In September 2017 I purchased a lifestyle garden table and chairs cover and on covering up the furniture for this winter it was found to be splitting.
I know Lifestyle have had a bad batch of covers so I returned it to customer services only without question to have it immediately replaced.
I will certainly continue to make Alton’s my first point of call for my gardening needs.

Bought a bbq from Alton last week. It was delivered within 2 working days. Unfortunately the door panel was damaged. Rang them up and they contacted the manufacturer (Landmann) who shipped me a new door immediately. Excellent service from both companies. Good communication from Alton. Would definitely recommend them to everyone. Thanks in particular to Ben and Jay.

Cannot fault this service. Ordered mid afternoon, arrived following morning first thing. Item was very large (garden storage box) and driver just took this through and put in my garden.

I attended Alton Garden Centre yesterday with my 86 year old Mother who was really looking forward to a lovely day out with her Son and Grandson, to get something for her garden.
Unfortunately the whole experience was ruined when she went to pay for an artificial plant in a pot, which had a reduced sticker on it.
The girl at the checkout explained, politely enough, that the artificial plant was an additional cost to the ticket price, as the ticket price on the pot was for the pot only.
This was not clear at all as the ticket on the plant was hidden inside the pot and instead of my Mother getting the bargain knock down price that she was expecting, the real offer for the plant and pot was actually approximately three times as much as was being displayed on the product
All this could have been forgiven, if a little unacceptable, if it were not for what happened next:
When my mother objected, quite rightly in my opinion, to the misleading pricing, a female member of staff came over in a very belligerent fashion and said if you don't want it, you can put it back now!
She then insinuated that my mother had dishonestly attempted to obtain the products at the cheaper price by placing the artificial flower inside the pot, thereby concealing the ticket on the flowers. She then said "customers do it all the time" and it was her job to ensure that nothing got past checkout without being paid for.
When I pointed out to her that her behaviour towards my Mother was outrageous and unacceptable and that she should be ashamed of treating an elderly lady in that way, she called for a colleague to come over.
At this point I took my Mother outside, as she had already been upset enough at this stage and was in tears by the time I took her outside, as she felt like she being made to feel accused of something.
I left her with my son and went back inside and attempted to explain what had happened to the male colleague that had arrived. When I went to explain what the problem was he got very aggressive, puffed out his chest and came towards me pushing into me with his chest and said "Now how do you like it"
I had to tell him that I didn't like it and to back off. I told him to back off three times before he decided he would.
When I asked what his point was, he said that I was aggressive to one of his staff so he was going to be aggressive towards me, in the same manner, to see how I liked it.
I pointed out to him that I had not behaved anything like that to one of his staff, I had merely picked her up on her behaviour towards my Mother and had not behaved in the slightest way inappropriately towards her. I challenged him to check their CCTV to confirm this but he declined to do so.
I then asked for the name of one of the Directors, as I intended to report the matter. Incredulously, the individual that had been aggressive towards me informed that his name was Peter Bunker and that he was a Director of the company. I informed him that I was disgusted with him and that he would regret his actions as I intended on taking this further.
He then said " I will not regret it"
Well Mr Peter Bunker, I am sure, upon reflection that you are right, you will not regret either your actions or the actions of your staff that caused an 86 year old lady's day to be ruined.
In fact it is I, who have regrets - not only regrets that I took my Mother to your establishment that day but I also regret having been a loyal customer of yours over the last 30 years and spent more than a considerable amount of money over that time with you.
so Peter, I don't know what relation you are to Derek Bunker, but I do know that you will be undoing a lot of his hard work that he has put into Alton's over the years, if you and your staff insist on dealing with customers in this fashion. Not to mention the fact that had you have taken your aggression towards me one step further, you would have ended up being reported to the police.
I strongly suggest that somebody at Alton's starts to care about the increasingly similar comments on Trust Pilot and starts to do something about them.

I have recently made two on-line transactions with this company. In both cases the customer service has been fantastic.
My first order was quite large as I was ordering various items (external garden lighting) for choice and I was immediately telephoned to confirm when the products would be in stock. I explained that I would be returning some of the items and was told this would be no problem. The goods arrived promptly and the returns process was very easy. Again, I was kept informed throughout the whole process and the refund was very quick.
Before placing my second order I emailed customer services with a query. I received a very helpful response within minutes. Once again, my second order arrived very quickly.
A pleasure dealing with this company, will definitely use again.

I visited Alton Garden Centre today with my wife ,she has just come out of hospital after having a total knee replacement,as a little treat and as we are doing up our garden we visited there with my wife on crutches with a view of purchasing items for our new garden .As we entered the centre we noticed 3 empty wheelchairs and politely asked if we could possibly use one instore as my wife was in struggling to walk and was is considerable post op pain.We were told by 3 of your employees in no uncertain terms that unless we had ID on us we could not use one.I explained that we didnt have any ID on us and that my wife was in difficulties and was refused ,We carried on trying to shop and my wife became so uncomfortable walking that we had to abandon our trip and I had to drive my car right up to the entrance as she had to find a chair to rest.We noticed on the way out that the 3 wheelchairs remained unused and the centre was empty.You have lost a lot of custom today because of your ridiculous rules and lack of common sense.Please relay to your staff on the desk at the entrance to use common sense if this happens again.We only came to purchase and shop there we did not think to bring ID with us .

I placed an order for Weber One Touch 57cm Premium Charcoal BBQ for £165. They messed up my order (and they admitted this too) by delivering to my cc billing address instead of the delivery address I gave and they confirmed in email. I called several times and every single time i was told someone will chase up and call me back but nothing. No answer by email either. Lost my money and no reply to my calls or email. Absolutely furious!

I ordered a Ryobi sprayer from your website. When it arrived it has no battery and no charger. There was no warning whatever, on the website page displaying the sprayer, that these items had to be bought separately at considerable extra cost. There was no attempt to direct people to any page offering these items, and subsequent enquiries showed that you were unable even to supply a single battery and charger suitable for use with the sprayer.
Your behaviour over this is totally unacceptable.

I had been looking for some guardman garden stakes and unable to obtain them locally (they seem to have one delivery in spring then thats it 'til next year), turned to the internet and Alton Garden Centre seemed to have them in stock but there was some ambiguity over price on the website so I rang the internet sales line twice but could not get a reply. I then phoned the Gardeen Centre and a member of staff was helpful and rang back when he was able to sort the query out. Satisfied I then ordered on the internet site and received the order a few days later.

You need a new garden tool. You find a good price online and then you wonder how long it will take to come. Your worries are over with these people. Swift despatch means next day or in my case I chose the day after that as I knew someone would be home. Great customer service and a fair delivery charge. You deserve to succeed. Thanks.

Our 23yr old Hayter 41had started to fail so I researched it's replacement. Alton Garden centre had the right mover at the best price and could deliver it in 24 hours!

Recently purchased a Garden Patio Set, and it was delivered within 3 days, which was great. However, there was a problem with the parasol. When I called customer services they passed me through to the online sales team, and to be honest I was expecting the usual "couldn't care less" attitude we seem to have adopted in this country. But I couldn't have been more wrong. They said they'd look into the problem and call me back later that morning - which I doubted - but within 40 mins they had called back, and sorted the problem and told me a replacement was on its way. They couldn't have been more apologetic abut the fact I had a problem which need to be resolved, but the manner in which they sorted the problem (and the timescale) was brilliant. I will definitely be placing more orders with this company, and I have already recommended them to family and friends.
