Even i DO NOT WANT TO GIVE ONE STAR! Do not try to rent car from this company!!! I have been charged from old damages, they also charge other damages to you together! Very cold! Very high assessment! They are scrabing your pocket!
I was in Hobart, only drave 38km and returned the car in few hours, parked twice in 90 degree angle, no other cars beside me. They didn't check your car before you leaving Hobart, then just charged me 3 damages, which is in front, back and right 3 positions, all were exsiting in condition report which gave to me when I got the key. So funny, 3 different places at once and mentioned in the condition report already!!! I need to find out out how to protect my rights now, please tell every one, don't try to rent, you won't be lucky!

Rented out of Melbourne Airport. Pick up was easy. They do indeed require you to photograph the car yourself, and no inspection was done when I was given the car (and so I don't know what record they had of the existing scratches on the car). The car itself was fine - was clean and worked well for us. We returned the car without hassle and were not charged anything. I'm not sure if we got lucky, but we had no problems at all with the Melbourne branch, and would probably rent from them again as they were much cheaper than the competition.

These people are crooks. They expect you to examine every panel of their vehicles and photograph any damage. If you miss any marks they make very large charges to your credit card on the vehicles return. Even the most insignificant, barely visible little marks which would be regarded as fair wear and tear in the real world result in charges of hundreds of pounds. I believe they are Scammers.

Absolutely an appalling service!
Went to onehunga as it stated on my car itinary, Get to onehunga they say oh sorry you need to go to the airport. Get to the airport its the wrong car I waited for three hours for them to say they'll change my car twice. Then said I needed to pay $260.00 even though it was there error. Then they told me to go before to onehunga they had a car ready in 5mins all of a sudden I can't change the car. They still made me pay airport fees. This service is pathetic will never be coming back to use their services.

Booked through Rentalcars.com to pick up at Coolangatta airport. Was told it was off airport and a free shuttle would be provided. Was not told that they charge AUD 33 for a “late pickup fee” as I arrived at 5pm.( late??!!) It seems they subcontract another company in the office next door to do this.
I’ve hired cars at airports all over the world and have never come across this before. Also there is no mention of this fee when you book the car.
First and last time I will use this company.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY
I rented a car from this company for a week and the car I was given was not only dirty, it was a different make, model and had automatic transmission instead of manual. I had to clean the windows inside and outside in order to have clear vision at my first stop. The staff were rude and not helpful at all upon collection and even worse when I returned it and inspite of the car being cleaner than it was on collection, they debited my credit card $225 as a cleaning charge because they claimed someone had been smoking in it which was definetly not the case. I got the impression this was standard practice. Absolute robbery!

Very negative experience. Would not recommend. Fees were taken from my credit card for disputed damage within 10 minutes of leaving their premises. They know people have flights to catch and they take advantage. Despite numerous requests, no evidence has been provided that remedial work has been completed. Management don't care, as they already have your money!

Do not go with these people. Claimed a superficial chip in the windscreen which wasn’t there before. But miraculously appeared after they took the car around the back for inspection. The company claimed that the car would be off the road until the windscreen could be replaced. The card was charged on Easter Sunday when the work could not be carried out. Let alone invoiced. Thieves!!!!

These people are rogues! The price of renting a car looks cheap but they sting you with what they call ‘damage to the vehicle’ after you have left and gone home. They even send you photos of scratches and marks if you query the bill! The problem is, they don’t inspect the car thoroughly IN YOUR PRESENCE when you bring it back and sign it off. We had a lovely couple of weeks in Australia on our way back to the UK from New Zealand, but this sort of thing leaves a nasty taste. It’s tempting to say something about their ancestors ....

My credit card authorization amount was never returned ($500) without my prior knowledge. My card was wrongly charged for $500 upon return (with all rental fee paid in full).
I have been trying to get an explanation as well as return for the past 4+ months via different channels; however, I never received any legitimate explanations.
Employees were extremely rude and racists as well. I really wonder how they survived all these years without going out of business. I sincerely hope the worst for them.

We went to our car and it wouldn't open. We rang them and they sent a staff member who was able to get into the car but it would't start as the battery was dead. With difficulty and a number of phone calls, they agreed to drive us to the airport so we would not miss our flight. A few days later back at home I noticed that they had taken $390 from my credit card. They say that the battery mechanic said that the boot door was slightly open. Despite our requests, we have not received an itemised invoice nor report from the battery mechanic. Tried dealing with them over the phone, but always talking to different people and staff very rude and aggressive. Was even hung up on. We have been ripped off! Don't touch this company if you don't want them taking your hard earned money be deception.

Bargain Car Rentals in Melbourne rely totally on the hirer to photograph all existing damage to the car on pick up. If you don't spot damage they will charge you on return of the car. The charge is based on their estimate of what the damage will cost and they would not let me use the Shuttle bus back to the airport until this was paid. Their estimate was $1500. The damage was subsequently estimated at $700. I'm still awaiting the refunded difference. I am certain that the damage concerned was present on the car at pick up but I did not notice it so no had photographic evidence. Make sure you photograph even panel of the car with a HD camera before you hire the car. Better still steer Clear entirely of BCR.

have had no worse experience with any person in my life than your representative that was at Hobart Airport at 7:16am on Monday 16th of July. Firstly we did book through a third party and the booking was not processed by Bargain Car rental. In all honestly it was not their fault and not Bargain’s, but the way this particular lady treated us was appalling, we were told by the hire car booth next door someone should usually be there at 7am, we told her this and she ranted about us telling her what to do, you can’t tell me this and that, we are severely under staffed, you’ll have to wait, she packed her stuff and stormed off. The worst thing was she called airport security on us and said we were threatening her, what absolute garbage, she couldn’t deal with her work load and called security on us!!!! It is enraging to be treated like nuisances when we only made the comment that she should’ve been here at 7am. I probably wont receive a reply but I will not allow such behaviour to go un-noticed, people have a right to know how bad of an experience Bargain Hobart Airport. I felt so enraged, it’s the first time I have had security or any public officer called upon me and my companion, people like her shouldn’t be hired in the first place? We received a refund of our deposit from the third party but we lost some much time, paid for carparks unnecessarily and delayed our busy working schedule, employees should know how to deal with people and not just storm off and call security.

My worst experience with car rentals so far...
I checked out the car, settled all my financials with Bargain and left Australia.
In a few weeks, I received an email from Bargain accompanied by SMS on the mobile phone form my bank, informing me that 2500$ has been withdrawn from my credit card by Bargain.
1) It was explained, that I received a few minor traffic infringements summing up to ~100$
2) Bargain withdrew (important, not locked money on your card, but actually transferred them from your card to Bargain account) 2500$!!!
They used my money for free more than three months, explaining that government traffic police settlement is very sluggish. But never explained why the heck they took 2500$ from me if the fines are only 00$.
I only got my money back with the help of rentalcars.com and my bank, who started a legal procedure on a ground of unfair commercial use.
So if you don't want this experience to happen with you, stay away. By the way, the overall car-renting service is not impressive

never ever book here, it is a nightmare this company. first off all the streetname you can not find in google maps. even the taxi driver was not able to drop off us there, then we called the , now we know it is a freecall number, number and the ladys working there are the most unfriendly people at all, they hanged up on me 3 times, telling me i need to come down. they could not tell me the number i have to call ,to find the place. then after i got my car the next day the battery from the remote controll was flat, 3 days later the battery from the engine was flat. 4 times at night or in the moring i called the office number from the station at the airport and they never called me back. we need to get people from the street asking them to help us. we missed twice a dinner with friends, a tour to frazer iland and so on, the service is worse so bad that you never should book a carental here, never never never, after we finally got the chance to talk to a person at the office, they send out a mechanic to change the battery, we had to drop off the car at 1930, the place is open till 20.this is what is say in the paper. but as we arrived there by 1830 it was closed. so we called again and a strange young guy came. all went well then. he made some notes about all our bad problems, the next day i recieved a email where there are telling me that they charged my credit card with 33 dollar for after hours service!!!!! unbelivale. this place need to be shut down. i am so upset, i will get a lawyer to get my money back. so please never never nevr ook a car here. it is the worse service in the world

Excellent service in Brisbane airport. I've unfortunately forgotten his name, but I'd like to give a huge thanks to the man giving us the car - he was unbelievably polite and helpful, giving us tips on what to see and even helping us with our bags. The car itself was clean and well-maintained.
Excellent value for money!

This was the worst car rental experience I have ever had. Avoid at all costs.
In summary, the office had closed early so I had to spend 30 minutes making expensive international calls from my mobile to make arrangements to pick up the car. The car I had booked was not provided and a substantially lower grade car was provided with no alternative. I was promised a refund in compensation but this has not been paid. The car was dirty and smelly.
Never use them. Not worth the small saving when compared with reputable competitors. I am filing a complaint with the Consumer Affairs Department of the Victorian Government.

The booking was made for pickup and drop off at Brisgane airport. Our experience was good once we had the right number to ring - supplied by the airport information desk. Our drop off was tiresome as the roads had changed since Google had registered the route. A call to a mobile number eventually was answered by someone in Hobart whose advice was to enter the address in Google maps! Luckily we had allowed well over the time to get there.

I booked a hire car with Bargain car rentals to collect from Brisbane Airport on 24th April 2017, 18.30hrs through Holiday Autos. They do NOT have a desk at the airport and on arrival you have to ring a telephone number for your car to be delivered by bargain car rentals. You are given a reference number to quote. After 5 attempts to contact the number, I got an answer from another car hire firm ( Andrews car rentals ) who said they were standing in for bargain car rentals. The woman asked my name which I gave. She said she had no record of my reservation. I offered to give my reservation number but she declined this as she said she was not given any such numbers by bargain car rentals. Basically I had come off a 14 hr flight and was exhausted and was due to pick up the car and drive 2 hours to where my son lives. I had already paid a damage waiver insurance policy and a deposit for the car rental. Instead my son had to come and pick me up with a 4 hour round trip. Holiday Autos investigated this debacle with bargain car rentals. Their reply was that I refused to give the details I was asked for, i.e. my name! This was an absolute untruth. I would NOT recommend this car hire company.Give them a wide berth. I was frustrated, very disappointed, and angry at the way I was treated. Use a hire company that has a desk at the airport so you can eyeball someone in the event of a problem, and someone reliable.

Rented a car for just 2 days in June 2016, were 15 minutes late for return, so we called Bargain Car Rentals an hour before to notify them. Since it's said "Any ‘out of operating hour’ charges, if applicable, are always INCLUDED in our prices" in their Terms and Conditions and we already paid for everything, they said we can just drop the car there without any problems. But then after return to New Zealand we realized that they charged additional $81, while the rental rate that we paid before was $45. Awful service, will never use again
