Paid over $1000 for a web design contest and got nothing but bad designs from mostly entry level designers that don't care about quality of work ! Stay away from contests , designers don't follow your brief and submit irrelevant designs, stay away from guarantee prize because you will never get your money back !

Efficient contest, good service quality, very pleased with the end result of the final logo design, but way too many poor design proposals to go through

99designs is THE BEST platform for designers and customers. The quality control is very good. I wish them (99designs) more success in the future.

Money wasted. I paid $24.99 for a "sale" through my web host. I filled out the application three times. Twice it got lost with a chat window that kept coming up. The guy on the chat told me it would be better to call him. I called him. He said it was better to fill out the form. I filled out the form. By the time I paid I received three emails and presented with three drafts that had not taken the information on the form into consideration. I commented and was presented with two drafts the following day. Neither had taken the form into consideration. I was sent a long form and filled it out and received two more designs which were better. Thing is, I work with a very specific breed of animal and the designer just used generic clip art of the species, ignoring the photo I had attached to their forms three times. I really dislike clip art. I can use it to make a logo too. Why pay for a service when all I have to do is pull up clip art and smash it all together? By the time I repeated myself with the same comments I had made on the forms, I was over the process. It was obvious I wasn't being listened to. What a waste of time. Had anyone read the information provided, it would have saved some time at least. But even my e-mailed comments were not heeded. After I gave up I received an email saying I couldn't use the logo on my website because the "plan" I had purchased wasn't meant for that. Really? I purchased a logo through my web host that I can't use on my website? I had to pay more to use a b.s. logo that could have been made by a child. No way 99 designs. I have no intention of using it.

Great talent. I received some really good quality designs. The contest option is a great way to find the most suitable design for your project.

I would not use this company ever again.
We launched a logo competition for our healthcare business and wrote a very clear brief, and supplied several images of the type of things we liked.
What happened next was that we received around 3 designs, 2 of which had completely ignored the brief, and 1 which was terrible.
When additional designers contributed, rather than read the brief, they submitted slight variations on the designs of the first designer.
Rather than get around 30 original designs as we had hoped, we had around 4 separate designers supply around 30 between them, which all looked almost exactly the same.
We contacted 99 designs who offered to extend the contest however no further entries were submitted. We were also told that by guaranteeing a prize we would be more likely to get better designs, so we stupidly did, but not so.
When we finally approved a logo, we still haven't had the correct files being sent around 2 weeks after the designer has been paid. Several of the files have spelling errors (e.g. letters from post code and telephone number missing) and the letterhead we approved doesn't actually print in the same way as the image - there are huge gaps at the bottom of the page.
We are a professional company and thought we would be getting a bespoke professional service. What we have discovered is that a small number of amateur designers with little experience create fairly low quality designs.
Their customer service is terrible, I have sent them several emails and I have also forwarded them copies of the letterhead the designer sent to us outlining the issues and asking them to resolve them. They are very slow getting back and each response is the same "we're sure you can work with the designer to make amendments to the file"...
1) get quotes from graphic design companies first - make sure you view their work and that you like the types of logos they've produced. Most designers will happily talk with you about your idea for 15-30 minutes for free
2) if you go with 99 designs, make sure you do not select the guarantee payment option so that you can back out when you don't get what you're looking for

I was skeptical of using an online service for my company's logo. The designers were friendly, speedy, and talented. I had over 40 designs submitted and chose one within 4 days. The attention to the brief and to the messages I left was quick and the designers listened to my suggestions and made changes accordingly. I am proud of my design and am thankful to my designer, Luckproject99. I will use this service in the future.

I really am very happy with my new company logo design and the designer I worked with. The contest is great way to promote and have many different interpretations of designers' creative ideas that offers the client many options to choose from. I liked being given the options to choose from like a meal plan, so I feel satisfied with my "meal." I definitely AM and would highly recommend other potential clients looking to do the same! Thank you so much!

A trustworthy source recommended 99designs for a logo project. My expectations were high due to the recommender. Honestly, 99designs exceeded my expectations. Working with the freelancers was a breeze - their response time was on point, they were incorporating my suggestions quickly, and the quality of the designs was top notch. Within two days, I had a winner for the logo contest.
Overall, I enjoyed using 99designs for my logo project.

I've used 99designs 5+ times now, and have had pretty good results. I've done design contests for logos and business cards, and I've also hired designers directly for 1-on-1 projects.
You get what you pay for, so the contests with the bigger monetary amount are going to yield higher quality designs. That said, even $800 contests can have some submissions that are not that professional or what one would necessarily expect from a "top designer." But you'll usually get at least some submissions that are very high quality, and my 99designs engagements have generally resulted in logos/business cards that I was happy with and felt were worth the price.
A lot of companies claim "money back" policies and don't honor them, but when I followed up on this for a very expensive design contest, they issued a refund immediately. The experience with the contest itself wasn't great, as I did the platinum version and only got 5 submissions (it said to expect at least 60). However, given that they refunded it, I can't really complain too much.
In terms of competitors, Designhill has some fantastic artists. For the contest on 99designs where I only got 5 submissions, I posted the same brief on Designhill and got 100+ submissions (most very high quality). However, this could have been a bit of an anomaly. That said, 99designs isn't necessarily better than it's competitors, but it's fairly reliable and worth a try.

Wish I would have known about 99designs years ago. The process is super easy, the designers will come up with dozens of ideas and there are so many to work with. I will consult 99designs first for all my logo and design needs.

It's a sham. The quality of designs you get in the $300 competition is a joke. Brief not followed and so called designers spending a few minutes using a template. You get the same or better on fiverr or upwork for $20. Don't waste your time or money. They offered a $109 refund. Will dispute with PayPal as this isn't the bespoke service they described. Avoid. A huge waste of time and money.

We received many logo designs. The timeframe for the final round was less clear. A logo that we liked was withdrawn by the designer before we finished the process after we asked for a change. Our favorite logo never got the small change we requested. In the end we decided on a better one anyway.

Great first experience working with 99designs. It was exciting having the high number of designers involved in my project and the number of designs submitted to look at and work from. I will definitely look at using 99designs again in the future.

It is a shame that they have great options for design services, but they do a terrible job for your company or brand image.
I hired their services for my brand logo, I chose the one I liked, paid for it.
6 months later I realized that all the 50+ logos proposed during the contest are all over the internet..... is kind of a permanent contest of confusion to recognize the real one.... what a shame....
I called customer service and they were like an answering machine of responses.... they said is on the terms.....and they cannot do anything..... imagine how wants +50 different logos of your around the web.
Avoid this company..... they sacrificed professional guidelines, to gain visibility.
Hope this review if helpful for you to be aware.

The process and pricing worked fair, my heartburn is that they use images and logos they don't have rights to so you get buy the design then you have to buy the rights. This should be clarified up front however their contract purposefully obscures it.

Excellent site full of talented designers. So much better to tap into a worldwide pool of designers than simply to seek work from one. Incredibly satisfied with the logo designed to get the company going and fully intending to come back for a wide variety of design work.

I needed a logo for my first company I am starting, and I wasn't sure where to look. I did some research and found a few sites that offered different ways to purchase a pre-made logo or commission a custom one. However, 99designs.com seemed to be the most popular and professional option, and I'm happy to say that they helped me find exactly what I needed.
Not only do they have a fantastic user experience and a large pool of talented designers, but they also offer one of the easiest customer support services I have ever used--real human representatives answered all my calls within seconds, even outside my region's business hours! So I will highly recommend 99designs.com to anyone looking for a smooth process for commissioning unique art for their brand.
