I’m currently busy with a summer internship in Tokyo. This is the honest review of false marketing and advertising that Absolute Internship:
In regards to thing that we’re supposed to be included in this trip which is not:
-Breakfast (I included a screenshot from the pre-departure stating it’s included)
-Laundry (It was never communicated that we would have to not only buy cards to use laundry but also pay extra for washing, drying etc?)
-High speed internet, which is always disconnecting
-Toiletpaper? It was never communicated that we would have to buy toiletpaper and soap to clean our rooms
When I arrived in Tokyo there was a discomfort regarding my transfer that was waiting for me on the airport. I sent an email to Aiste a week before cancelling it as I couldn’t get private transport as requested.
-We were explicitly told not to take any linens but yet we didn’t even receive pillow cases in our room.
The above is really influencing the cost of the trip.
Referring to the “city tour” we had on Sunday. It really is a total rip-off seeing as I could barely hear anything and you don’t even get chance to take a decent photograph. After arriving at the Anime are we were told we had EXACTLY 10 minutes to look around and do some shopping, which is kind of impossible to in that amount of time. I can share my hesitance toward the upcoming trips and that I’m not sure whether it will be worth it.
The lack communication is not acceptable:
-Yesterday with happy hour we were to meet at a certain point at certain time. After reaching out and saying that I was on my way from work I got to the station with no one there ( only one other intern). We waited for 45 minutes in which I sent multiple messages to whom no one replied. I also called Aaron (coordinator) and he didn’t anwser. Eventually after 45 min he sent me a voice note claiming that THEY HAD LEFT WITHOUT ME and that the location changed and he would send me a pin. It’s not very professional leaving someone to wait almost an hour with no communication.
After getting to the location I phoned again stating that I don’t see the place he just said he’ll send me an email??I’m not sure whether an email will help me while wandering around in the dark. After another 10 minutes of standing outside he eventually came out to find me. When I got to the location and asked where I can get my metro top-up he claimed it had already been done and I missed it and that he can’t help me.
Who in this world does not do a head-count or at least informes someone when there leaving or changing locations?? I travelled 45min away from work especially to get the top-up after rushing to get there from my internship.
-We we’re set to go to company visit today. This morning I woke up to a message on line that was sent the night before (@ 11:45pm) stating that the meeting time for the company visit (which was arranged to be at 9)was now changed to 8:20. After waking up to a message I did not see the previous night I rushed to get finished and arrived at the meeting point at 8:29 and everyone was gone. Once again I contacted the coordinator a couple of times asking at which station I could meet them and that I was on my way, I also phoned him but no answer. As I couldn’t get hold of anyone I went to work.
He finally replied 7 HOURS LATER, which is not acceptable. Why don’t we have a support system in place?
Overall I can say that I’m definitely not happy with the service you’re providing. Whenever I have a problem or try to get in touch there is general feeling of your staff that implies I’m in the wrong, no reply, or just a general “please understand my situation too”.
Absolute provides false advertising!
Regarding my internship, it didn't match my experience and was not a learning environment as promised.
This whole trip feels like a massive waste of money and time seeing as I’m not really learning anything while being led astray to what is included and what not.
I still haven’t received my metro card top-up and am travelling on my own expense due to your staff not replying to me and making any effort to help me with the things that are supposed to be included.
I will not be bullied by staff or miscommunication. AI promises a certain level of service in your marketing, which is clearly not the case.
They basically steal your money !

This is my experience:
Only resort to AI if you are absolutely desperate
The companies that they link you with are like no-name companies which you could find and apply for an internship at without anyone’s help.
They don’t actually find any company for you. What really happens is, they have like a bunch of small no-name companies waiting to have someone, literally anyone, even without any experience and any knowledge of the job sent to them since no-one even thinks of applying there and then AI just throws their clients to those companies. That’s why they "find” a company for you like 1-2 days after you submit everything.
Reputable and even average companies have thousands of qualified applicants both foreign and local applying for internships every year, there’s a micro small chance that they would choose a person that payed $1K to an internship finding company to be “installed somewhere” in the city over one of thousand better qualified candidates. Sadly I didn't think about it earlier.
As for the service, right after you send the money to them you are done with. The way AI just completely stopped replying to me regarding some issues after I made the payment is just messed up.
