AP moved our houselot from Melbourne to Wanaka in December 2019. We were very pleased with the quick, reliable and polite service we received in Melbourne. However on arrival in NZ we were told that they could only deliver in two separate loads because AP in Dunedin claimed that AP Australia had advised a shipment of 23 cubic metres instead of the 46 cubic metres. On arrival of the first shipment we found broken furniture which we could accept as part of the risk but one particular piece was smashed and this would not have been possible under normal handling. They brought no tools with them so couldn't put things together again (in spite of this being part of the service). They were unwilling to commit to a date for the rest of the furniture, saying that it would be over the next two weeks. In frustration I phoned the representative we dealt with in Melbourne who escalated up the line. He must have banged some heads together because the second shipment arrived after another couple of days at about 8am but unannounced. What would have happened if we'd been out?
It is a pity that AP in Melbourne was let down so badly by its NZ partners in Dunedin. On the basis of the service we received in NZ, we would not use AP again. Also a word of advice to anyone reading this. If you are going to insure your consignment, then shop around. AP offered to provide insurance with a premium set at 3.5% of our nominated value of our goods which worked out at approximately $4,500. We instead went through an independent broker and the premium payable was $1,025 including the broker's commission. They also made prompt payment when we claimed for the damaged goods in transit.

All nice to you until you have to follow up something after then they don’t call you back.
Don’t put together the furniture properly as they just rush to get out there.
Poor packing on uplift of last items because they wanted to get out of there damaged my goods but then I need to pay excess for my poor packing!
