Unbelievably bad service. We booked a hotel in mid-February and want to change the date by 1 day due to a change in plans. My wife called the hotel directly who immediately agreed to the change in date but said that Booking.com need to make the change on their system. I called Booking.com customer service who completely refused to change the date, provide a refund, speak to the hotel themselves, or allow me to speak with a manager. Avoid this terrible company and book direct with the hotel.

Refusing to acknowledge my emails, despite sending them with outlook's recorded add-ons. Does not want to refund me for a stay that was a nightmare. Hostel River in Pilzen - keep your distance! The same with Booking.com - 'responding not com'

Booking.com advertise a Price Match. Rubbish...the staff go out of their way to make sure you cannot claim. They do not answer phones and take over 24hrs to reply with fake rebuttals to ensure you are out of their 3 day claim window. Customer Service is the worst I have ever come across.

I have used booking.com for arround 12 years.
I have to say, all has been pretty good all the time.
After checking the total amount of bookings I have done, I could see they are more than 100. I have used it not only for my personal holidays, but also for business.
Everything in all this time has been good.. good prices, i love to review the comments of the rest of the customers, and so far so good.
2 days ago, I booked a hotel in barcelona. I did it in such as a way, that this is not a pre payment, but the hotel took my money. Until here, fair enought, we all can make a mistake. But, when asking for responsabilities to the hotel, they didn't respond... I have waited two days, and nothing , no response. Then, I have asked booking.com, and they told me to ring the hotel... Great, but they are not answering!!!
I can see that booking.com do not care about the customer. They are the intermediary, but only for the money, not for the problems that could happen.
I am really sorry, because after more than 100 bookings, this is the first time I have this problem and after the response from booking.com of 'ok, sorry customer, that's not my problem, speak with the hotel', I think I will never again use their servces and use the competitors... it is what it is... they have an amazing platform, but they don't care about customers, so, great, I will not use their service.

Booking.com manipulates reviews and ratings of properties on their website in order to sell more properties:
I have been looking into this since I wrote a review on a hotel in Amsterdam. Whilst generally positive, my review mentioned one negative aspect of the hotel. I was surprised a few days later to see that my review had been 'featured' on the main page of the hotel concerned, on the Booking.com website, but my one negative comment had been edited out of the review. This particular hotel is one of the properties on Booking.com which pays extra for its listing to feature more heavily, although, I don't believe that that necessarily had anything to do with the editing of my review.
In general terms, I am convinced that Booking.com are manipulating all reviews and ratings to be higher than they should be, as it helps them to sell more on their website.
For example, Booking.com advertise scores out of 10 for each property. Yet when rating a property that you have stayed at, you are given categories with only 4 'facial expressions' to choose from (rather than 10). Even if you choose the unhappiest available 'face' in any category, the hotel score goes to 2.5, instead of 0 as one could reasonably expect it to be. Therefore, every property is automatically given a + rating of 2.5 (to be added to the final rating), even if the client tried to give a zero score.
It's an obvious but clever marketing scam: If most of the properties on their website score as they would do with an un-rigged system, really poor properties might score as low as 0 and average properties might regularly score in the mid-range, for example around 5, with only really exceptional properties scoring the 9+ rating that Booking.com give to a disproportionate number of properties on their website.
Lower, truthful scores would mean less bookings for Booking.com so it is completely in their own self-interests to inflate these 'ratings'. Property owners are obviously also happy with their 'higher than the truth' ratings.
The result though is that this is completely misleading for anyone trying to make a decision on which property to book. There are two issues here, both downright dishonest: 1. Negative reviews are being edited to make a genuine review more appealing to potential guests and 2. it would appear that all properties on Booking.com have too high a score for their truthful property quality and level of service. This would also adversely affect those properties which are actually 'exceptional' and there are some, of course.
Don't believe the hype.

I booked early check in. Got confirmation. When i arrive after 30 hours of flights, my room was not ready. Had to wait more than 3 hours The booking site refuse to post my review on the hotel on theyre website. The Hotel has 5 stars reviews only...now i know why!

What a nightmare, waiting for taxi to take me back to Lisbon airport, told it was there , obviously not as I was . Staff unhelpful, no refund lucky to have got flight after getting another taxi firm.Distressing to say the least, only been provided with a number re my complaint. Do not use this service

Worst holiday ever
I have made a reservation through the booking.com with 2 kids and only had a small room with double bed no beds for the kids
It says free parking i got charged daily
They ripped me off £1k and the worst is when i called them they were so rude

Excellent service. Makes it very easy to find suitable accommodation whenever you're away travelling. Always a good range of choice and prices, with good info and reviews on each property to help decide. Would recommend the app for an extra ease in making and managing bookings when on the go. Really bad experience arrived at the hotel and they never communicate the hotel that we we arriving, the hotel was fully booked and I had to find a place to for family to sleep at the same day, we had elder people on our group it was really stressful, the reservation was still confirmed and the website the moment we were at the hotel hall and they had no information from booking.com, the website canceled our reservation as if they were doing a favor, never going to use it again

I have faithfully used them for years but then I had a failed booking which cost me £202 and they are absolutely not prepared to take any responsibility although I booked it through them in good faith. I almost cannot avoid using them sometimes which frustrates me as they have such a strangle on the market however wherever I can I avoid using them now.

The worst customer service ever .. the property I booked through booking.com illegally took money from my card €480 stating it’s for housekeeping.. never knew before charge like this applies .. especially when left the property very clean..
No support from booking! Have been using Booking.com for so many years and when now I’m struggling to get my money back, they are not interested
