Backcountry Has decided to trade mark this word and Sue anyone using it?? What a joke! I could never support a company who would do something like this. I understand trade marking Except when is something so common. They picked this name because it was being used and now have decided to let no one else use it.

Garbage store that files petty lawsuits against small businesses. I was appalled to read about the 100+ lawsuit's this company has filed against small businesses that use the word backcountry.

I see all the negative reviews and that must have prompted them to turn things around... I made a purchase for a sweater and received it in 2 days. The sweater is well made and incredibly warm, my partner just preferred a different sweater as I had purchased a few before Christmas to have options. I called to place a return with customer service and was on the phone with someone in under a minute and a shipping label sent to me in the next minute. Highly recommend, if just to give some of their clothing a try if you're interested. It worked out incredibly well and I'll likely look to see what they have for clothing options in the future. Thanks for the great experience.

Their prices can be matched so many other places on the internet. We need to stand up as a community and let this company know that corporate bullying against our true backcountry comrades is not only wrong but has a PRICE! Their practices show that they don't belong in this industry.

Support any other locally owned company but this one. Trying to destroy the Backcountry community. If it was possible to give them 0 stars, I would.

I wish I could give them zero stars. I won't be spending another cent at backcountry.com. They used to be an ok business, but not anymore.

Shame in backcountry for frivolous lawsuits based on commonplace words. Disgusting. Dispicable. How you believe that pursuing this course is anything short of a complete lack in ethical corporate governance is beyond me.

Absolute bully!! The online retailer Backcountry.com is suing small businesses who also use the term backcountry' in their names. This includes many small adventure companies as well as the motorcycle non-profit BDR (Backcountry Discovery Routes). Please help the many small business who use the term "backcountry" in their name or product names and send Backcountry.com a message by boycotting their company. Backcountry' is a generic term that is widely used throughout the adventure industry and shouldn't be trademarked by anybody, this is totally nuts.

Now backcountry is a terrible company. Do not recommend them to anyone. I have been a customer since 2003 and have spent thousands on gear. They used to care about their customers and now they care about money and only money. They have done nothing but destroy peoples lives.

Wow, I am greatly saddened that this company is suing small companies and nonprofits for using the generic "backcountry" in their business names. These companies don't have the funds to fight back. I cannot, in good conscience, support backcountry.com. I will support companies that do the right thing.

I have ordered from them in the past. NO MORE. Sued 10 small companies for using the word backcountry, including a women's avalanche education group. Just mean. Not protecting any brand. Suing companies that they should be partnering with, supporting.
Please- if you value small business, never order from them. They have hurt so many people. Caused inmeDurable hardship and misery. Just greed and wanting to bully.

Seriously. I got free 2 day shipping. 9 DAYS AGO (today is the 16th) UPS has "received shipment information" 9 DAYS AGO. I called and asked yesterday, I was simply told, "we are having issues." You want an issue Backcountry? I ordered the same gift 2 days ago from someone else (they got a glowing review and I dimed you out by name and I got it TODAY. I'm waiting for your deliver to see how incompetent you are then I'm sending it back so you can pay for it. Free returns, right? We'll see. AVOID this lying company.

Rather than investing in their company to remain competitive they decided they'd rather sue to improve their bottom lines and remove competitors. Bigly sad.

Worst shopping experience ever. Been trying to contact them for over a week about a response to my order but still no resolution. No more backcountry for me.

When I found out they went after a woman run small business that promotes backcountry safety and education that was it. They are trying to destroy all the small businesses that grew from their love of the outdoors and our community because of what....using the word that describes the world we love to be in! How dare you BackCountry! It's NOT YOUR WORD! It's our world and you lost a whooooole lot of your customer base by turning into greedy pigs. Shame on you! How could you do this to the people you claim to support! DIsgusting! I am more than happy to spread the word to everyone I know to NOT use you for anything ever again.

Clearly this company doesn't know the type of people that live for the outdoor. The petty crap they are trying to pull is aweful.

Placed order on 8/5 for backpack I needed for a hiking trip on 8/10 and requested 2 day shipping. It didn't go out on 8/5 because of a mistake on their end with my billing address, however I was assured it would go out on 8/6 and with the 2 day shipping I would have it by 8/8. Fine, no problem. But on 8/8 no backpack so I called them (3rd phone call) and they could not give me an explanation. I was on the phone for 30 minutes with them and was told it would ship overnight that day and would arrive on 8/9. When I got home from work on 8/9 no backpack! I called them again -- 4th call -- and again they could give me no explanation. I cancelled the order. They kept promising I'd have it and I really believed them each time and they never called or emailed to say there was a delay. Now I have no pack for hiking trip I'm leaving on tomorrow.

This is a terrible company. DO NOT EVER ORDER FROM THEM. They are deceptive, liars, and fraudulent. They lie about their prices and what they really have in stock. THIS ONLINE RETAILER NEEDS TO BE SHUTDOWN AND ONLY THE PUBLIC CAN DO THIS BY NOT BUYING FROM THEM.

They had a link to Outdoor Gear Lab stating that a Rab Microlight Alpine Mens' Jacket was on sale for $209.99. Following the link the sale was actually for an extra large version of the jacket from the prior year. Every single other Rab Microlight Alpine Mens' Jacket was $279.95. Very poor of this retailer to offer an advertising scam like that.
Avoid Backcountry.com like the plague!

Not only does this company treat their employees like slaves and terminate them because they broke their ankle and could no longer sprint around the warehouse an average of 12 miles per day (I have met other people who have been terminated for similar reasons despite the will to work. They refused to switch me to a desk position and "didn't feel like extending my leave").. But now they have decided to TM the WORD "backcountry" and sue 300+ businesses with the word "backcountry" in their name. The amount and "reason" they are suing these businesses for, is grotesque. I hope all of these boycotters turn enough folk away from them to prevent them from being a functional business any further! If I could give zero stars, I would.

Slimeball sue happy company that doesn't deserve to exist in the outdoor community. Goodbye backcountry, good luck trying to frivolously sue small businesses with your army of lawyers, let's see how that works out for you. Pro tip: change your law firm that's telling you this is a good idea.

This company was bought by a private equity group a couple years ago, and then began to aggressively track small family businesses using the word "backcountry" in their name. Many of which had no competing business or position with this mediocre e-commerce retailer.
This company is just another example of how corporate greed and misunderstood consumer spending can be leveraged to attack and destroy local businesses.
And the icing, they even went after two nonprofits that actually promote the lifestyle that this e-commerce retailer seeks to sell to!!
I recommend using your spending dollars wisely...research the companies you spend with...your dollars are just like votes, and if you want to support local, passion driven businesses, spend your money there. There are so many benefits I won't get into here, but it's worth it.
Avoid Backcountry.com. I will never spend another dollar with them ever again.

Backcountry used to be a good company. Maybe it was never good. It has come to my attention through various sources that they are now suing other companies over the word backcountry. I will no longer support them as a company and will choose to support other companies who share the love of the outdoors more than profit margins. I hope you do too.
