One of the big problems with WoT is that many users trace one identifier and conflate it with an entire host, domain, gateway, ISP, or autonomous system, or simply click on the widget to rate "this site" as though one IP address = one source of good or bad stuff. As such AKAMAI, among others, may get painted with a broad brush of fear and hatred. This misfortune flows down as well as up, and fine upstanding "websites" are judged guilty by association through a process not merely blind but truly ignorant.
A person with a home or business in Washington DC does not necessarily deserve the same reputation as a randomly chosen congressperson.
AKAMAI's customers include Adobe, The American Red Cross, Audi, Autodesk, Best Buy, the Canadian Broadcast Corporation, the Charles Schwab Corporation, David's Bridal, E*TRADE, Facebook, FIFA, FOX Sports, the Federal Aviation Administration, IBM, IKEA, Investec Bank, MSN, MTV, NASDAQ, the NBA, NBC, Nintendo, Nomura Securities, Nordstom, Ottawa Police Service, Philps Medical Systems, SPAMfighter, Siemens, Starz Entertainment, The Recording Academy, Thomson Reuters, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Army, U.S. Census Bureau, The Department of Defense, U.S. Department of State, The Treasury Department, and The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, to name just a few. They provide leading internet security services like Prolexic and Kona. They may be the single largest CDN, delivering "between 15 to 30% of all web traffic" with "more than 200,000 servers in over 110 countries and...more than 1,400 networks around the world...[with] over 2 trillion daily Internet interactions...[and] daily Web traffic reaching more than 30 Terabits per second...enabl[ing] more than $250 billion in annual e-commerce...."
They're not the reason you have spam in your inbox or PUPs in your registry.

Good CDN site. The website is pretty clear about its service.

Too funny to see too many idiots believe Akamai is a malicious thing.
It's incredible that those people are rating websites.
They should make their own brain red flagged before rating a website.
Those real idiots shouldn't be connecting to the internet.
But I'm OK as those comments made me laugh. haha.
