SICK TO DEATH OF THEM DOING EVERYTHING WRONG EVEN BASIC THINGS LIKE JUST CHANGING THE DATE OF A PAYMENT OF £781 WHEN I EMAILED THEM IN WRITING. THEY CANCELLED THE PAYMENT AND THEN SET UP THE PAYMENT FOR £923. THIS HAS BEEN GOING OUT OF MY ACCOUNT FOR THE LAST COUPLE OF MONTHS. JUST REALISED. THEY FARM EVERYTHING OUT TO INDIA TO PEOPLE THAT CAN BARELY UNDERSTAND ENGLISH LET ALONE CARRY OUT SIMPLE BANKING INSTRUCTIONS. VOTE WITH YOUR FEET AND MOVE TO ANOTHER BANK. BARCLAYS ONLY CARE ABOUT SHAREHOLDER PROFITS AND DONT CARE ABOUT SERVICE, THEY KNOW MOST PEOPLE DONT HAVE TIME TO SWITCH BANKS AND THAT BARCLAYS WILL MUCK UP THE TRANSFER TO AS THEY DO IT WRONG LIKE THEY DO EVERYTHING ELSE. THEY NEED TO BE INVESTIGATED AS THEIR SERVICE IS APALLING. YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO RELY ON YOUR BANK TO BE ABLE TO CARRY OUT SIMPLE WRITTEN INSTRUCTIONS

Barclays makes it hard to do even very simple things. If you want to carry out a simple transaction in a redesigned branch as a personal banking customer then expect to have to make an appointment. I tried to close my account in branch, was told I would need an appointment, then instead filled out the form online, still several months later the account has not been closed. I have now returned to a branch and am waiting to be helped with no clear process for completing the task.

Is barclays selling info to estate agents????
today at the counter of one of barclays branches:
Barclays employee asked me for private information which I dont think is any of their concern (whether I own the property and whether it is furnished). apparently this is information they use for security reasons next time I visit (or this is rather a blunt lie to obtain valuable info). I said I am not providing any sensitive infornation and We can agree on password or any other made up information. the lady said 'this is not how it works'. the message the bank sends to their customers is: either our way or no way! how do I know barclays is not selling these information to real estate agencies? how would I know if they used it for anything else? i think that kind of customer care deserves 0 stars!!!

I think in terms of banking reviews are unfair.
You only review basic services when you have an amazing or negative review. No middle ground.
My banking and mortgage application experience has been great.
Recieved a mortgage offer within 2 weeks.
The banking apps great but tempermental when using contactless on London TfL. Hence why I no longer use them as my bank bank when paying for services by card.

Avoid this bank and the branch at 27 Soho st. Their customer service is apalling. After going to the bank twice already, my daughter went to finally open an account with all the required documents, and the person at the reception told her it was the wrong University form - they had just changed their policy. She had waited 2 weeks for this appointment. They then told her they could only take her in another 2 and half weeks. They should have apologised and given her an expedited appointment - rather than treating her in this way. Students need bank accounts asap when they move to london - and ignoring this is taking advantage of youth, who often still dont know how to complain. I will never use Barclay's - leaving students stranded - especially when it is due to their failure or abrupt change is irresponsible.

I went for the Freedom Rewards credit card. The points they reward are low really, but what diseases me is that after 3 years they remove the points you accumulate from your account. Problem here is that they do not inform you in statements that the points you have expire, and no other points scheme e.g Nectar, Tesco clubcard, nationwide reward points, Natwest reward points or others do this. They should make this clear from the outset which they don't for obvious reasons, and statements should include this information, e.g like credit card when it expires. Obvious really. They don't. When you want to leave feedback, there is no robust system in place for this on such matters. They should have this, and really as their bonus scheme isn't generous anyway, there should be no expiry on points at all. When redeemed for vouchers, they do have expiry dates but this is detail normally included but at least it is there and communicated. They are happy to send unsolicited mail, but getting things like this improved upon isn't something I have found Barclays interested in. When asked why they do make the points expire and then delete, not one advisor can state wy this is the case.

No idea what's happened to Barclays. I have had two new debit cards in the last few weeks. No real explanation as to why? I've been unable to use my online banking due to a fault which has gone on for weeks and I've given up calling them. After 40 years I'm going elsewhere!

I've setup a business account with Barclays. Received the pack to setup business account and tried to set it up. It was a nightmare! Web Online Banking doesn't work with their PINSentry Card Reader for new user (Error 1120), apparently it's a known issue and can only use Mobile PIN Sentry for it to work.
Now, getting Barclays Mobile App setup was another nightmare. I got Error RP053, I called them and they told me that I had to activate my card first which I already did. Finding all sorts of way to get you off the phone.
I requested them to pass me to a higher level support team and they told me they can't and so on and demanded me to try again.
So I did and we spent an hour back and forth with his/her supervisors. After spending some time, they decided it's best to pass me to Level 2 support.
The guy told me that he needs to provide me activation code for the mobile app to work. Finally, managed to get into the app and you need to wait for 4 days for the mobile pinsentry to work.
7 days later, mobile PIN sentry is still not working. I called and they say the "data was corrupted". How can they messed up so many times and as someone who works in the software industry I do not buy that excuse, you won't be able to load the account if the data is corrupted. The customer service told me "Just so you know, I did not mess up your data, it was someone else", absolutely loved their team work.
So after that call, they manage to fix it and it's all working fine until, my business partner called the customer service as he was having the same issue as well. During the call with the customer service, I received a text saying "You have successfully cancelled your Barclays BMB registration".
That text means the mobile registration that took me 4 hours on customer service being passed around and so on was cancelled and I'm unable to login to the mobile app anymore!
What a nightmare using them. I'm now in the middle of cancelling the business account and moving to another bank.

WORST BANK IN HISTORY

One thing peeves me about Barclays is that they just do not provide a reply to the question being asked. A course in letter reading would be a massive step forward.
Too much reliance on preformatted phrases cut and pasted onto replies. If that's how it's done then please use the correct phrase.
Anyway, I'm trying to pay off my mortgage but only Barclays could turn such a simple thing into the drama.

Two staff members sat at a desk just talking, two other staff members just standing talking discussing a member of the public not very professional. I used one of the self service machines, I was having difficulty the machine was beeping away no one came to help too busy talking. Figured out myself eventually. Money for old rope. Good excuse not to do anything these open plan banks stick them back behind the counters where they used to be.

Been trying to set up an account for nearly an hour when it should have been a ten minute job. My security question has to be exactly 20 characters long but it has to be easy to remember, explain that one to me... I also can't use any numbers from my birthday leaving me with 5 numbers, surely by leaving out half of the numbers my bank account is more at risk. What the hell is their problem!!!!!!!

Absolutely useless. My phone updated to android 10, now the app doesn't work, they have no idea when it will work, the agent tried to blame Google, but I reminded him that the beta versions are sent to devs long before general release, just do they have the app ready.
So I though, I'll log in on the pc... No such luck! The pins entry decided it wanted to screw me over, so I try to log in 3 times (following the instructions to the letter) and bam! Locked... Call a number... Damn.
Soni call the number... Wait 29 minutes and then get a foreign voice basically tell me I did it wrong!.... OK, I say, reset it and I'll set it up again... Que 30 pointless questions to prove who I am... Then it comes... "enter your card in your pin sentry". Guess what, It doesn't work properly, the code I give isn't right apparently so he can't help me... No alternate way of sorting it, apart from going to a branch. Waste of time. Avoid like the plague

I have been banking with Barclays for nearly 40 years.
I have the Barclaycard app to make payments easier and have been using that along with online and mobile services for many years.
Today I logged in to the Barclaycard app to find that some genius has combined my Barclaycard account with my other accounts.
No one at Barclays told me this was happening or even consulted me on how I wanted to manage MY MONEY.
Furthermore the statement balance showing was £2000 more than I actually owed.
I pressed the button to contact customer services, this just goes round a doom loop until it eventually crashed.
So I phoned up customer services having found the number on the back of my Barclaycard as it sure as hell wasn’t on the app. Eventually after checking 3 times the customer service chap managed to find the correct balance!
Having gone back onto the app it is extremely slow and tedious to use. It is unintuitive and extremely over Complex in addition to not actually being what I want from an app I was using to keep my Barclaycard, premier and business accounts separate.
The chat line was supposed to be open from7 am to 11pm.i logged in at 7:30 to be told it was shut and to try again when they were open.
Clearly Barclays have no regard for their customers so they will find I have no regard for them and will move accounts. If I could have given less than 1 star I would have.

Ridiculous fraud detection and questions
I recently opened a new Hawaiian Airlines Credit Card with Barclays Banks and I was planning to use this card to purchase tickets. The transaction got declined by using the same billing name, address and ip address from my house.
I have to call in, then the fraud agent asked me some fully questions such as what is the street name if you turn right from you house, or how many households you have and their names. It is a BS. I closed this card and I do not want to do any business with them anymore. I also feel sorry for Hawaiian Airlines to choose this kind of partner to issue their card.

I want to say a big thanks to Zeynep from Whalthamstow branch. In few minutes she helped me to solve my problems in a very professional way. I have been impressed, because I tried in an other branch (in Piccadilly) to solve the same problems, but without success. Thanks a lot, ZEYNEP !
