I hired a car in Italy through Autoeurope in June/July and bought their selfinsurance cover - Supercover. First part of the process (getting the right in time etc) went fine, however after returning the car it has went wrong with the service from Autoeurope. First there was a damage to the car (not Autoeurope's failure of course) however when trying to get the amount paid to AVIS for the damage from Autoeurope under the insurance bought it is now 11 weeks after Autoeurope promised to settle within maximum 8 weeks. And they still try to postpone and make excuses. Secondly I was incorrectly charged more than 110 EUR more by AVIS then agreed with Autoeurope and now 11 weeks after I have still not been able to get a sensible response from Autoeurope and recovery of the overcharging. Unfortunately I can only warn against using Autoeurope as car hire broker

A lot of the good reviews for this company on here seem like suspicious and paid spam.
I had a reservation with them and was refused a car because I didn't have a credit card. Even though I had the card I used to pay for the reservation online, a card that worked before with other car rental companies and with AutoEurope themselves. Due to the more stringent policies of the car rental provider, Sixt, I was refused a car and then refused a refund with AutoEurope. Their customer service ignored me and I'm now pursuing a dispute and claim with my bank.
They believe it is fair for them to keep the entire 14-day rental amount because I had no credit card. Even though I am a returning customer and previously used my debit card without any issues.
They do not operate with a good will and intention towards their customers and are instead looking for any way to keep your money!

Credit Card was not accepted for payment of the deposit - so far, so good.
In that case I would expect any flexibility / goodwill / offering of alternatives --> especially by a service provider. None of that was the case.
Even though reimbursement of the money was promised - nothing, besides useless calls with the helpline, was reimbursed.
1) Helpless staff at the pickup desk
2) No goodwill by the car company
3) Useless helpline
If there's any deviation from standard: the mess is pre-arranged. Never again.

I did the reservation of my car for a family vacation with Auto Europe. Auto Europe sent me a Voucher / a contract, in which all the conditions of this rental were set. Thus Auto Europe is my contact company, my addressee in this matter.
Maggiore is one partner company of Auto Europe for Italy, and they should have provided me the reserved car (I already had paid the car rental costs at Auto Europe). But when I wanted to pick up the reserved car in Milano, I was told by he staff of Maggiore that that car was not available. That is, in my point of view, a breach of contract. By not providing me the car that I had reserved, Maggiore broke my existing reservation! The staff in Maggiore then told me that he could give me a similar car. In any case, standard practice in such a situation is that the company will offer a similar car for the same price to the client. Because it is only the company's fault, if the pledged car is not available. It is not the client's fault.
Maggiore then forced me to sign a new document (contratto) and to take the other car. The staff of Maggiore lied to me by telling me that I would get a "similar" car. He did not tell me that that car would come at a higher price. So when I thought about the standard practice in such a situation and the staff told me about a "similar car", I automatically assumed that that replacement car would come at the same price as the pledged car. The document that I signed was in Italian language. I don't understand Italian, and the staff of Maggiore refused to explain to me the content of the document. He only marked the places in the document where I had to sign. I signed everything, because of the reasons explained above ("standard practice"), and because other people were already waiting there and complaining that my transaction took too much time.
When I returned the car 9 days later, I was shocked to learn that the car company asked me to pay additional car rental costs! It turned out that they had not given a "similar" car to me, but a slightly "better" car, and they wanted additional money from me. Even though I protested against this, they later withdrew the additional costs from my credit card.
I then wrote 4 e-Mails to Auto Europe, explaining the matter to them, and asking them to refund me the amount that was deducted from my credit card for the use of the replacement car.
But Auto Europe just ignored my e-mails, they did not reply to me anymore!
After this bad experience, I will never book a car through Auto Europe anymore ...

Worse service provider ever! Don’t use them!! Book directly at the car rental companies.
I paid 450 euro’s for a car. My flight was delayed, and they claimed that I should write to them..hmmm but how? I am on an airplane!!
When I arrived to get my car, then wanted a deposit- but did not accept my card. The actual rental place was like..no problem let’s cancel and you can rent a car with someone how take your Visa ...but auto Europe were a bunch of rude people!!! No you can not change it, they replied. Read the contract, the told me..
But the contract says Visa and I have a Visa but apparently not the right one.
They told me “ we know that people don’t read the contract, but that is not our problem..was a bunch of *^]><\<
So I could not get the car that I actually paid for..not because of the rental service but because of auto Europe!!
Finally I made a deal with the car rental, and had to pay an additional 300 euros to get the car..an insane about of money since I already paid 450 euro for a Citroen.
I will do my best to make it clear to everyone I know and don’t know!!
Don’t use them!!!! Go to sixt, herts what ever directly!!!
Don’t don’t don’t!!

I hired a car through Auto Europe in Finland. It was supposed that Europcar was handing it over. To my astonishment the car was not given to me. According to the employee I was on a blacklist. No reason was given.
Auto Europe has nevertheless taken my money. And after four weeks of hotline-waiting and talks with different employees I am not given any answer. Their system is very unclear. I was asked to send an E-Mail with my complaint. After doing this, I was sent an Online-Form to fuill in (again).
In Finland I had to hire another more costly car.

Never ever rent a car from Auto Europe.
If You have any other options, then use another company.
I rented the car, desent price, but after returning the car they made withdrawn on my account for almost the double amount of money.
Different fees, pick-up fee, administration fee etc.
I will never use this company again, then I would rather pay some more money for the rent and then rent it by a desent company.
You could think that I delivered the car without fuel, to late, a damaged car or something like this. But the car was delivered as it should and all the other fees are not for these cases.
I think Auto Europe have a car policy to rent the cars cheap and then try to get more money whenever possibly.
And who will use effort and time to fight them when the money are withdrawn from the account ?
Another issue, Auto Europe just had a sub supplier to deliver the car to me. So why rent from Auto Europe at all.
So DON'T rent at Auto Europe, It is a scam company.
Find a desent company and rent Your car there.
I would like to give zero stars, but not possible here on Trustpilot.

Unfortunately, I made a mistake in my booking (set the wrong month), so I had to book my rental car twice. As I didn‘t show up to pick-up the car of the first booking (Auto Europe voucher via Billiger-Mietwagen.de), the car rental company told, they didn‘t charge anything for the no show... But Billiger-Mietwagen can‘t help me getting a refund because of Auto Europe’s no refund policy... For sure, this booking and cancelation did’t cost them as much as the price paid for 11 days car rental! Seems it‘s their strategy to win as carbroker... by the way, direct booking at the rental company wasn‘t more expensive!

If everything goes without issues, fine. But if you have an issue, don't count on them to help you.
We were supposed to get a full tank and when we got to the parking it was not full. The employee there signed us that the car was actually not full and said to claim back after bringing the car back.
We claimed, only got an answer after 4 month and it was rejected although we had a signed document from the rental company that the tank was actually not full.

unbelievably unorganized customer service. I cancelled a prepaid rental car booking on time. The problem is that they tried to transfer the refund back to a non-existent account. Now I have been in constant contact with them for 15 weeks about getting my money back. They keep making up different excuses, give different information and different contact people every time. Avoid this company!

Never rent a car trough this site. They cheat people. After ended rent and some weeks later they take money from credit card illegally. When you write to them they say it is because you got a speed ticket which is not true. The use illegal ways to get extra money from people. I will never use a site like this again and can not recoment other also. Use a site that does not cheat people. You can also not contact them by phone only by email which is difficult. I have regreat so much I have used this site for renting a car. I write to DOLLAR and they say it is one of Hertz companies but why it is auto Europe that answer I can't understand. I think it is because it easier to cheat people this way and there for they do like this.

RENTED A CAR THROUGH AUTO EUROPE AND WAS OVERCHARGED BY 1,106 EUR!
I rented a car through Auto Europe for 4 days and paid full rental price of 141 EUR at the booking time. I signed the agreement when I picked up the car at Budget rental agency at the airport of Toulouse - Blagnac, which mentioned no other fees except for 141 EUR that I had already paid. I returned the car as agreed – undamaged and with full tank. The car was inspected by a Budget representative and the contract was closed in my presence with no incident or discussion of additional fees due.
Two days AFTER the contract was closed I discovered I was charged an additional 1106,86 EUR by Avis (??) without my knowledge or authorization! In fact, I discovered the fees when looking through my bank statement.
I spent hours on the phone with Budget and contacted Auto Europe trying to determine where these charges came from. At first Budget assured me that the charges were a mistake and that I would get a refund by the end of the week. Later they referred me to Auto Europe Customer Service and closed my case with no resolution. They did, however, send me a copy of my supposed “agreement”, which appeared to have been modified and looked completely different from the one I had signed at pickup.
It’s now been over 2 weeks and at least 4 hours spent with Customer Service of Budget and Auto Europe. Neither of them has taken responsibility for the error or could explain where the charges came from. I still haven’t received a refund, nor a response from AutoEurope Customer Service! I am spending my vacation trying to figure out this outrageous mess!!!
