The Chosen - 15 June, Amazon Prime Video

The Chosen is a faith-based American drama television series that continues to portray biblical stories, maintaining a dedicated viewership. Created, directed, and co-written by filmmaker Dallas Jenkins, this multi-season series is the first of its kind about the life and ministry of Jesus of Nazareth. Set in Judaea and Galilee in the first century, the series depicts the life of Jesus and his Apostles, who regularly clash with the Romans and their military officials.

Season 1 was released back in 2019 and was successfully financed through Crowdfunding. The series has since been released to various streaming platforms, grossing over $120 million in its theatrical performances and watched by a staggering 280 million people, of whom a third are reported to be non-religious.
The Gilded Age - 22 June, HBO

The period drama made its return, offering a glimpse into the opulent lives of New York’s elite during the late 19th century. Fans of The Gilded Age can look forward to continued cinematic magic from the show’s esteemed creator, Julian Fellowes, who won awards as writer and creator for Downton Abbey, with impeccable attention to detail, historical accuracy, and extravagant costumes set against rich, full-scale sets.

Some TV critics have commented that the former thin waistlines, coinciding with the drama’s thin-to-date plotline, may finally be thickening as plotlines expand beyond the visual delights of the fashion, architecture, and culture of the New York nouveau riche society in the 1800s.

Meanwhile, Bertha, played by Carrie Coon, and on-screen husband George Russell, played by Morgan Spector continue to rise to the upper levels of society as sisters Agnes and Ada played by Christine Baranski and Cynthia Nixon, squabble over the turmoil and power of the ‘Lady of the House’.

Ironheart - 24 June, Disney+

Marvel's latest series introduced a new tech-savvy superhero, expanding the Marvel Cinematic Universe and attracting superhero enthusiasts. The series is a sideways sequel to Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, starring Dominique Thorne as the 19-year-old tech wiz character Riri Williams, who builds a suit of armor that rivals Iron Man’s. This time, however, she faces different kinds of home truths set to challenge her within her hometown. How many lines will she cross to accomplish her ultimate goal?
