Etsy is not legit. They are wicked to buyers. Once you pay for an item, they get hostile to you. Etsy doesn"t care about the safe delivery of item paid for by a customer. In December 2020, I bought and paid for a wrist watch I liked so much to Etsy in America. Etsy charged me double of what it would have cost me to send the wrist watch through DHL EXPRESS and despatched the wrist watch through USPS. I waited for 3 weeks to receive the wrist watch only to note at the end of the day that the wrist watch was lost in transit. I never received any wrist watch till date. I contacted Etsy to narrate my ordeal, Etsy answered me arrogantly and blocked me from any further communication. As I write today, I never received any wrist watch or my money paid to Etsy. They didn't help in any way, they didn't care, but rather blocked me from all communication. Etsy is wicked, mean, hostile and arrogant. They have no customer service, they are not caring. It's all a sham. I am narrating my experience for buyers to be aware and be very careful. At this time, it is better to have your money in your pocket than throwing it away like it happened to me!!!!!!

The company Etsy robs their artist. My wife and son make face mask and hats. Etsy closed down their site, which was bad but then kept over $1200 for products they sent out to customers. THEY KEPT THE MONEY, they didn't return in to the customers or my wife and Son. We have heard they have done this to many small businesses. #ETSY YOU SUCK!!!

If you’re a seller DO NOT sell on Etsy.
Etsy does not back up their sellers, I had a customers leave me a terrible review then THREATEN to come to my house and FIGHT ME!!! I told Etsy and they told me that didn’t go against their policy. OBVIOUSLY not for the seller.

Stay away from these you can set up an online account and start selling with them and they will email you about two weeks later saying they have closed your account with out no warnings and no explanation I was selling and was doing well till they closed my account with out an explanation and when I phoned customer services they would not tell me nothing apart from wait for an email which I did get but still no explanation don’t think they want your business

I ordered a package on October 21 from a France seller on Etsy. I could communicate with the seller for 2 weeks but after that the seller did not responded and the site disappeared from Etsy’s site.
After opening a case and Etsy checked the transaction I received back my money without any problem.
Etsy team was fast and helpful during the solving of this issue!

I bought an Etsy product , a waste paper basket which was shipped from Peru and arrived broken, as the outside was glass. the broken shards were in the basket itself so my guess is it was broken at some point in he Customs stage. I superglued it together, but then told Etsy what had happened when they asked for my comments. They sent me another one, after I sent them a picture of the broken one. It was great customer service , unexpectedly great. I never write reviews, but this was such terrific service I wanted to give them the credit they deserve.

Absolutely horrible experience, i don't even understand why they suspende my account, before i even started, and they don't give you any reason for that, this is the most mesirable plateform to sell, when you don't have the same chance as others , and it is not professional work from them, even the communication is very weak, i will never return to this plateform again, they treat sellers like animals.

ETSY FALSELY ADVERTISES AND LIES ABOUT CUSTOMER REQUESTS:
I recently ordered a gray terrycloth hat advertised on an Etsy web page. After a few days I received an email from somebody at Etsy named Andrew saying that color was not available. He suggested selecting another color or canceling the order for a refund. This struck me as a bait and switch maneuver, but I responded that I’d prefer to take a navy blue color, rather than cancel the order. The next day I received the following notice: “Cancellation reason provided by the shop owner: Buyer and shop owner agreed to cancel transaction.”
Apparently Andrew didn’t like my characterization of Etsy’s behavior, as he said, “We'll issue a refund as we'd prefer not to be accused of bait and switch.”
In other words, Etsy advertised a product for sale that they could not provide, then lied about my willingness to switch the order to a different color; I NEVER requested a cancellation. BUYER BEWARE

Etsy deactivated my husbands account for no reason at all. They stole $200 dollars of money he was owed and when he wrote to ask why, etsy took 3 weeks to respond to his emails saying only that they had deemed his account high risk. He was selling completely non-offensive wooden cutting boards and wine holders. Etsy is the worst. They do not care about people.

CHEATERS!! I ordered a sign which didn’t arrive and then after trying to speak to someone for 3 months, they tell me that it was only a picture I could download on my phone. Terrible customer service. A lot of things I’d put on hold to order and glad that I didn’t now. TIME WASTERS!!

I've started selling on Etsy 2 weeks ago. For the first 10 days, my shop was not visible to anyone else, and I had already paid $20 to Etsy. I sent Etsy an email, and they took 7 days to reply. After 2 days of being able to sell, my account was blocked without any reason. I decided then to close my shop. I paid my balance, and I sent Etsy an email asking then to close my account. After 2 days without a reply, they didn't delete the account, then they unblocked it without my consent and started running ads. They stole $37 from me while I was sleeping. Because of the ads that I didn't want, as I had asked for my account to be deleted, I got one sale that I won't fulfill. I am unable to cancel the order, as they want me to pay for it. The customer service is terrible, they ignore you and treat you badly. I won't give Etsy one more cent. Don't sell on Etsy, you will have zero support from them. They want to control your life, don't show your shop to anyone, block it, unblock it and steal from you while you sleep. Terrible company. I am sure they will go out of business soon, it's impossible to treat your customers this bad and get away with it.

I thought I would start Christmas shopping early and not wanting to go to shops I went on to Etsy for some different gifts . I purchased a beautiful Bluebell T- Light from Glazed Expressions glass art by Janice Locker. I was so delighted with it and also her personal customer service. I will certainly go back in the future. I also bought from a few other people and was very pleased with all my purchases.

I've been selling on Etsy for years. It was a genuine source of income. It was a real good company. Recently, (a couple of years) it has been having real bad practices, with fees charged on shipping, and FORCED 12-15% advertising expense.
It pretended to help with covid19 by delaying our fee payment for a month. which makes our fees double the next month.
Many postal services have stopped during covid19 and international sellers have to opt in for different courier services, services that cannot ship without a phone number. When brought it up with Etsy, they just say sorry, just sell locally. For a person that has very limited local sales, that is not much of a solution. Companies like eBay, offers an option to add customer phone numbers.
I have seen the subject mentioned in the Etsy Forum, but Etsy deletes comments of genuine sellers with genuine problems, while having their own people pretending to be sellers, to "help" you out. Users like JDCreativeHands, CraftyCornishMaids are just a few, that goes to thousands of Etsy forum post to post messages that supports Etsy with no real solutions, they seems to work for Etsy, but masquerade as a seller.
Try not to put all your eggs in the Etsy basket as one day it will all be broken.

I bought a vintage dress for the Kentucky Derby. The dress didn't fit at all and the picture suggested there was a matching hat. When I received my order there was not hat. I wasn't able to return the dress. It is important to READ the fine print.

Etsy suspended my store and told me to look for an email explaining why. There was no email explaining why, rather a message asking for me to fill out a survey about my experience. Wow. I sure filled that out. If they send more, I'll fill out more. This is unacceptable.
It has been many days now with no email. I have contacted their chat which said they could not help me, and after waiting on hold for an hour on the phone they also told me just to "wait for an email." When I ask a timeframe, they say they don't have one and just to extend my patience.
Anyway, no clue why my store was suspended. Nobody will tell me. This is the worst. I am having a very bad experience and keep reading online that other people have had the same thing happen!

Bottom line, Etsy is garbage! That sentiment is not aimed at the individual sellers on the site, but at the company itself.
They try to present themselves as a company that truly supports their sellers, but everything they do is geared toward their own financial interests and bottom line, and instead of putting a solid effort into actually supporting their sellers, they are too heavily focused on their buyers (which is self-defeating). There is a clear difference between words and actions, and though Etsy makes every effort to SAY it supports small businesses (aka. its sellers), its actions strongly suggest otherwise.
Additionally, as a "marketplace" they are supposed to, largely, be a neutral party, connecting seller with buyer and offering minor support. At least, that's the alibi they hide behind when the metaphorical sh** hits the fan, but they are far from neutral. In fact, they try to make a name for themselves by hoping on every biased political and social justice issue that arises. They've made their biased agenda quite clear, and, ironically, they are on track with an agenda that would ultimately harm small businesses and doesn't value individuality.
Now, my experiences with Etsy are purely as a seller. I've never purchased anything on the marketplace, but my experiences as a seller tell me that I wouldn't want to be a buyer, because I could never bring myself to support such a biased and unethical business.
Furthermore, their customer service is absolute garbage, right on par with AT&T's customer service, which is the standard for horrible customer service. They seem to go hire the most incompetent people they can find, who lack any ability to even remotely execute anything that resembles critical thinking. Additionally, wait periods are extremely long and responses tend to be cookie-cutter and, often times, unhelpful and/or irrelevant to matter at hand. If you ever decide your time isn't worth anything and you'd like to waste lots of it, submit a support ticket to Etsy.

Etsy along with every other major platform is super poopy when it comes to selling stuff.
It's literally like filling out a modern day job app. You just be able to describe it in moderation, and sell. If there's pictures then there's no need to ask the gosh damn color. Etsy has no right or privilege to know what shops I go through. Etsy is just a parasite like Facebook
