Complete scam. The trial was somehow listed on my Daughter's list of books. We never used it and we didn't even register. I have emailed a request to cancel, so we will see. Apparently it is not easy to cancel. I will just deny the change on my credit card.

This place is a fraud. My daughter isn’t even sure how she was signed up for the service in the first place. We’ve tried to cancel several times, but the company doesn’t accept phone calls and literally ignores your emails. I think they just bank on individuals not looking at their CC statements. I finally had to work with my CC company to block the monthly $9.99 charges. Run away. Far away.
Bartleby, regarding your reply below. I contacted you on Aug. 13th and 15th! No response. Thanks for providing further evidence of how poor your customer service is and what a fraud your program is. You should be reported to the Better Business Bureau.

They charged me 10 dollars for something I never used! When I purchased a book from my college bookstore it signed me up and now I have 10 dollars wasted for nothing and have another pending 10 dollar charge for this month. This is a scam!

I would give a lower rating, but there is nothing below 1 star. No one to talk to - ever. A problem here, a problem there - I've had this service for over one month and so far have had ONE........ONE QUESTION answered. They will not refund my money - they just keep saying - oops! sorry.........thank you for your patience.....well, I have no more patience - and no more money. what a total waste.

The "essays" on Bartleby are a joke. I can't even call many of them "essays". They're written at a 9th grade level at best. Many of these papers include quotations or citations but no references or works cited at the bottom. They're all incredibly poorly written. They all contain very basic spelling, grammar, punctuation and other mistakes.
If I were a TA marking one of those papers very few of them would get even a passing grade, most of these "essays" are 'F' papers. Ignore the word count because all these essays have obviously been stretched out to increase the word count as much as possible. A lot of the writing in these essays is incomprehensible nonsense.
They are useless as study guides, reference material and don't even think about handing one in. As I said, I can't imagine any of them would get a passing grade at the college/university level. This site really is a scam. I don't know where they get these "essays", but they're a joke. This is not a legitimate site.

this site preys on students! the do not provide any helpful solutions or information. they also make it impossible to cancel subscriptions. I thought I canceled a couple of months ago yet I was still charged again just recently. And even worse there is no way to speak with an actual human being. refunds are not possible. bartleby is the absolute worst!!

This company is horrible. I tried the product for less than 15 minutes, it didn't work and I wanted my money back. They fought me tooth and nail before they finally credited me back my money. I assume that they feel 9.99 isn't worth the fight - and normally it isn't, however if they weren't so rude, I probably would have let it go and just moved on. They are playing the odds that people will not fight back for 9.99 for a product that doesn't work. I should have read the reviews first - my fault on not checking them out first.

Bartleby is awesome! I always get a quick response for my homework solutions, and I receive step-by-step feedback along with the answer.

Obnoxious to see "Get instant access - It's FREE" written in order to trick you into signing up, then the next page lists the prices and nothing else, and there is no way to see the complete essay I wanted to read without paying. I don't mind paying for services, but to trick people initially with "FREE" written in all caps is very frustrating. Zero stars.

bruh why do i have to pay 30 dollars a month for this. i have no way of earning money, and i need information from this site to do work in school. why does this site deny students in school access to learning. i would give this 0 stars if i could. im gonna fail school because the people running this site are greedy and selfish. i would rather have constant popup as on the site than this. if you ant money from people, than make a system where you have to pay to remove ads. this is dumb.

Don't get screwed by the guy at your school's bookstore. This is nearly impossible to cancel every time I thought it was cancelled I was charged again for the next month. Says a lot about a company's values if their main source of income is to prey on students.

Today I was updating my google alerts when I got one about an essay I had written in 9th grade on this site called Bartleby. I had never even heard of it before and yet I find my essay on women in Athens vs. Sparta." Literally had my name, high school, teacher's name, and course all in the header. So naturally I want to investigate and click "show more" and it wants me to sign up and enter a credit card number! To view my OWN work! And it wasn't even that good of an essay (like I said, I wrote it as a freshman in high school) so I wouldn't trust any of the content on that site. This company (owned by Barnes & Noble) is charging people money to view MY work without my knowledge or consent. Absolutely outrageous. Stay away from Bartleby.

Look for another source ... dealing with this company has been very disappointing! I thought I was signing up for the 4.99 one month trial subscription but apparently I signed up for the $59.85 subscription for three months. It was never my intention to do so because I only needed a reference for one paper. When I requested a cancellation of my subscription, they would not pro-rate it and said I was not due a refund; but, they were happy to cancel my membership after three months. How kind of them! I can see why most of the customer reviews are negative. Unfortunately, Bartleby management has not learned how positive customer service can improve their business and negative customer service can destroy it.

Absolutely not trusted!! Bad deals, offensive discipline, unhelpful customer service.
They put people in school as cashiers to convince u it is free and was very successful in the last semester then use the credit card that u used at the cashier to charge you automatically after the first month. They charge you automatically without letting you know that you will get charged based on hidden words in their terms and conditions.
