The two books I've ordered off this site came in good condition and were exactly as described. I think like with any used book company online, it's a gamble. This particular company appears to be a collection of different companies selling books under one middle man, which might explain why some people have a good experience versus a negative one.

I got myself a Vietnamese for beginners book from a shop in Canada that specialises in rare books. The product itself was expensive enough, especially when I had to pay in Australian dollar, but the delivery was also dear. It was worth it though, as they gave me the product I wanted exactly and it was packaged really well, wrapped up in three clear layers when I ripped open the parcel. Inside was the box, which included the book and the complimentary three audio CD's. I wasn't impressed with the fact that they didn't send the parcel with a tracking number, and the price was dear, but I got what I wanted in the end and it was worth the gamble overall. Not for online shoppers who are faint-hearted though. Shop with these guys at your own risk!

As long as your'e careful about the occasional scam its not bad. I mean i haven't shopped here for a while but I have bought a couple on here and they arrived even better than i thought they would be! I'm not sure about the rest but I am planning on buying about 40 dollars of books so lets see if it continues to work out...

I've placed multiple orders from here. Shipping can be a little slow. I make sure the sellers have good reviews, and i read the item condition description. They have always been as stated.

AbeBooks is very hit or miss when it comes to buying books from their numerous books sellers. I have orderd two out of print books from them with no problems yet other people seem to bash this site a lot. Why? Because they don't do their research before purchasing a book. So here are things you need to look out for,

1. Look at the sellers reviews and ratings.

2. Do not buy from sellers that use stock images and have a very vague description of the book itself, these are nearly always scams. Buy from book sellers that use their own photos, if they don't see if they have a very descriptive review of the book itself.

3. If you have no choice but to buy from a seller on AbeBooks that uses a stock photo and has a very vague description, email them and ask about the condition and if a tracking number will be supplied. If the seller responds in a short time and provides you these answers then you should be safe to go ahead and purchase it. If they don't, avoid buying from them as most likely it is a scam.

A month ago, I purchased two textbooks from AbeBooks, I was expecting to receive it around 11/12 of February and so I emailed through to them asking if there was any tracking number. A customer service rep got back to me within a day or two detailing why there is no tracking. She also advised that I can expect my order end of day on 12 February. I waited the whole day and nothing, so contacted the contact centre again. I saw her response the following day apologizing that my books may have been lost and that I'll be refunded. While I am panicked and disappointed that I'm not getting my books, I've found another solution of sourcing my books, the service I received was better than most. If looking to purchase from AbeBooks, Prices are great, it literally comes down to risk.

AbeBooks is an excellent place to find first edition and otherwise collectible books from third party sellers. The sellers here usually know what they're doing more than eBay sellers.

I have dealt with AbeBooks for over 10 years, and have always had a great experience. Until recently, when I encountered an unscrupulous Seller, "Murray Media". This seller has had universally bad reviews, but I went with the Seller because I trusted AbeBooks. For the sake of AbeBooks' reputation and the sake of its customers, I ask AbeBooks to remove scam artists from its list of Sellers. Immediately. AbeBooks resolved the problem (issuing a full refund), but the problem shouldn't exist. The only problem with AbeBooks IMHO is that they retain real scam artists on their "Sellers List". Buyer Beware. Many sellers are good. A few are bad.

After receiving several notices that they would not allow me to return
the book, I received an email from the book seller stating I could cut
the pages apart and then read them but to be sure to use a sharp knife. I
did not think this was a very good idea. I then received another email
stating they had reviewed the issues and decided (while they did not
need to) they were going to allow me to return it. They paid for
shipping. While it took some time it did get done. So for those people
that read my first review, I am glad to report they did step up to do
the right thing. I will consider ordering again. What I have
leaned is this: 1) Be very care about reading the description of the
book. If it says it's never been read and was published in 1908 (maybe
it didn't spend all it's time in a library ) 2) When you decide to
return the book be sure you select the right reason. Some reasons are
tagged as no refund and you will be out, unless you are blessed like I
was.

Good value for money

Couldn't be happier with Abe Books! They've become my go-to online bookstore thanks to their awesome client service and super fast delivery.

I especially buy rare editions on their site and titles that I simply cannot find elsewhere. I've never had any problem with their authenticity: everything is real and in great condition.

Look no further if you're looking for a terrific online book store. These guys are fantastic!

I was really suspicious before actually ordering from AbeBooks. The prices seemed too good to be true, and the site had so many bad reviews.
Yet I decided to go for it, and my order was delivered to me in about a week.The book was in excellent condition.

I was a bit in doubt whether they will deliver the book I had ordered but everything went perfect! Even though I live in a small town in Bulgaria the order came to here. It was late so I started corresponding with them and I was so delighted they were responding me in the same day and book finally was in my hands.

The book got lost while delivery, but they did refund me the money back

I ordered a book through AbeBooks and there supplier sent the wrong book. I then contacted AbeBooks and they in turn contacted the supplier to send me the correct book. The supplier wanted me to return the incorrect book before they would do anything. I then contacted AbeBooks and again then went to bate for me contacting the supplier and when the supplier didn't get back to them AbeBooks refunded my complete order including the shipping. I would recommend AbeBooks and would deal with them again.

P.S The supplier (Paperback Books) has since sent me an e-mail stating that they have resent the correct book so I am waiting to see if I receive it and if all goes well I will return the wrong book they sent and contact AbeBooks and have then recharge my account.

They shipped the book within two days of the order and I received the book several days later. The book arrived in pristine condition.

I've only used this website a few times and did not encounter any problems. Got what I ordered and in a decent amount of time.

We have ordered books from AbeBooks in the past without any problems. Recently I did order a book that I was charged for but the book never arrived. After working with customer service via email, they refunded my money. I have confidence that, if there are problems with an order, AbeBooks will resolve the situation fairly.

Thanks to this site, I can find my favorite old or out-of-print books at this wonderful site!

clearly not the site for textbooks, i'd avoid that one if i we're you, but for casual/enjoyable reading books, they are ridiculously cheap! i bought 5 books for all of $14 they were all in fine condition except one maybe- which had a falling apart cover, but its still readable and it was an old paper back anyways. not a bad deal all in all shipping was reasonably timed.
