i'm an original kickstarter backer:
to all crybabies in here or anywhere:
go check how much an arcteryx jacket costs. This apricoat jacket was dirt cheap, again DIRT CHEAP, like super cheap. Again, this jacket costs like 20% of what established brands charge for similar features.
you pay for a honda civic but want a amg v12 handcrafted engine? get your expectation in line people.
under $200 jacket = most you going to get is north face garbage for the most part. This jacket far exceeds my expectations for the amount of money i paid.
i'm 90% satisfied with my jacket. my only complain is the sizing is a bit smaller than i thought. i wear XL on all my jackets. This jacket however has sizing similar to Moncler in that it is a slim fit, or too slim for the size.
the sheer amount of pockets puts a smile on my face every day. so many light jackets these days lack inner pockets. this has got to be the stupiest trend ever.
i used my jacket in all seasons minus summer. Granted it does not perform as well as an arcteryx beta AR, but for 20% of the cost of a beta AR,what the heck do i have to complain about?
i love my apricoat jacket.

I was one of the early birds backing this project. After all the delays in production, I forgot that the jacket was even purchased, but decided now, more than two years later, to send them a mail about my missing jacket. I was met with: "You need to prove that you have not received your jacket" beyond having a statement from my country's postal service that they have not received any shipments from Apricoat. I have one hundred percent given up on receiving my jacket and take this as a life lesson. In gaming, I learned not to preorder any products before reviews are in. I'm gonna follow the same principle with Kickstarter projects...

It took over a year to receive my coat after continual requests. Coat quality its good but there are items missing from the advertised coat - eg harness points.
Would not buy again.

Wife loved this jacket! I received a message on Facebook and we ordered it. She was amazed at fit, "both" colors and all the well placed pockets. I mentioned "both" colors...me being me, I accidently ordered a blue instead of the pink that she wanted. The good news was that she wanted a medium (her normal size) but it was too small. So...I returned the blue/medium for a pink/large. It was PERFECT! Apricoat support was great!

I was a backer for this jacket, when it finally arrived it was nothing like the promo video. The color and fit are exactly what I expected but.. the zipper is backwards, it is not wind or rain proof, the inflatable head pillow was shown as a horse shoe shape that fills the hood and I got a small sausage that bunches up in the fabric of the hood. The lining is not the thin thermal material promised it is more of a fleece that gets heavy when wet(remember it doesn't repel water) and uncomfortably hot when hiking. All the accessories were cheap dollar store items, not the quality products shown in the video. Other than the great color it is useless. Customer service never responded to my emails. We all got scammed. If someone starts a class action suit against them, count me in.

I really like the fit of the jacket - it makes me look slim even when I have filled some (not all) of the pockets. The color is great (blue) and stands out nicely in a crowd of bland black or grey coats, and it keeps me very dry. No issues at all,so I really don’t know what these other reviewers are talking about. It’s a rain jacket, not a ski jacket, so if you’re expecting something really warm you should get something warmer, but for 3 seasons out of the year this is a great jacket.

The only good thing about this jacket is all the pockets. Not at all waterproof

Didn't get what I paid for.
I ordered the jacket along with a solar charger which was quite a bit extra. Never got the solar charger.
Emailed them twice, for told they were working on a solution... Needless to say they haven't come back when one after all these years.

What started out as a great idea and sweet jacket, turned into unacceptable customer service. I was part of the Kickstarter on this jacket- it seemed like the greatest jacket. I waited, way longer than anticipated to get my jacket. I get it- kickstarters can be a slow process. Then when I finally get my jacket, it doesn’t fit. I’ll admit I didn’t pay close attention to their size guide. Fine. I accept my mistake and waited even longer for their exchange process. When it was finally available, I exchanged my coat, only to receive a men’s instead of a women’s. When I brought this to their attention they were very considerate and helpful getting me a replacement. When the new one arrived, it is just totally mis-sized. I provided photos showing the measurements of their jacket and compared them to the sizes they listed online- were taking 1-2 inch discrepancies. When I asked about getting a replacement and to be assured they all weren’t mis-sized, I was told I would be responsible for return shipping even though their jacket was wrong. Oh and by the way all the communications took 1-2 weeks to respond. When I asked for a customer service phone number through messenger, I was told they don’t have one. And was then BLOCKED. Now I cannot communicate with them at all. I’m stuck with a jacket hat doesn’t fit due to their manufacturing problem and I’m out the money for the jacket. I understand there are problems with starting a new brand, but take care of your customers. Otherwise there will be no brand. The jacket was cool, I wish I could wear it. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend.

Great coat, very well made, but it took two years before I received it after supporting their initial Kickstarter campaign. That might have been because they had to catch up with all the orders, but after trying to communicate with them over that time, I never heard back, which was frustrating.

Very happy with my jacket! Very proud of the Apricoat Team! It takes a lot of courage to get a project like this on the track. Yes, they met many obstacles, and the delay to get my jacket was endless, but, you know what? It was born with Kickstarter, and I'm very proud to have trusted it! ;)

So, this is an honest review. I originally ordered an XL because that's the size I wear in everything else. It was way too small. So I repackaged it the way that they're web site said and sent a message to customer service as to where to send it. I wanted a 2X to replace it. After a couple of months of the website not having a 2X available in my desperation I saw they had a 3X and I went for it. When it came I was disappointed to see that the reflective climate she'll material wasn't in this jacket. It's a sythetic gray material that seems to cling to cotton. That said though, I love the jacket. It works really well, I had no problems with it. Everything functioned as advertised. Looks great. It's comfortable. It's really honestly probably the best coat I've ever owned. My issue is that it doesn't have the climate shell. It's like they ran out and just used the kind of material that's in a cheap sleeping bag. If it had the climate shell as advertised I would have given 5 stars dispite the size issue and that it took forever to get. I love the company model and the product. For real I recommend the coat. Everyone should have one. It's been great. But it was a bit of a Hassel to get it and in the right size.

Disclaimer: I understand that there were a lot of frustrated backers which accounts for the disproportionately low score for this product. I do not, however, think it is quite reflective of the company or product, at least in my experience so far, so I made my star review perhaps more positive than I would have otherwise to try to counter-balance this but have detailed everything below:
As a background, I am notoriously bad about claiming my crowdfunded products. More to the point, I waited about a year after the claiming time to realize I hadn't put in an address and I emailed Apricoat. The wait time was a bit long, but a little understanding of their strained circumstances goes a long way. They eventually gave me a code despite it being so late (something other campaigns have been known not to do). More than this, I then didn't use that code for two months and when I did it didn't work. Even with me harassing them again for a code for my purchased apricoat they patiently sent me another and I ordered my jacket. I admit that I was a little disappointed that I had to pay shipping since I paid 10$ extra in my original backing to cover it, but in the scheme of things it was worth the "convenience fee," if you will, for the time they spent trying to troubleshoot with me to make sure I got this product. They seem to care about their customers, or perhaps more positive reviews, but my customer service experience was mostly positive.
The jacket seems beautifully made, though I admit to being no expert as normally I pay as little as possible for everything I own because I'm a cheap vagabond. The zippers all move like butter with the exception of the underarm pocket and have seemingly excellent waterproofing. I live in Arizona so I haven't gotten a chance to really test that feature out. In fact, with it approaching Summer, I won't be testing much out with this for a while so perhaps more to come. However, I put this jacket on and went from being regular hot (because, again, it's Arizona) to being the temperature of cooling magma within about 10 seconds. This doesn't do me much good now but in the Winter when it drops to 40 and I feel like I'll freeze to death because I'm a desert rat this jacket is going to be fantastic.
Points of rather extreme disappointment: The lack of the inflatable pillow, blindfold, and safe-anchor emergency clip. Having received the product now and seeing that none of these were included, I wouldn't purchase this again, unfortunately. I wish that I could give a more positive review because I want so badly for this company to succeed but those three items were the main appeal of the jacket and what made it unique, the whole reason I went outside of my "never pay over 100$ for any clothing, ever" rule.

I had a little more money to my name two years ago and decided to invest in a good outdoors coat. I have never received my jacket - end of story. A complete scam of a company.

Coat is nothing like advertised, and poorly made after one week the cuff strap cut through the stitching and fell off. They now want me to ship it to them at my own cost to see if it qualifies for replacement. They say they can’t send me a strapas they don’t have any!!!
DO NOT TRUST
After they read this I was offered a replacement to update this review, they made me pay for shipping then when it got here I had to pay Duty to get the coat. They refuse to pay Duty outside of USA !!!
So unless they refund the duty they can have the coat back, I’ve paid far too many times for this

This was a huge con from the beginning

As many have stated, not all people have had a good experience with Apricoat and I would consider myself partially one of those because I had ordered the solar battery and solar blanket which didn't get delivered due to logistical issues. However I did get the jacket, probably one of the best I own which has made up for the loss of the battery and blanket somewhat. However in the recent note on Kickstarter explaining the situation in a very transparent manner I feel that Alon & Yoav are two individuals that deserve to be supported. It is clear they are trying to do the right thing as best they can and I intend to track this company closely and will continue to support them as best as I can. In business it is rare to find fundamental integrity, especially through the hard times (dealing with customers who you have let down significantly). In my opinion Alon & Yoav are trying to do what few do, address mistakes (sometimes made by others), taking the responsibility and being accountable... all the hallmarks of people with strong character.
Crowd-funding is always challenging and not every project is successful, significant hurdles are encountered as people learn about challenging business practices and in some cases unethical decision making. In the case of Apricoat and Alon & Yoav, I wholeheartedly support their efforts and applaud their current actions to address the deficiencies in their first campaign. I will watch them closely in the future and if they produce a product of interest for me, I will have no issue supporting them again.

Great jacket that is comfortable and looks good. I'm very impressed with how much it can carry and all the features.
I did find the sizes a little small and zipping up the jacket when fully loaded up is a bit umcomfortable, but overall a handy part of my travel kit.

It took 2 years to arrive, and many frustrating moments, but I genuinely like this jacket. The materials are great quality and it feels really well put together. I'm satisfied with the purchase.
Also, buyers from EU, beware of import duties!

The jacket is light weight and have a few excellent features. But it does not live up to all the standards they tried to set. It is not a winter jacket. Your shoulders are exposed inside the jacket, so you loose heat that way... The insulation works, your stomach will stay warm, but not your chest. The hood is poorly made... But even with all its flaws it is still my everyday/hiking jacket. I still love it.

Good things with the Apricoat:
1. Looks good!
2. Lots of pockets for anything you need. No more need for bags!
3. Amazing quality and design!
4. Good price vs value.
Will buy again!

I received my jacket, just before a ski trip to Austria, and it was perfect for the trip. I used it since then on a daily basis, i am very happy overall, and the jacket is just what I expected. I especially likes all the different pocket, one for my iPhone, one for AirPods, one for my wallet, one for glasses, so I know if I brought everything when I leave the house.
