Doctor never called my son who is in crisis after a confirmed appointment. They blamed the holidays.
DO NOT USE THIS SERICE EVER

I have health insurance but was told to pay full fees upfront and get re-imbursed afterwards due to a glitch in their website that day they couldnt honor insurance. Terrible customer service and long wat times spent an hour on the phone with them trying to get help. In the end I went with Doctor on Demand and was seen within 5 minutes. After using Amwell for 2 years this was third issue with website and customer service and long wait times. I will not use them again. I sent follow up surveys and comments and 6 months later still have not had any follow up on the terrible experience.

This was my first experience with telemedicine and I am thoroughly impressed!
I was able to set up my account, verify insurance, and have a virtual visit within ten minutes.
I'm a nurse of 20 years so I can verify that the doctor was thorough and his assessment and questions were appropriate.
My medication was called in promptly and ready for pick up within the hour.

Clunky, lots of technical issues, costly. To be fair I didn't go through with doctor visit after multiple, frustrating technical issues I just went with another tele-health provider where I was seen within minutes at less than half the cost.
I'd used Virginia Mason's telehealth before; last year they partnered with Amwell to provide thier services. What went from a simple, intuitive and fast procedure changed to a complicated, troubled, frustrating, unusable application.
Amwell did not transfer my old account information requiring that I attempt to log a new account. Because the system had my Email already registered it both refused a new account sign up AND would not allow me to log into my former VM account. Attempts to reset my password resulted in no password reset Emails. A call to customer service resulted in him searching for about 10 minutes to try to locate my account, offering he's probably have to escalate it to technical support because of issues on his end.
He finally got me a temporary password which allowed me to access my account... but to use the services you have to download an entirely separate application - a process that took nearly 5 minutes in addition to the 20 I'd been dicking around with the service prior.
Changing computer settings for the application to access my camera and microphone took another few minutes and testing the connection ANOTHER 5 (a silly test that tested upload and download speed!?!? Look, in this day and age the connection either works or it doesn't... watching a speedometer testing your ISP speed is STUPID and not of concern to a f'ing patient, in pain and JUST. WANTING. TO. SEE. A. PROVIDER
FINALLY getting a chance to enter in the details of my health history and issue the application shut down and sent me to the log in page MULTIPLE times requiring I type in all the info AGAIN.
FINALLY getting to the payment page Amwell did not list my insurance - despite it being Blue Cross, one of the largest providers in the nation!?!? - wanting to charge me immediately the full cost of $69.
No thanks: there's about 43 other tele-medicine providers who provide services at $25 - $35 per encounter WITHOUT needing to download a separate application, test your computer, enter your information multiple times AND reject one of the largest insurance providers in the nation

Well we have it through insurance and we have called a couple of times when I am with the flu and running fever and they sent me to emergency room that we don’t have where we live and they charge a lot of money because it’s a hospital for the whole town so on weekends they have one or two people that come from Phoenix so it’s packed with really bad issues and I cannot wait hours in the emergency room been with the flu so this is a useless service

They claim they will provide a virtual visit online but their video system never works. I just spent an hour and a half getting knocked out twice and then promised a phone call visit which never happened. When I called back to ask why they didn't call me back Sierra said she forgot to hit "enter." She then put me though to some holding music without a word as to why and no one picked up. Later, I got through to a supervisor, Ceclia, who refused to have a doctor call me even though Wisconsin law allows it. She then hung up on me because I raised my voice after waisting two hours of my life on this company!! Do not waste your time or money with this service!

I will never use Amwell again. I payed my copay then a claim was filed portion left owing was my responsibility and without and notification from Amwell about amount I owe they just took it out of my account without letting me know that is not good business at all. My account with them will be deleted no one has will just take money from my account with out first making me aware.

In the year that I have been using Amwell, they have never applied my insurance's payment on their own once. I have to watch my insurance portal to see that the claim is paid, request the check number and issue date, and them email Amwell and make them refund me what I'm owed. This is incredibly bad business! Once I can understand, sometimes things get misplaced, but every time? If my insurance didn't "strongly recommend" that this service be used instead of in-office appointments, I would never come back. Unfortunately, I get to fight with them for payment on a regular basis.

This is a bad review for Amwell and United Healthcare (UHC), who seem to be conspiring together in my opinion. The process to use this service is as follows;
1. When signed on to UHC's website they link directly to Amwell for virtual visits with an ad-like banner about how convenient and inexpensive and COVERED it is.
2. Go to Amwell and go through their process, where you put in your insurance and can choose a doctor. Nowhere do you have the ability to see if it's in network for you or to select to only use an in network provider (I triple checked this).
3. UHC then denies the claim and then has you pay for the denied service on UHC's own website!!! In my opinion it seems as though they're either keeping the entire payment or they're taking a payment processing fee from the claim THEY DENIED! From the provider THEY RECOMMENDED!
This is crazy, I can't believe this is legal. I will be filing a report with every agency that oversees insurance companies as this is absolutely ludicrous.

Had spoken with doctor on a virtual visit at 10:23 this morning went to pick up prescriptions at 6pm only to find out Dr. Cavanough never sent them to my pharmacy. Have now spent over an hour with Amwell customer service and they tell me it could take up to 4 hours at which point my pharmacy will be closed and my condition will not get better and I will not get any sleep again this evening. First impression are lasting and Amwell doctors left a horrible first impression. Hard to recommend anyone use this service.
***Update*** medication was not filled within 4 hours. It took 6.5 hours from the time I called to the time the actually called my pharmacy, which was already closed. Took them longer than a cable company to make right what doctor or their system messed up. To add insult to injury, their response to this was to email customer support to further escalate which is the department I spent over 2 hours dealing with last night with no result.

Paid 40$ for the doctor to tell me I needed a culture for a UTI. Called in a prescription for a medicine that is cheaper over the counter AZO. This is a rip-off, they give you medicine you already been taking. Save your money or go to cvs.

My experience with Amwell was terrible!! First, the doctor was short and wanted to get off the phone, I waited over 20 minutes for a 4 minute call. I ultimately got the prescription I needed. Then Amwell billed my insurance incorrectly and charged my credit card. I called them to resolve this and there is no customer service!! It will take 20-30 days for them to correct the error!! The customer service reps are dumb and the supervisor I spoke with is condescending and ignorant. STAY AWAY FROM THIS SERVICE. They are a greedy, rude corporation they don't care about anyone's health or providing customer service!! Will not be using this service and don't recommend

I called about my daughter having a UTI and spoke with a doctor who told me I needed to get a urine culture! She clearly has all of the symptoms and the website states they help with UTI’s which is apparently false advertisement. I will not be paying this bill!! Such a JOKE!!!!!!!!!!!

I had a very poor connection and lost signal multiple times. The doctor didnt listen nor could I explain my symptoms due to the intermittent video/audio feed. So called doctor wrote me a sick slip and they charged me $80 for nothing. They didn't even bother to run my insurance. Waste of time and money. Use doctor on demand instead

Problem with the platform or Dr. but before I could see a Dr. not sure if the platform was knocking me off or the Dr. decided not to see but the notes and responses were deleted twice waiting. There is no way to followup with the Dr. (not taking messages). Had to call to see if I was charged for the service since I credit card was taken with the notes. And while there is some convenience, you might want some reliability, don't choose Amwell with Ramiro A. Echeverry, it's a 50/50 chance something will go right.

AmWell DOES NOT send any prescriptions to any pharmacies in Europe. When you search for your nearest pharmacy in the app, NONE show up anywhere in the EU and UK. I waited for my online appt (2.5+ hours on July 4th - only ONE doctor available!) and when it was finally my turn, the app cancelled my appt once they saw I was in Germany (on vacation), with a note stating they don't service Europe pharmacies.
Totally useless. The only upside is I didn't get charged.

Signed up for Amwell for Cigna since I went home due to a terrible flu or cold. When I tried to log in it stated I had the wrong PW. I tried to get the system to send me pw 5 times and it stated it did but never came through. I called the number they provided which was customer service. Customer service stated that it was an issue with gmail since we tried both emails. I sent two emails from both accounts to each other and it came through just fine. The guy kept trying to convince me several times it was gmail's issue and not Amwell's even though they both received email.

No customer support. Doctors fail to renew their contracts. This leaves you with unfilled prescriptions and rescheduled (read reshuffled) doctor appointment. It is sad that I have to go 7-10 days without prescription medication because doctor turnover is so high. Find alternate doctor care. You have been warned.

I had a bad sinus infection and called in to save time. The doctor told me it was viral and needed to run its course. I am familiar with sinus infections and know that is what I have. I will now be having to go to an urgent care after work to get the antibiotics I need. The doctor (Ingrid) was also very rude. I told her this was ridiculous and she sarcastically said back "isn't it". I paid $10 for nothing and a waste of time because I waited 15 minutes on her.

Pretty surprised by the rude treatment I received from your provider today. I simply asked for a refill on my allergy eyedrops that another Amwell provider gave me back in September. Well you would have thought I was asking for crack. She very rudely informed me that I should be asking my eye doctor for that. Well, no duh.. but I go to the eye doctor about once every year or two and I used your service because it was more convenient than trying to schedule an eye exam and drive 4 hours round trip (I live on an island) months before I was due for my next eye appt. I thought that's what your service was for? The previous provider never told me I couldn't call and ask for a refill ever again so there was no reason for this lady to bust out with a lecture in a condescending tone. I had such a positive experience the first time, but I won't be using this service again and I'll be spreading the word. I did not pay $69 for a 2 min. video chat to be scolded, I don't care how many letters are behind her name.

2 co-pays, 2 different doctors, and 7 days later, I am still sick. Spent most of my day talking with customer service trying to get the antibiotic prescription called in that I was told by doc #2 would be at the pharmacy if I needed it. Doc #2 says that my illness didn't warrant an antibiotic and I would need to make another appointment. They say things that they don't do and then deny that they said them. I would not use this service again (and I was so excited to have this option), and I will let everyone know who asks about it that it is a waste of time and money. If you are sick, go somewhere else.
