I think it was courageous of Riviera Travel to go ahead with the holiday to Puglia, and quite brave of us to go during these difficult times. I have been going to Italy for years, on my own steam, never on a tour, and Puglia was an area I didn't know at all, so that was the reason I wanted to go. The landscape, the architecture, the food, I enjoyed all of it. Usually art is my focus and there aren't many paintings in Puglia, but the wide range of architecture made up for that. When I booked back in February the pandemic hadn't begun. I was new to tours and so glad I chose this option, because without Riviera Travel in charge I think it would have been a struggle, travelling around. The highlight for me was the visit to Matera, which I had read quite a lot about, including Carlo Levi's novel Christ Stopped at Eboli.
Then standards of safety on the trip were very high, which was reassuring, and the tour guide Sarah was always very informative and helpful. I think Riviera did the right thing in bringing us back a day early because of the threat of quarantine, even though in the end it didn't happen.

We were to go to Lake Como in early October but with the present situation in mind we decided to defer until next year. Riviera Travel were really helpful changing the dates and ensuring we had the hotel and facilitates of our choice. We have travelled with them before and are very happy with their customer service.

Cancellation of Riviera Travel trip to Lake Como due to Corona Virus was disappointing but member of Riviera Travel staff was most helpful and understanding. Arrangements were put in place to allow us to arrange another trip as and when we felt comfortable doing so. Delighted this has been done by efficient and helpful staff working from home during the pandemic. Well done Riviera Travel.

We had booked our tour for October 2020 but decided to transfer to October 2021 and emailed our request. No problems experienced, Riviera Travel arranged the change of date efficiently and without delay. We have travelled with Riviera on many occasions over the years and enjoyed wonderful holidays, and would recommend without hesitation.

Since my last correspondence re my review I have found out that Riviera had responsibly refunded the outstanding refund to the agents IGLU CRUISE on June 1st, therefore I must retract my low rating for them as they had adhered to their original statement. Now we await for Iglu to forward it (who stated that it was a delay from Riviera), and after many threats they have now stated that it should be fully refunded within six days, we now just wait and hope!

I first travelled with Riviera more than 30 years ago and haven't looked back - holidayed with them several times in the past few years. They pack an amazing amount into each all-inclusive trip, which you would have to pay extra for as 'add-ons' with any other tour company, so that all of the spectacular sites and really interesting venues are included all in one holiday. It's also a joy having all the 'logistics' taken care of by hugely knowledgeable, personable and reliable tour managers and drivers. The 'Cote D'azur/French Riviera' holiday last Autumn was absolutely excellent - with Nice, Monaco, Grasse (perfume factory), Antibes, St Paul de Vence, Cap Ferrat (the stunning villa Ephrussi & gardens), Menton and many other destinations included. Everything went so smoothly. I can't recommend it highly enough, so much so that I hope to re-visit the same (similar) tour later this year. The Riviera reservation staff have been so kind and helpful 'over and above', even though working from home in tough circumstances. Nothing is too much trouble to ensure the customer gets their dream holiday, even in the current difficult, uncertain times. Thanks Riviera, hope to be back travelling with you soon, but meanwhile have reserved for Spring 2021 too.

Having travelled with Riviera on previous occasions we were looking forward to our next trip in August. Unfortunately it is was not to be for obvious reasons, However Riviera were very helpful as time ticked by reducing the time before departure that the final balance was due on two occasions. They were also looking ahead and made it is very easy to re-book when it looked as though it may not be possible to travel this year. There are not many travel companies that have such high regard for their customers that they seek to help ease the burden in such difficult circumstances. The friendly staff have been excellent, helpful, knowledgeable and eager to ensure that the customer is satisfied and happy.
I would recommend Riviera to anyone without a second thought.

We had a holiday booked in August to Russia, but due to worries about Covid19 and how any holiday to Russia would look - even if we were allowed to travel we decided to take advantage of the offer to move our holiday - and we opted for the same one 12 months later. Unbelievably it was cheaper. Riviera are very reliable and fair and if things improve with the virus would certainly consider booking another holiday with them next year.

In 2019 my husband and I decided to join our friends who have done a number of Riviera holidays on a river cruise on the River Douro. We booked our holiday for April 24th 2020 and as it was our first experience of a river cruise and visiting Portugal we were doubly excited. Of course at that juncture neither us nor Riviera knew what lay ahead and that our plans and those of many other Riviera customers would be disrupted by Covid 19.
After our holiday was cancelled we discussed with our friends the options available to us and decided that we would have a full refund which was our right by law. A request to that effect was put to Rivera. Although the law states our money should be returned within 14 days as reasonable people we realised that considering the unprecedented situation that it might take a little longer. We did not anticipate however that Riviera would do everything in its power to stall us getting a refund and as far as we are aware as of July 1st we haven't received back a penny of our hard earned money. Our friends who booked the holiday have made numerous phone calls and sent emails to Riviera who each time promise a refund but it never materialises. This situation has put our friends in an impossible situation I can only imagine how embarrassed we would feel if it had been us who had encouraged them to travel with Riviera and this situation had arisen. You have let them and yourselves down Riviera!
Why is it that Saga gave my Aunt and Uncle an immediate refund when their cruise was cancelled?Why can Fred Olson refund our neighbours for their cruise even before they were due to travel but Riviera can't weeks after cruise date? Why does Riviera think it is morally acceptable to keep over £8000 of customer's money for weeks and weeks?
Hopefully we'll get our river cruise on the Douro one day but we won't be using Riviera and we certainly won't be recommending them either!

In these unprecedented times where so much is now so complicated, it was a breath of fresh air how our holiday booking was dealt with by Riviera Travel. They readily offered us an excellent alternative in 2021 with no change to the cost, which we were happy to accept. Well done Riviera Travel!!
