I dont think you will like my thoughts on your service.
We travelled on the 9.30 am over which was actually a lovely travel over but extremely busy and not everyone had a seat. Which then encouraged people we did not know to want to sit at our table as we had an empty seat. Which due to the current pandemic. We struggled with and sadly said to them that we didnt want them to sit near us..
Our travel home was a little more uncomfortable. We arrived and was loaded, no problem at all on to the 6pm. We all sat down at our table. my sister in law went up to get a drink for her son. A bottle of coke. No sooner had she sat down, a member of the staff team stormed over ( now i say stormed over as her body language was very aggressive) she instantly without asking any questioned said. YOU CANT DRINK THAT ON HERE we informed her that we knew this and it was for her son. She said but you were opening it.
Yes i am for my son. Said my sister in law.
Not once did she ask if anyone had a medical condition nor did she ask politly if we knew of the rule. She just instantly assumed we were going to break the rule before we had even done it.
We sat watching a whole family eat mc donalds and drink tea right behind us. And your staff member walked past them not saying a word to them.
Just us only.
This family got on after us, so i know she never spoke to them. But again walked passed them many times watching the mum dad and kids eat their food and drink their drinks.
Your staff need to be trained in how to approach someone and ask politely.
She had no person skilled and lacked the training she needed as she never even apologised, she just walked away.
If there is a rule for one. Then there should be a rule for all.
Also there is no social distancing on board.
Packed in like sardines.
I have always travelled with redfunnel but i must say. Wightlink looks a better deal to me.

the ferry staff are excellent, we had to change our vehicle at short notice and also the return sailing ,they could not have made tis any easier ,all staff at the port and aboard were very pleasant and approachable

Well organised, car recognition is excellent. It is unfortunate but understandable that to eat or drink you have to go outside, although that does not happen in cafes or restaurants. The booking system is usually good but it crashed just after it had taken my money and did not give me a booking. But I rebooked and sent an email and they replied promptly with an apology and refunded the money.

Had a pleasant trip to the island & return, the only thing i would change to keep customers happy is to allow customers to drink inside , resturants & cafe allow this & still maintain a szfe environment .

Excellent service as usual. This was my first venture off the Island since Covid-19, and I was anxious having heard from friends travelling via Wightlink that their onboard restaurants were open and no one was wearing masks as they all slowly ate and drank for the whole journey. I therefore decided to pay £5 extra (usually £10) to travel in the Signature Lounge. There was only 1 other passenger in the lounge. When I asked if the croissant and shortbread were still available the shocked waitress said no. They did not permit eating or drinking anywhere on board as masks had to be worn at all times. The tannoy confirmed this with clear explicit messages to keep masks on covering nose and mouth throughout the journey. Well done Red Funnel, I felt the safest I possibly could. Thank you.

5 stars were well earned by a team that had to cope with the adversity of 2 ferries suffering technical issues. The staff onboard, at the ports and in the call centre all coped admirably and maintained their helpful good humour throughout.

All the staff were very helpful and polite, and with the pandemic they were very up to date with rules and regulations and turned up early due to lack of traffic and was able to get on an earlier sailing.

Well organised and clear advice regarding Covid safety and general safety. Sadly infrequent evening services from Cowes to Southampton could lead to a change to Wight Link in future. We are regular users of the route and live in Fareham closer to Portsmouth but have been loyal to Red funnel for many years.
