, I have checked that Buchbinder and Mega drive companies were the main rental cars companies working there. There was no Inter Rent... And I knew the bad reputation these companies had.
They gave me a Slovakian (?) car in good conditions as well as the map with the car condition. There were two spots signed there and I have checked the rest of the car and there was no more dents or scratches.
As agreed, I dropped the car in Vienna airport, checked that the car was in the same conditions as when I picked it up and left the keys on buchbinder's box.
I couldn't believe when, after 13 days (??), this company contacted me alleging that my car was damaged.
After this, I had in my email one invoice in the amout of € 878,00, for damage repair, and one day after I had that debit on my account.
I did not authorize and do not agree with the payment of € 878,00 value.
This is a fraud situation and I will take court action against this company.

Unfortunately I am also one of the many who were deceived by Buchbinder. I returned a car in Budapest airport and after couple of days I received a payment demand of 684 euro because a piece of rubber that can be attached with clips within 2 min. it's unbelievable! they also stole my deposit and refuse to return it.
I read the other reviews here and I realized this company is completely a fraud and scamming people is their method. Of course I'm not going to give up in any way.
Join me for a class action lawsuit against them ! then I'm going to publish all the cases in TV stations of all their subsidiaries and social media to reveal and expose the extent of the fraud, which means thousands of deceived customers.
They continue to aggressively rob new customers every day and something must be done in order to stop this madness.

Buchbinder or Globalrent would be my preferred car rental if they would improve on that point:
- When you pick up a car a FRA, you will find your car in the darkest spot of the parking, but return is done at a brightly lighted spot and checking is done very rigorously.
- At pick up I usually drive the car in the return area to check carefully. I find non documented scratches every single time ! Their favorite is the missing antenna and the windscreen stone fall.
- At the return some of them are very meticulous. They spend minutes to check the windscreen for stone fall. You NO chance to see any of this in the dark pick up area.
- Today's experience: At pick up I found two damages that were not reported, they were added by Buchbinder folks manually. I did not tell the return guy about those initially, and he found them all! I am sure I would have had to pay if I didn't do my own checking at pickup.
Advise: Use Buchbinder carefully.

Buchbinder (aka InterRent or Global Rent-A-Car) forced us to buy an extra insurance (reducing the excess to zero) during pickup as they couldn't block the required deposit on our debit card (which other rental companies do!), on return the guy asked to see the contract, said 'good, you have the additional insurance, well done', then went around the car and identified a tiny scratch at the rear bumper and marked it in his report. Today we got the final invoice showing a 47Euro 'handling fee' for the scratch which should have been covered 100% by the additional insurance.
To me, it seems to be part of the business model to first undercut the competition and to then rip off the customer after the sale.
I tried to review them on rentalcars.com (where we booked) - the wouldn't accept my review. Buchbinders reviews (7.8!) on rentalcars.com are obviously doctored!!!
ATTENTION: Buchbinder also operates as Global Rent-a-Car and InterRent! Different logo, same company!

It went okay until we got to the car, we went offered a look around, I had to ask the gentleman, who was very helpful(that’s why I added an extra star) to identify any scratches etc. Car was fine but upon returning we had a thorough inspection, Nevertheless, it was signed off with ‘no new damage’. I got my deposit back -50 euro. The tank was 6/8ths full. Surely 1/4 tank doesn’t cost 50 euro?

They deducted additional charges for exceeding the daily mileage allowance, without providing an invoice which can be challenged, I only became aware of the additional charge when I went online to check my credit card for something else, BUT the worse thing is that they charged me for exceeding the daily allowance when I had not even reached it, they are either incompetent or thieves. Fortunately I always take photos of the cars and speedometers before and after I collect any car. I used RentalCars.Com who are part of Booking.Com, both are useless and are about to get a Small Claim action against them.
They also claimed that a Dacia was an uograde on the Ford Focus, which they had allocated to me until I told them that I had my own CDW insurance.
