SG Petch Durham - i bought a car from here a few years ago, took it on a test drive and everything was fine. Picked it up a week later after they valeted it etc. Once i got home and used it a bit i noticed the car would pull to the left excessively. Took it back to them and the service manager Darren said he would look at it, so i left it with them a few days and got the call to pick it back up, he said the car was now fine, i drove it up the street and it was still exactly the same. I went back in and told him it wasnt fine, he said leave it with me again, so again, a few days later i get a call to pick it up. Exactly the same, no change, his response was "all new Renault clios do this". I told him they dont, i asked for the store manager (i believe) who came out on a test drive with me and said yeah theres definitely something wrong. So after about a month of going back and forth and this bloke called Darren telling me theres nothing wrong, we finally found out that the wrong tyre was put on the left side which was causing the issue. 4 new tyres later and was running fine. So no "all renault clios dont do that". poor service.

DON'T GET A SERVICE HERE
I brought my first car last year (2019) and it was due for a service so I went to SG Petch in Durham. Worst mistake of my life!!!. I paid £300 for the long life service which is suppose to last 2 years. Firstly the mechanic at SG Petch in Durham left the rubber grommet off the crankcase ventilation pipe and lost the screw which caused me to have a warning on my car and and an air leak, with it being my first car and not very experienced with cars in general, it was really frustrating. The car was hissing and the revs were too high as a result of the mechanics negligence, so I had to pay a separate mechanic to fix it which cost me money. I contacted SG Petch about this and they agreed to pay me what I paid the mechanic. Unfortunately the f*** ups don't stop there. I recently realised my service book had 1 year put down instead of 2 (which I paid for) so I then had to ring SG Petch up again, if these problems weren't bad enough the customer service was terrible. I was constantly told in this 'Servicing team is busy, we'll call you back' cycle. It would be a miracle if they actually called you back. So I had to drive all the way back to SG Petch which costs money and time and mileage to rectify their mistake they did in my service book and put 2 years down instead of 1 (which will look dodgy to the person I eventually sell the car to). Oh it doesn't stop there unfortunately (like seriously how many f*** ups can one company get away with) My current problem is my car is now displaying the service is due light, so now I have to drive all the way back to SG Petch and get that changed to next year. Honestly SG Petch really need to hire people with better customer service skills and have more people on the phones so customers aren't waiting days on end for a single call back. Should definitely invest in getting mechanics that aren't negligent and can do their jobs properly too

Really helpful staff, very knowledgable about the cars and found us a great deal on a new Mazda CX-5. Tried a number of different cars and garages beforehand - others felt like we were almost rushed out/asked not to take too long in the test drive. These guys were different; I felt like they actually wanted to help us out, and took the time to go through all possible options with us (new car or nearly-new). Would hightly recommend them.

Darlington Branch. Service department.
Contacted them to book the car in for a diagnostic check. Told it would be around ten days before it could be seen. Double checked our diaries then called back to agree to the booking, etc.
Was told that the service manager will contact us to make the booking - he must be doing it via semaphore or interpretative dance, as no missed phone calls from him.
From reading other reviews of this branch's service dept. I have had a lucky escape!

Sales Manager very helpful. No pressure to buy. Deal done with the exception of some cosmetic repairs, a deep clean and service history update. Three weeks later on collection. The car not valeted to a good standard and service history was updated incorrectly. Manager agree to pay for another valet and get history corrected. After numerous e mails without any reply. I contacted customer services to lodge a complaint. Four weeks later I finally got my payment for the valet. Week five on still no sign of the corrected service history. I appreciate at the present time things are not normal but If SG Petch are willing to sell cars then their after sales and customer service needs to improve dramatically

Where do I start. So me and my partner bought a hyundia i30 3 year ago from the Middlesbrough branch. We both fell in love with this car straight away. A year later it was recalled and work was carried out to the front lower arm ect. We collected the car and everything seemed great. But over the last 6 month we noticed a slight knocking on the drivers side wheel. We took the car to our local garage as after awhile the knocking got louder. The mechanic said that the barings and mount had been damaged and needed replacing and that the parts where hyundia parts and we would have to contact the hyundia garage where we originally bought the vehicle from. We did this and bought the parts from them. Collected the next day and took the car into our local mechanic to fix the problem. We then recieved a phone call from him telling us he needed to show us something on the car. When we arrived at the garage he had shown that the problem was worse then he expected. That's because a nut hadn't been tightened properly on the mount and barings and it had damaged the full strut and that we where so lucky as the whole coil spring could of came through our bonnet if that nut fell off. At this point I felt sick to my stomach is I've been driving this car for nearly 3 year with children in it not knowing that at any point that could of happened. So after paying the extra money for the whole thing to be replaced the mechanic sent me photographic evidence and even stated in the invoice that due to the installation error from whoever's touched it last had caused this damage. Now the car had never had work done to it or been touched. Only by SG petch hyundia garage in Middlesbrough when we bought it and the recall. We contacted them to complain about this and they basically passed it all over to hyundia Who then decides not to take any blame as we should of noticed the knocking sooner? Now that garage rather sold us that car with that nut lose or when recalled they didnt install it correctly. Now if this was wear and tear I wouldn't be writing this review but the fact nobody is holding there hands up has made me do this. I will be taking this to trading standards and citizens advice.

The Darlington showroom salesman, Ross, was very attentive and kept me 'in the loop' every step of the way during a difficult time with the pandemic. He assisted with the allocation of my personalised number plate and gave me a good deal on my trade in. He was restricted on what he could do at pick up but that is perfectly understandable.

Finally getting round to reviewing a service visit to Durham branch, as we are all trapped in.
I had a part fitted which was perfect and a paint touch up again perfect. This was all really well done hence the reason I have given the 2 stars. The guy who did the work was spot on.
The let down was they washed my car and managed to put two big scratches down my unscratched bonnet and some smaller ones around the car. Having not used a dealer before I didn't know they were going to wash it, I always do my own.
Tried contacting them, two emails and no reply, no surprise really. Every other email was replied to immediately or I was phoned not this time as there was no money in it for them.
Not good to have the place I purchased the car being the ones to ruin it for me.

Purchased a used Fiat 500, excellent condition at a reasonable price. Customer service from Andrew was excellent, no pushing to buy extras and did everything he said he would. Seamless transaction, car spotlessly clean and serviced when we collected. The warranty given with the car (12 months RAC platinum), was also a great selling point.

Shaun Harker the Motability salesman was very helpful from start to finish . He made the whole process smooth and easy.
He sat in the car with me and explained how to use every function - and there are a lot of toys on this car !!
He called me after a couple of weeks to see if I was enjoying the car and to see if I needed any more help.
I would recommend SG Petch and in particular Shaun Harker to anyone thinking of getting a Motability car .
