We recently move from SAN JOSE to Salt lake city, UT. Our experience started with Josh, he explained us the contract from the beginning until the end. It continued with Carlos and David, carlos was the one who showed up and David was my guy in customer relations, he was helping me to get a delivery status and was extremely patient with me! These 2 men worked so hard and with care of our belongings. They are an asset to the company! Thank you

Waited until delivery to write about these folks. Ive notices many reviews are after pickup - before delivery. i think its more meaningful if the review is based on the entire service. Anyhow Ive chosen BB to be my mover from Long beach to NYC, price was a little bit on the high end but then again they've delivered the product. cant say anything bad about pickup, delivery took slightly more then what I anticipated ( they gave me a 7-14 window)- after almost 18 days. but my belongings arrived pretty much in the same condition ( maybe bc they packed everything in LB ). cost - $3900 after final estimate. not cheap but worth it.

They called me several months before my move and kept being very persistent. I provided a list of furniture and ended up booking with josh. He explained how everything works and I have to say I did have my own concerns, especially because is was my first move. On move day barak and team arrived, and we were spot on with the price. They finished to load after about 2 hours, definitely recommend.

I've done several long-distance moves over the past ten years due to work commitments; my experience with Black Bear Moving and Storage in August was BY FAR THE WORST!
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! They are complete scam artists, and their business practices are highly fraudulent and nothing short of illegal. I've reported them to the Better Business Bureau, California's Consumer Affairs Division, and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.
I made a cross-country move in August, and hired BB, as they proclaimed to be a family-owned company with local ties. I also hired them to pack up my belongings. This was another huge mistake.
Three men showed up the day of my move, and had no clue that they were tasked with packing up my belongings. Ninety minutes passed from the time they arrived in their truck to the time they actually stepped foot in my apartment. I have no idea what they were doing in that time.
The crew leader attempted to run up my costs at every opportunity. As an example, I warned BB in advance that it would be a long carry move; we calculated the exact distance from where the truck would park to my apartment with Google maps, and the extra charge was added to my quote.
The crew leader stated there'd be an extra long carry charge in addition to what I was quoted. He also stated there'd be a surcharge for my high rise building having an elevator. He attempted to charge me to protect TVs and furniture that were already part of the inventory list. All bogus.
When I finally asked why he seemed oblivious to BB's policies, he informed me he just served 3 years in prison for assault. Multiple times throughout the day he referenced not knowing what he was doing because of his recent stint in prison.
I attempted to call BB to resolve the endless discrepancies between what I was quoted and what the crew leader was asserting. It took an hour to reach a manager who confirmed with the crew leader that everything I said was accurate and the extra charges were already in the quote (and were clearly spelled out in my contract).
The pack job was one of the most ridiculous things I've ever seen. All items were thrown unprotected into massive wardrobe boxes - kitchenware with clothing, toys packed with glassware. Unfortunately, I didn't realize until unpacking that most of my boxes were half full, which was a great tactic to exceed the cubic footage of my estimated load.
At the end of the day, their crew leader unsurprisingly said I exceeded my estimate by 400 cubic feet (which easily could have been avoided had they used normal sized boxes and filled them to their capacity). This upped my quote by $1500.
The crew leader saw I had several bottles of wine that weren't allowed to be packed. He took them at the end of the day without asking. Overall, he made me so uncomfortable that I wanted to get all my things off their truck and move the 3,000 miles myself in a U-haul.
Fast forward to when my things left CA... I called customer service to get an estimate as to when my things might arrive. David, the only person who seemingly works in customer service, was useless. Every time I called, he told me he was unable to reach the driver, Victor, but would call me later in the day when he heard back. Not once did I receive a return phone call.
After a week of this happening, David began putting me on hold. He'd return and claim he spoke with Victor, who was 1-2 days away. Eight days passed of daily assertions by David that the truck was 1-2 days away. I soon realized that Victor didn't exist, and David never actually made any efforts to contact the driver.
After 8 days of the truck being "1-2 days away," I finally called the sales line again and requested to speak with a manager (David told me there was no one above him). Finally, a woman named Sam stated the driver was 5 days away. She claimed he'd been rerouted, hence the significant delays in delivering my things. Again, the 1-2 days David consistently promised was completely made up.
The day after I spoke with Sam, she texted me at 4pm to say the truck would actually be showing up at 5pm that same day (no 24 hour notice as promised). Somehow the truck went from being days out to being at my doorstep. The movers showed up at 8:30pm.
The 2 men who brought my things were great. They didn't work for BB (my things had been loaded onto another moving company's truck despite Black Bear claiming they did the drive themselves). They commented repeatedly when they saw how my things were packed as to what a joke the company is. They also couldn't make any sense of the inventory list, as none of the stickers the original crew leader used to tag my items actually matched up with what was on the contract.
Black Bear Moving and Storage is the worst company I have ever dealt with; they are straight up frauds, and turned what was an exciting cross-country move for me into a miserable experience. Avoid at all costs! I'd give a zero if I could.

If I could give a 6 star rating I would! I loved this company. Everybody was so helpful. From the first call with Michael up until we got delivered. Everything was explained to us over the phone and even though we had a little more space on the day of the move, the movers managed to fit everything in the truck and take all of our items and deliver within the time frame they promised. Would definitely use again!

DO NOT USE THESE MOVERS! BEWARE! PLEASE READ BEFORE HAVING THEM MOVE YOUR STUFF! NIGHTMARE MOVERS!!!
Upon doing my research on multiple moving company’s, and before signing any contracts with Black Bear Moving and Storage INC, they PROMISED a seamless and stress free move. THAT WAS A LIE! Working with Black Bear Moving company has been one of the WORST experiences in my entire life. For starters at pick up of my belongings the drivers were 5 HOURS LATE! I was given a window between 12-4pm and Driver did not show up until around 9pm. Given the runaround that the truck was only 30 mins away every time I called for an update. Costumer service is also AWFUL, one gentlemen in particular Name Robert was extremely RUDE and DISRESPECTFUL. Being yelled at by a customer service representative is UNACCEPTABLE from my perspective. Upon delivery of my items the driver did NOT notify me that he was driving an 18 wheeler, there for no access was available. The Driver who was very unwilling to help and seemed to be in a rush to ditch my belongings gave me two options to unload my stuff to another truck, where he would just transfer over to another truck and leave WITHOUT DROPPING OFF MY ITEMS TO MY DOOR AND ASSEMBLING MY ITEMS AS PROMISED IN THE POLICY. Or The second option was that he was going to take my items to a storage facility in which I would be responsible to get my items to my house myself. I would also have to pay an ADDITIONAL 300 dollar fee. I decided on option one the driver loaded a UHAUL TRUCK THAT I RENTED AND LEFT. Leaving me to unload the truck MYSELF AND ASSEMBLE MY FURNITURE. ALL BOXES WERE ALL SMASHED AND TORN ON THE EDGES. Mind you that none of this INFORMATION IS DISCLOSED TO THE CUSTOMER NOR WRITTEN ON THE POLICY! OVERALL HORRIBLE COSTUMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE AND NIGHTMARE MOVE. BEWARE! This company is full of LIES. They will not take care of you’re belongings! They only care about your Money!

Do not make the mistake of using this moving company.
Our stuff was picked up on August 13. We were initially told their target for getting our belongings to our new place was August 20 -- or August 27 at the latest. (This was a cross-country move.) However, our belongings did not come back to us until September 12. So 1-2 weeks became 30 days.
We were initially quoted an amount around $3000. A couple days before the move, the amount was revised to $5000. After our belongings were in the truck, the amount went up to $6700.
Communication was really bad along the way. I had to proactively call for updates, and the staff I spoke with seemed exasperated and annoyed. Some were rude and argumentative. They would often promise to call back later that day with an update, but it rarely actually happened.
That said, the actual moving crews worked hard. And some (maybe half) of the staff I talked with were actually kind and helpful. But none of that changes the fact that something is deeply wrong with the way this company does business. We would have organized our move very differently if we had known the true cost and timeline. And it would have been easier to stomach the delays and price increases if the people at Black Bear had been communicative and empathetic.
In short: nobody should ever use Black Bear. They will make your life miserable and, based on my own experience and the other reviews here, there's a good chance you'll pay more than twice what you're expecting.

Just moved with black bear, overall the move went ok, price didnt change, the guys in San diego were very professional, they literally packed my entire garage in 4 hours. Thought my tools are going to take some time since I work with wood, my work bench and the tool box were perfectly packed. garden statues were crated beautifully and they even helped me remove my swing. Wife was very pleased 'bout that! Definitely recommend.

I moved a few times in my life and this was definitely the easiest move I ever had. They arrived on delivery and unpacked the truck. Everything happened exactly as promised. Thank you!!!

Horrible experience. The sales person Leo was sly enough to quote a really low price for the items we wanted to move and got us to pay them some amount in advance. During the moving day, the vehicle drivers started fussing about the items and increased the price from $1500 to $2200 without even entering the house and seeing how much space the items occupied. On calling Leo, he was pretty unpleasant to talk to, did not even try to hear what I was saying and kept on saying that this is what you get. It’s unfair for companies like this one to harass customers on the day the move was planned knowing that customers will be helpless. This company is the worst I have experienced so far with rude people who will harass you till you have no options left and end up paying them 50% more than the quote when you signed the contract.

Was a great experience knowing i was under pressure to move quickly. My company had to finish packing and they did such a great job wrapping and securing our items. I am glad that even on such short notice they were able to fit me. It seemed expensive but considering the timeline i provided, the packing the was needed, and ultimately the distance i was traveling, it was so worth it.

I decided to move from San Diego, CA to Houston, Tx back in April of this year. I started doing my research looking for a moving company to hire to move my personal property. I received about 15 quotes and made my choice paid my deposit and booked my move with Cross Country Moving out of Florida. Due to all the horror stories I had read online I made sure I looked at all their reviews and licenses, insurance, safety records on the company. I had a very long question and answer phone call with Neil Snoep he was very clear in saying that Cross Country Moving would be doing my move and that they do not outsource the contracted moves with anyone.
Moving day May 30th the moving truck shows up about 10 am 3 guys named Kelly, Daniel & Carlos come to my door from Black Bear Moving & Storage. I am very confused as to why this is not Cross Country Moving as promised by Neil. Kelly comes into my apartment asks what I am loading on the truck and then tells me my quote is way more than 500 cf as quoted, I told him there is no way it's double the quote of cf. I sold a lot if the items I originally had on the quote it should have been less not double. He told me the boxes alone where more than 500 cf, I told him the hell they are, so I did a box count multiplied by cubic feet clearly listed on each box it came to 148. Kelly then started taking photos then called his office to tell them that there is so much more there then what was quoted. I had no choice but to pay up I had to be out of the apartment the next day. At the time of the move I had all the furniture I was taking measurements in my computer, so I was unable to figure out the cubic feet for what little I had to move. I was quoted an amount of 508 CF totaling $2,596.27 on the day of move I was told my new quote is now $4,486.27, I was in tears because moving is very stressful and expensive and these jerks come in up charged the move witch costs a ton more money.
I would give a NEGATIVE star rating if it would allow you to. I arrived in Houston on Sunday June 2nd. I received a phone call from the office asking what my first delivery date was? I said 6/3/2019. I have had to call these jerks every week since I left San Diego. I have spoken to David in dispatch who always tells me let me get the ETA and I will call you back, FIY he never does! I call back a few hours later only to be told the office closed please call back tomorrow. I called and spoke to Sam on 6/9 I was told the truck is in route call me back tomorrow for the ETA. I called on 6/10 @11:41 am spoke to David I am told my stuff is in storage. Of course, I get mad because you lied to me. So, I asked how can you take someone property if you can't deliver? I was told they have no truck going to Texas and they do not know when they will have one. So, I contacted Cross Country Moving to get help. I filled out a complaint with Liz Adams on 6/11 who sent me an email assuring me my property will be in route on 6/12 and will be delivered in 5 to 7 business days. Well today is the day. So, 6/20 at 10:00 am today I call Black Bear Moving and speak to David again who tells me I will call you back with ETA he does not call back AGAIN! I call back at 12:14 pm to hear that my stuff is still in storage and has not moved. I call and speak to Mark at Cross Country Moving who puts me in contact with Nancy who tells me she just got off the phone with David who tells her the truck is broke down and my property will go out tomorrow and will be here in 2 to 4 business days. Lies after lies these people will tell you anything to get you off the phone with them and out of there hair.
Yesterday I was able to locate the exact pieces of furniture I had moved, and I was able to get all measurements of each item. I now know that all my property loaded on that truck that day came to a grand total of 535 cubic feet, not over 1000 cubic feet which I was told it was.
I called and spoke to the office of MoveRescue, I was advised to file a complaint to the BBB and also file a complaint with the FMCSA. I was advised of information they do not disclose to you when booking your move, they are legally obligated to deliver within 21 business days from your first available delivery date. Here is another helpful item I learned the quote can only by charged up to 10% above the original quote not 50%. Had I known this up front I would have never used a moving company and rented a truck and done it myself.
I have filed complaints everywhere and contacted an attorney so I can try to stop these shady moving companies just like this one!
AS of today June 20th, I still have not one piece of my personal property. So, I have paid $3,017.16 for this company to steal everything I own.
Whatever you do make sure you get all the measurements of everything be sure to have the total cubic feet of your property calculated prior to pickup.
DO NOT USE THIS LIEING, CHEATING, STEALING COMPANY, this is truly the worst moving company in the US!

I hired Black Bear to bring my mom and dad from California to Florida. I couldn’t be there for pickup, so I had to find a decent moving company to take care of them. They are 70 years old so, I didn’t want them to be stressed about anything related to the move. Black Bear did an amazing job. They gave us a quote based on the list of items I had from my mom. I knew it was an estimate as they explained me that the price is based on space on the truck and that only is confirmed when the items are loaded. My mom had a few more boxes but the price was close to the estimated one. They did all the work, as they told me. My mom and dad just were there to guide the crew. The truck came in about 10 days after the pickup. I was told the estimated delivery date is between 7 to 14 so it was right in the middle. I was here with my mom and dad when the truck came to Florida. All the furniture and boxes arrived safe and they took everything out of the truck and into my parent’s new home. Words are not enough to thank Black Bear Moving. My mom and dad had nothing to worry about. Thank you!
