I only received 3 shipments from Blue Apron. The last 2 shipments were not the meals I picked. In the 2 meals where I got kale, 1 had a dead grasshopper in it and the other had a dead beetle. I was constantly missing ingredients like garlic, tomato and olives. The food was not that fresh. The reason I tried this meal delivery was that everything was included, food would be fresh and I wouldn't have to go to the store. Personally, for me, the food and seasonings are not that great. Add to the fact that I didn't get the meals I picked and paid for. I cancelled my account since their resolution was to offer me $30 off future deliveries. I was very dissatisfied with their meals, delivery and business tactics.

My experience using Blue Apron
Overall, using Blue Apron wasn't the best experience, but I think that has more to do with the fact that I enjoy cooking and Blue Apron's fast and easy to cook meals were a little too simple.
Food quality
The food was always fresh when it arrived and could last a few days in the fridge, or, if you need to wait longer to make certain meals, the food was fine being frozen.
Taste
Blue Apron's food never tasted bad, but it didn't taste high quality either. That's likely due to the fact that most of their food simply didn't call for enough spice. Once I added more salt or pepper or chili flake (you get the point), the food was a little better, but still fairly bland.
For the cost of Blue Apron, I don't feel that the food quality is necessarily worth it. You pay upwards of $50 for two meals a week (and that's just dinner), so you'll need to go grocery shopping anyway, and by the time you've bought everything you need, Blue Apron's price doesn't seem very budget friendly.
Recipe cards
For the most part, the recipes led you in the right direction. But, as I said above, for those who have never, or rarely made full meals, the recipe cards can be hard to follow. You're told to do multiple tasks at once—which is hard even for more experienced home cooks, and there's a lot of assumption that you know how to chop vegetables properly, know how to add the right spices, and multi-task.
In my experience with other meal delivery services (Plated, for example), the recipe cards have helpful tips that instruct you how to do every single step, no matter how small.

Very disappointed with this service. They kept changing my delivery date from Tuesday to Friday, even after I complained.

The recipes are easy to follow. The food is tasteful. Sometimes the fresh produce is damaged in the packaging. It does make dinner time easier not having to think what to cook and there is no waste with the food.. you get exactly the right amount. I have been doing the Freestyle WW meals and it is so easy to just scan the barcode to track your meal and not have to list every ingredient.

Placed an order 6 WEEKS in advance and 5 DAYS prior, they canceled due to unforeseen reasons. UNACCEPTABLE.
I called their customer service and they knew nothing.

I received a meal prep order and it was missing many ingredients which made it very difficult to follow the recipe as they use complex ingredients not widely available. I contacted them through a website form and no one replied. I then contacted them through direct email and no one responded either. It's been over ten days! So disappointed with them. Once this new wave of customers goes away they'll need their loyal customers and my family will no longer be one of them. Terrible service!

They keep sending orders not asked for until you try and contest with your credit card co. And they refuse to give you credit. Once they have your account they refuse to stop. Do not give them a card no. They also are not concerned with the environment as they use excessive plastic packaging.

5 weeks ago I tried cancelling my Blue Apron account. I was told an email with instructions on how to cancel would be sent. Today, I get an email saying my delivery is on it's way. I called customer service, my account shows that I did make the cancellation request but failed to follow the instructions to cancel. That was because I never got that email. Now, I'm stuck with two chicken order that have butternut squash and farro, two ingredients I don't care for plus I have to pay for this meal - unbelievable! Be weary when having to cancel from this company - they make it hard to so. I won't be back.

I enjoy the fact that Blue Apron sends all ingredients needed for a recipe. I also enjoy that some of the recipes teach me new things. The calories per servings are right about where we are looking.
I still think the prep times is too long for working professionals (although Blue Apron has come a HUGE way versus the time and # of pots when it first launched). One thing that drives me nuts is having to shred cheese or carrots on a box cutter - even if you have a shredder - it's either so time consuming and/or messy.
I would also recommend adding more vegetables from a health perspective. I often add additional vegetables, particularly in stir fries and pasta dishes.
Great strides in last couple years, keep going!

Don't fall for the "WW" (weight watchers) being a healthy choice for meals. I was shocked when I received my first order and looked at the nutritional page from the meals I got. Yes is has protein BUT
Beef Vegetable Stir Fry w vegetables=34g of carbs & 18 sugars per serving !
Italian Chicken & Vegetable Skillet w cheese=32g of carbs & 19 sugars per serving !
Mediterranean chickpea grain with carrots,carbs=101g of carbs per serving!!!!! & 22 sugars per serving!
I could eat 2 whole pizzas and a 2 liter of pepsi for that! What makes this WW? I called Blue Apron two different times and they were clueless and passed the buck to WW. I called WW and they were also clueless and told me to call Blue Apron. Seems they know how deceitful these recipes are and conveniently don't know anything. Event he supposed manager seemed even more clueless than the reps that answer the phones. I cancelled my subscription with them and will continue my orders with Hello Fresh. Their regular meals are way less than this company. Not "healthy" in any way and WW allows their name to be used?

I love it. It takes the thought out of dinner and makes it really easy. There are a few minor cons like it just being too hot in Arizona so food spoils fast even though they are great at the way they pack it and.... It doesn't cook itself lol.... Great food, awesome choices!!

No issue with the quality and taste of the selection. The price point is higher than I would like. It was a good deal when I received the WW discount.

It’s so fun to have someone else apply their creative spin to our weekly dinner menu. All the recipes use seasonal, fresh ingredients. With Blue Apron, we have tried lots of new food choices and types that
we would not have generally veered to. Overall, it’s been great!

Imagine waiting for the food you are planning to prepare and serve and it just never arrives...so very disappointing. After trying for the past few weeks trying to find out why this is happening, speaking to their new delivery service, Lazership, still no food!

I tried blue apron because I joined weight watchers. This program is awful. Every package that I’ve actually received are damaged or expired food. Other times I don’t even receive my box. I did not receive my last box and will be canceling my blue apron membership.

well - the food is good. But the app is hard to use and the packaging is disturbing. I'm wondering if there are healthier options without as many different packaging bags...

We have really enjoyed Blue Apron.. I am not a cook, but they have made cooking dinner so easy, and fun..my husband and I enjoy cooking it together.. we have learned to cook things we have never heard of before. We have enjoyed the dinners and know they are very fresh and healthy..what a great idea.
