I rented a car from Adelaide Airport and found the staff were very friendly and efficient, the car was very clean and due to Covid-19 regulations sanitized. I could not fault the service or the car.

Went on to rent a van as myself and my partner were moving house. We put in all our details and the website was coming up with an error, phoned customer services they advised it couldn’t be paid with a different name to the driver. We tried to pay with my partners card, still continually came up an error. Eventually we managed to book. We received email and text with our booking reference, registration and details of the vehicle. We drove to the site we were supposed to collect it from parked beside the vehicle, checked the app to say it had been cancelled ?we phoned the company to be spoken to in a disgusting manner from one of the advisors who kept shouting we weren’t listening to him and that we failed an Experian check? Despite the fact £60 pounds had been taken from our bank account. He wasn’t listening or even attempting to sort or issue basically had the attitude that we weren’t getting one. We hung up and called back and spoke to another advisor who explained the wrong address had been put in for the card, which was changed and then we had to put another payment through for the full amount as the other payment wasn’t able to be used. We had to wait on it being set up again as a new booking which meant we didn’t get the vehicle to 15minutes after our original booking time. We ran late for the way back, I phoned and spoke to an advisor saying we would be late, they advised they would put a note on thanks for letting them know! We were then charged £17 for running late, not to mention that the original payment we made won’t be refunded for 6-10 days. The company are an absolute joke, won’t be using again and would advise anyone to avoid either. Total scam.

I hired a car from Basel Airport, Switzerland on Sept. 22nd. I booked a small sized car, but I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived at the Hertz desk to find that I had been upgraded to the next level car which had a Sat Nav. built in as standard. Nadia was the person I dealt with at the Hertz desk and she was really really courteous and extremely helpful, I cannot recommend Hertz enough and I must say that Nadia is a great asset to the Hertz Group. I have hired cars from Hertz many times in the past and I am already planning to hire another car with them in the coming week.

I hired a car at short notice from Hertz at Gatwick Airport, UK and was met by Karolina at the rental desk and received outstanding customer service.
Karolina was incredibly friendly, professional, diligent and had great product knowledge, getting me on my way within 10 minutes.
She is a significant asset to Hertz.
Thank you

They are very unprofessional!!! Never again! The one in Arkansas in Little Rock. They charged me over 200 dollars more than what they told me over the phone. Then said they was going to report it stolen. Dumb ass b****es and I have 2 babies in the car with me as well. Their communication is off as f***ing awful business never the f*** again. The one by Rodney Parham and he was the manager he told me he managed the one in Conway too they all can kiss my f*** ass.

Hertz car hire is charging you before you have even spoken to anyone and you are not even aware of this. Try calling their 08433093053 number to hire a car and unknowingly you are being charged £0.85 per minute hence the reason after pressing numerous buttons and listening to all their spiel on a recording you are informed that they are extremely busy. If you choose to wait the longer it is the more they are making and more you are loosing. They want your business and have the audacity to charge this absorbent amount just to contact them without you being informed of this. Would I ever book with Hertz? Not on your life.

Picked up car from Holiday Inn, Lancaster. Staff were friendly and no problems with the car. Dropped off car in Oxford (Osney Mead) where the area was very scruffy looking and there was no obvious signage as what to do when returning the car. The staff member there was rude and unhelpful. The worst thing was 2 weeks later I got a charge of £102. After calling and emailing I found out it was for a parking fine for collecting the car from the Lancaster site (a car park operated by Parking Eye). Fortunately the staff member there arranged to refund the money but this should not have happened in the first place.

Used Hertz Manchester Piccadilly about 9 times now. They are great! Welcoming, very polite, efficient, clear about requirements. Always call me to check i'm on schedule and are understanding when delayed. They also were understanding when i called after pick up in horrendous weather and the dark and then discovered slight damage I couldn't see on pick up. Car is always clean and tidy. Drop off easy. Location easy. Most importantly they have never tried to mis-sell or push any extras on me which 4 other companies in very nearby location have, using bullying tactics and lies about what i needed. Hertz Piccadilly can be trusted

Really disappointed with this company - considering how large they are, the fact they need to hold onto my deposit for over a week after returning the vehicle and it having been accepted with no issues is incomprehensible.
I rented a car with friends in Zakynthos, and had great service from the employees at the airport. The car was returned on time and without issue. However, when I queried them about the hold on my card for the deposit, they informed me they had released it and it was up to my bank when to return the money to me.
Considering my bank has always been extremely quick with this (instant transactions), I queried them only to be told by my bank they had received no indication from Hertz the money was to be returned/the hold lifted. I have now had to submit a dispute on the transaction with my bank, as they cannot return the money to me for 30 days unless I lodge this dispute.
Hertz insisted the issue was with my bank, but quite frankly I've only ever had good dealings with my bank - and I can only assume they never returned the money in the process. Conversation with friends has indicated they do this regularly.
If you can use another company? Use another company.
EDIT: They have contacted me and provided me with a voucher and apologised for all the hassle. A review here was required to get a proper response from them however. I've changed the number of stars given as a result.

I hired a car from Hertz 3 weeks ago, a small Corsa sedan which was perfect for what I needed. Yesterday, I got a mail from Hertz saying I had a traffic violation. When looking at the detail, the two vehicles are CLEARLY not the same. The car that got fined is very clearly a van, and the license plate is completely different. Hertz has implemented this neat little feature where they give you the car details for your rental over email when you get it, which has also proved to be their downfall here. Clearly, they have received a fine on a vehicle and just picked a customer at random to pay it.
Completely unacceptable. This is like paying for the damages to somebody else's car, which I didn't even drive.
I will not be using them ever again, and I will strongly recommend to all my friends and family that they cannot be trusted.

Wouldn’t give a star if it wasn’t compulsory. Worst service ever! A month on and no deposit returned, no replies to multiple emails. Unhelpful staff who threaten to hang up the phone due to the fact that I am ‘irate’ - surely understandable why I may be irate considering if anyone chose to listen to me before making assumptions of situations that they would understand? In a time where people need money more than ever and Hertz and their staff think that it’s unimportant that I need MY money? I have just entered my unarranged overdraft and STILL when I call to try and speak to somebody, I am met with an unbothered member of staff! Oh NOT to mention that you rented a manual van to an automatic license holder (myself). So you may ‘get back on the road this summer’ but you won’t be getting your deposit back fast and it may just put you out of pocket! Thanks Hertz for causing me nothing but stress and adding to my anxiety! I hope that this has really helped your bottom line!

Shocking customer service, van had been left in an awful condition and no one had bothered to check. ignition key broke when I turned it in the lock about second time of using and there was no spare key within 200 miles (I was 3 mile's from original pick up) so had to wait for the AA to come (to be fair he was great!). Got van back to depot and I was charged for late return and for broken key £15 rental turned into £210 and no one has responded to my complaint - do not use this company

Again I have had one of the most unbelievable experiences with a car rental company. I requested a vehicle from them which they said was available however once I got there they gave me a different category of car that I wasn’t happy with, I took the car as I needed to get to and from work when it was time to return the car the branch was closed and they told me I had to travel to Manchester airport from Nottingham to exchange the vehicle they told me once I get to Manchester there was a wider variety of cars to choose from and the car I originally requested would be there how ever after a 2 and a half hour drive me and wife arrived and was treated like absolute scum they accused me and her of smoking in the car but neither of us smoke we have never smoked as we both suffer with asthma they abused there power and charged us an excess cleaning fee of £100 then the manager arrived with a cocky and cheeky attitude referring “do you want a vehicle or not” they then told us they don’t have any of the cars I would like and offered us the same car we already had in a different colour he then us to go and look elsewhere if we wasn’t happy but why would I drive all that way for the same car in a different colour! I went to the toilet and my wife waited in the room I came back and staff members had left at this point we realised we was stranded in Manchester we had to go to another car rental service at the airport which cost us £640 because it was so last minute they only had luxury vehicles available. That’s not the best part a week later I received an invoice of £217.10 plus another £6 they took out of my account for absolutely no reason and now I’m trying to contact them there phone lines are down. In a pandemic like this where we are already struggling to survive big companies like hertz are abusing there power and stealing from the poor something needs to change.

No problem with the car hire, but they charge me £46 for their time to give Civil Enforcement Ltd my details for a parking fine. What a scam/ripoff, how long does it take to look up details on a computer?

So don’t ever hire a car with Hertz or EasyCar.com. They charged us £92.52 online for the booking. But when we got to the Hertz/Thrifty desk they told us we’d need winter tyres and charged us an additional €210. Absolutely outrageous.

The Lie:
Rafal said Hertz fuel prices were the cheapest around. At £1.135 that’s true but when you add VAT it is £1.362. Petrol is currently £1.199.
The Scam:
I said I was driving back & forth to work only plus will probably return the car early.
Rafal recommends I get the fuel purchase option. Which is for the full tank, I can bring it back & Hertz will refill what I’ve used. He didn’t say anything about no refund for unused fuel. There is nothing on the flyers or receipts I was given that states that. That is pretty important information which should be WRITTEN & TOLD to the customer. If I knew that I would have emptied the tank.
Why would you recommend to someone a fuel tank of fuel if they have already told you they are not going to be doing much driving?
Bottom line:
I’ve been charged £61.46 in fuel for 74 miles!
Wish I read the other reviews before using this company. Never again.

Hertz UK: The. Worst. Ever.
At Oxford, "upgraded" us from a small SUV to a beast which I specifically didn't want (pain to manoeuvre/park, fuel gobbler) but couldn't provide me with the vehicle I'd ordered, confirmed & paid for. Now trying to rip us off with completely bogus damage claims after dropoff at Holyhead. Despite providing photographic and video recordings which completely refute their allegations, and grossly inadequate evidence to support their pathetic cash grab, they're sticking to their guns. (Surely you'd notice if you'd done £800 worth of damage to the car you're driving, across four separate panels plus killing a tyre?! It's a complete scam.)
We're covered by our fantastic travel insurer, but that's not the point - Hertz is attempting fraud. Avoid at all costs.

I am still going through the process of arguing with Hertz (used their car in Armenia) through the third party Rentalcars.
I was charged some money a month later after using the company and have no idea why. I wasn't notified neither told what for. I am still waiting for the response regarding the matter. My questions have been completely ignored about the transactions, whether I had some rubbish comments made by the company on my behalf.
My bank would not allow me to claim unauthorised translation until 14 days later..
After sending email about it to them, I am actually told that there will be another payment of 10 dollars for me bringing the car later than stated in the contract.
The thing is, on both days, the pick up day and drop off day, Hertz drivers were late for about half an hour or more and now I have to pay for it!!!! I have proofs but they are just ignoring it!!
DO NOT sign the contact if there is at least something that DOES not match the reality!!!!
I am absolutely SHOCKED!
I am still fighting with them and it is SO stressful!
WOULD never recommend to ANYBODY!

Prepare to wait a minimum of 7 days of email reply.
Basically once they've got your money they really don't want to deal with you. You've been warned

First of all I was given the wrong persons rental agreement. This was a GDPR breach as it had personal information of the other driver.
I noticed the problem as I was about to leave the car park (the rental date was wrong.) Having loaded up the car, fitted child seats etc. I was then required to go back to the terminal to get a new agreement, unpack the car, move the family into a different car.
I received completely generic, pro forma response to my complaint, utterly devoid of any real content.
All a very, very long way from the "Gold" service I signed up for.

This company is a one big SCAM.
Like professional scammers, their desk agents will add hidden charges and they will lie to you about what they are and tell you that are only there as a deposit. I would avoid Hertz as much possible. A company that tries to trick you is not one to do business with.
