I've relied on Bible Gateway as an online resource for years. It's gone wrong. The amount of adverts has grown and grown. They are purely commercial. They interfere with the reading. They are immensely distracting. What a shame. The site carried a witness to the power, depth and value of scripture, and I believe the impact of this great online accessibility has been lost.

I have no problem with copy and paste of passages. Either there was a problem and it was corrected or the person who experienced the issue has a problem with their browser. Overall a good site, I don't like the ads but I have adapted to ignore them. At least the adds do not pop up in the middle of reading scripture.

Want to read the Bible?? Go to Catholic Mass (The Lamb's Supper) where Scripture is read to you everyday with purpose and truth; and you receive The Eucharist, Jesus Christ's Real Presence on earth (for which is there is NO substitute). Also, Our Blessed Mother Mary is for everyone (not just Catholics), but it is the Catholic Church that teaches and fully participates in Marian devotion (not worship that is only reserved for Jesus Christ). Mary knows and loves Jesus Christ better than any of us ever could - she teaches us how to come to, learn about, love, and follow her son...Our Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ.

Bible Gateway let's you copy a passage from the Bible, but then scrambles the text when you paste it. I feel like that is not spreading what Jesus would want because, what, they want credit? I will not use Bible Gateway.

This site has helped me and so many people in so many ways I cannot even number. There used to be a time when it was much harder to find bible verses online, and BibleGateway have stepped up to the plate and offered an invaluable service. Thank you for all your hard work, and God bless your endeavors.

Very good site for reading about the Bible, the central text for Christianity.
Occasionally, a pop-up appears, asking you to subscribe to the Bible Gateway newsletter, but it doesn't really detract from the site.

The writings in the bible would result in global annihilation...
Those keeping the evil content on there must be executed and or tortured... psychically... You may not eat a creature, not even one.
We may not eat meat.. if we eat meat, we all die... do the math.
Eat fruits vegetables and grains....
Yes scavengers exist, however, we are not scavengers, and scavengers should not be enormous.. otherwise, they would be too powerful and they would want us to die before our time.
Maggots are an ideal great scavenger... but I would not like to be a maggot.
The bible also causes premature death of children, as they want to go to heaven, and there is not a heaven.. and there is not a hell. and this is not scary.

As a firm atheist I find this site to be very valuable.
I find it especially valuable for looking up the verses in which God directly commands or commits murder, rape, torture, incest, infanticide, mayhem, genocide...
An even better compilation of these things can be found here: http://www.evilbible.com/ They are all taken DIRECTLY from the bible itself.
Few things are more likely to make a Christian spazz out than quoting their own bible- which they probably have barely even touched- back to them.
You can thumb this review down all you want. I am not changing for you.

BibleGateway is an excellent site for comparative translations of the Bible and biblical verse lookup. This website does an amazing job of providing an easy and efficient way of reading the Bible and looking up specific passages. There are also study guides and lessons, as well as a Verse of the Day, all of which may be appealing to a Christian seeking to learn the teachings of their religion.
Even as someone who is not a Christian and who disapproves of much of the Bible's teachings, I also find this website useful when looking up specific passages, comparing translations, and studying the Bible to better learn about the Christian belief system. I highly recommend this website for all your online Bible needs.
And for those of you seeking a good translation, the most accurate one is probably the New American Standard Bible (NASB), which I've found through my usage (even when I was a Christian) to be closest to the original meaning of the texts. New International Version (NIV) is good, but oversimplified and thereby loses some of its meaning. The King James Version (KJV) is horribly outdated, biased, and reflects the zealous times during which it was first written, so I strongly advise against using it for learning the Bible.
