I went here for my sisters birthday, we went to the Island game. It wasn't that clean and looked a little on the older side but we had a blast! It was also on the pricey side so keep that in mind.
If your an escape room newbie I would suggest starting out with a group of people. My sister and I were first timers and it was just us so we needed A LOT of clues/hints and we barely got out within the selected time frame.
It would have been a lot more fun had we went with a group of people so I would definitely suggest bringing a group with you.
The staff was super nice and I would definitely consider going back!

I had so much fun here when we went on a field trip. Me and my group did the game "Do Not Disturb"! Our game master was Jamie. She was so nice and we all loved her. I think Jamie deserves a raise. Because of her we had loads of fun! GIVE JAIME A RAISE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My family was visiting from out of state so we decided to do something different and wanted to try out an escape room. Booking at Breakout Games was easy! I went online and read up on the different rooms they offered. We decided to do the Kidnapping. We booked an 11:00 am on a Saturday to try to beat the crowd. We arrived and were the only ones there, for that time. Upon arriving there were plenty of places to park, (they have a full parking lot) which was nice! We walked in and were greeted with a smile and friendly hellos from the staff at the desk. We were told that our Game Master, Michael would be out shortly and were asked if we needed to use the restrooms. Which was key, since I wasn't sure how scary this room would be. LOL Michael greeted us with a friendly hello and escorted us to the Kidnapping room (which was in another building) Michael went over the rules and different things we needed to know before we went in. Michael was cool! He was easy to talk with, joke with and I could tell this was going to be fun! Since our room was the "Kidnapping" Michael gave us blindfolds and lead each of us individually into the room and handcuffed us to the bed. He was gentle and reminded us that if we wanted to break free from the cuffs we could at any time. He walked out of the room and the game begun. Since there was only 4 of us, we had some trouble figuring things out but Michael was there with a clue to help! He even gave us a few freebies! He gave clues that were funny, helpful and was always there to help when we needed it. I won't go into the game to not ruin any surprises for those who are reading. But we had a great time at Breakout games and will def be back!! Oh and we escaped with 1.30 mins left to spare!!!

Ben was an awesome game master!!! He made the experience enjoyable and I really felt like we were locked in a room. The entire thing was well put together and I even wanted to buy one do the props for my house because I loved it so much. We did the Haunted Mansion! Would love to try out more rooms!

I can write a book on how much fun I had here. I came with my mom brother and sister for what was supposed to be one game. We had such a blast we ended up doing two that night. This was our first ever escape room and it did not let us down at all. Our game masters were definitely passionate about their job and was so enthusiastic and entertaining they definitely made the experience a blast.
The next day my brother and sister and I couldn't stop talking about how much fun we had and wondered if we could do a better breakout time so we ended up driving back up to do another one. This time beating all the other rooms time with the use of less clues.
My brother sister and I are all completely different people but doing this game with them showed me how amazing they are are communicating and team work. It's definitely something we will be doing again and coming back.

We had an amazing time with the Mystery Mansion room. Our game master Carlos was great. I particularly loved his introduction with the lantern! It's a great bonding activity for family, friends and coworkers. I'm looking forward to trying a different room.

This is my second time coming here! We completed the museum heist the last time , and today, we completed the operation casino.
We booked our room online, they sell out so if you have your eye on a particular room, you should try to book it a day or two in advance. They are all of differing difficulties, and their most difficult room is Runaway Train.
The facility is clean and large, the staff is very friendly! I do think the first time is always a little confusing, but once you are used to the way escape rooms work, it becomes a lot more enjoyable. That said, both my experiences were very different- each room has been so much fun and it gives you a great feeling of satisfaction to break out with seconds to spare!
One thing we were concerned about was whether we needed to know about the rules of different casino games to be able to play. However, as the staff members explained to us, everything you need to know is written on the placards in the room. Also, you can call to the "Game-master" at any point for clues.
Overall, these escape rooms are very very well thought out, and a great group activity! I really enjoy coming here. I do believe it's more than worth the ~$30 price tag. The price is a little cheaper if you book a group in online. I will definitely come back to try all of 7 of their rooms!

This was so much fun! My boyfriend and I had a blast in the Kidnapping scenario, we made it out with 2 minutes to spare. It was really well designed and incredibly challenging. We can't wait to try another room!

We went as a multigenerational group of 8. Grandparents down to grand kids to celebrate New Year's Eve. Everyone was able to participate at different times during the game. Our game master was helpful and friendly. We will be back. This was a ton of fun for everybody.

This was my first time here and I absolutely enjoyed it!!! I wasn't too sure at first because it was just me and my friend for the Island Escape, but We had an awesome time. Unfortunately we didn't breakout, but I definitely had an adrenaline rush when we got down to the last 5 minutes. Phillip, the staff member who explained everything to us was awesome too!! He was very knowledgeable and funny! You can tell he really loves his job.
This place is great for a date night, family outing, or just going with a group of friends. I plan on going back to enjoy the other escape rooms and actually try to "breakout" this time!

I. Absolutely. Loved. This. Place.
I could really end my review with the five words above, but I'll give you a little bit more to go on. My husband and I tried this place on yesterday for the first time with a group of friends. I honestly did not know what to expect so I was a little anxious. Thoughts of severe claustrophobia ran through my mind, but I told myself to relax.
After our group arrived, the employee working the computer made sure we had all signed our waivers. We were then escorted back with our game guide. (I believe her name is Anna.) Anna gave us an overview of how things work.
I don't want to say too much, but the hour you get to "escape" flies by. It really took us putting on our think caps to figure out all the puzzles in our room. I was nervous that we wouldn't break out, but we did with literally a couple minutes to spare.
This experience would be great for a work team as a team building or team bonding exercise. This experience is also great to do with friends and family. I plan to go back and at least try a few more of the other scenarios. Now, that I have an idea of how things work, I'm excited to break out again in the near future!

Our group did the Runaway Train escape room and it was by far the most exciting escape experience I have ever had. The room had a lot of super unique puzzles and challenges that I haven't seen before in any other room. Our game master Christian was extremely helpful and made the game go very smoothly the whole time! I would one hundred and ten percent recommend checking this out.

What a fun place in Birmingham. I had a great first experience here with co-workers as a team building activity one afternoon. The staff is super friendly and accommodating, and also very helpful.
Our group of 12 split in two groups, one doing the Mystery Mansion and the other called Do Not Disturb, which I was a part of. We had so much fun with this in a "hotel room" theme trying to track down a kidnapper who had us trapped in the room.
Trying to find clues and get out of there in one hour is a challenge but we had a blast. We didn't quite breakout, but were very close! The staff even helped along the way. They gave us 3 free clues we could ask for at any time if we were stumped. After we finished, we even went next door to get pictures taken, which is always fun.
All in all, a super cool venue in Birmingham. I highly recommend coming here and hope to be back soon bringing some friends! A big thanks to Jeremy for arranging and helping make it a fun day.

Me and my wife love Escape Rooms and today we had an opportunity to play both the "Do Not Disturb" room and the "Kidnapped" Room and both were a ton of fun! James was an excellent game master for both rooms. Unfortunately we do not live in Birmingham, but I highly recommend this place to anyone who enjoys Escape Rooms. We will definitely be coming back when we stay in Birmingham again and will bring more people with us! Thank you so much for the wonderful experience!

It is difficult to review an establishment when it is the only of it's kind in an area. When you are the only fish in the tank, you are, ipso facto, the best fish in the tank, no matter how pitiful a fish you may be.
This is the case with Breakout Birmingham.
There are only a few options when it comes to Escape Rooms in the Birmingham area, and while Breakout IS the best in town, it is still not very good.
Because Breakout is a franchise, a lot of the puzzles are "out of the box" puzzles you'll find at every Breakout location. This is definitely a one-time-that's-it situation. Once you've played a room in one Breakout location, you can't play it anywhere else every again.
I've now tried the Museum Heist and the Casino Royale rooms. Both provided a challenge. Both had puzzles that I enjoyed. Neither were exciting! Neither gave me the rush that other rooms have in other cities.
While I've seen a few well-done Breakout franchise locations, this one simply isn't cutting it with theming. Imagine, if you will, a (somewhat adult) themed child's birthday party... in an office building. That's what it felt like. The games were arranged appropriately, but there was not effort to make the casino room LOOK like a casino. Same went for the museum heist room.
The folks here are nice as can be- they've got that going for them!
Final thoughts: If you live in the Birmingham area, like puzzles, have some extra $$, and want a fun way to spend an hour, definitely give Breakout a try. If you are an escape room enthusiast and want a real experience, I'd advise you to take a day trip to Atlanta or Nashville and visit the incredible experiences the bigger cities have to offer.

This place is cool. Definitely fun times. We did the mystery mansion room and I had a blast. It was very good mental exercise, challenging. You definitely have to pay attention to detail here, but I feel like after doing one room I might be more prepared for the others just because I know more or less what to expect in terms of games, puzzles and clues. They don't let you take pictures inside because, really, who wants to the party pooper that ruins the surprises and spoils a room? Worth checking out with a good group of friends. It'll only take an hour but is so much better than like a movie or something just because of the interactive nature

Broke out of the 'Hostage' puzzle room, with just about 9 minutes to spare. Great time, with great friends and great game master Daniel. Would definitely recommend if you have an hour and want to have your mind pushed.

My group of high school students had an awesome time last night. It was challenging and big enough for everyone to help out. It's a worthwhile adventure for an evening and one that you will remember. We did museum heist and had a blast. Everyone wants to go back and use it as a team building exercise.

What a great experience! Came with friends during Halloween when they had special 30 minute puzzles at a special rate. We did the school house and had a blast. Several puzzles had to be solved in order to crack the code and get out in the time provided. Our attendant did a great job explaining the rules before leading us one at a time into the room blind folded. During the game you have three questions at your disposal....so use them wisely. We opted for about every 8 minutes asking a questions so we didn't get overly rushed at the end. We had to work as a team in order to complete all the puzzles. The thirty minutes went by very quickly, but in the end we were victorious!!!!!!!! We love to go back and try some of the hour long puzzles. Great fun was had by all. Also, I loved that they didn't require a full room. Three of us in total went and we were able to do this with out adding additional people. Great Fun!! If you are looking for a unique experience and enjoy puzzles don't wait to try Breakout Birmingham. Great staff....convenient location....go today!

This was sooo much fun! We actually made it out! We did the kidnapping...
We had 7 people in our group ranging from 14-27. This was fun for everyone it really makes you think and it's nice that you can get 3 or 4 hints. It feels impossible without the clues.
The people are friendly and it's a great bonding activity. Check it out! We will go back to try another room!

What a super fun time! Came here with a group of 4 and we were lucky enough to have the room to ourselves. We picked the "The Hostage" game. The location was almost missed but in a great spot nonetheless. We arrived and didn't wait long before our room was ready. We got to our room where she gave us all of the safety guidelines which were pretty simple. We were blind folded and handcuffed and walked in one by one. Once that happen that's when the fun began. Our game master was helpful with the clues and even gave us extra time when one of our clues malfunctioned. We almost made it but mixed of some of the clues, We didn't break out but I can't wait to go back and try another escape game. This is probably one of the best things to do in Birmingham.

We did both escape rooms in Birmingham on our recent trip. The kidnapping room at breakout was awesome. The concept was great and the puzzle was difficult but escapable. The rooms are a little small as compared to our other experiences in other cities, but it was well organized, well run and the game master did a good job at giving appropriate clues that actually helped if you needed it. This escape room was the better of the two in Birmingham. Great time.
