Kaiju No. 8 Season 2 Coming Soon!

Kaiju No. 8 is a hit anime television series based on Naoya Matsumoto's manga series with the same title. Fans can look forward to a special episode called Hoshina’s Day Off that will air live on Crunchyroll on July 5 at 7:00 am, with the official second season kicking off on July 19.

In the second series, our hero, Kafka Hibino, enlists the Defense Force as an ally to assist in conquering the deadly creatures called Kaiju. Although he wanted to reconnect with his childhood friend, Mina Ashiro, their lives had taken them on different paths, but he soon reignites his passion to join Mina and save the world.

Shigeyuki Miya and Tomomi Kamiya direct Kaiju No. 8 with scripts written by Ichiro Okouchi. Fans are enjoying the blend of 2D and 3D animation, as well as the creation of dynamic action sequences, detailed backgrounds, and unique character designs, particularly in the kaiju battle scenes. Character designs and chief animation direction are by Tetsuya Nishio, art direction by Shinji Kimura, monster designs by Mahiro Maeda and music composed by Yuta Bandoh.

Critics praise the show's ability to balance intense action with character development and a compelling story set in the apocalyptic and dystopian world. Kafka’s character is older than many of his rivaling anime counterparts, embodying many typical masculine characteristics seen in anime and manga. Critics say his audience appeal stems from being both the committed and ideal protector, but a man who can also admit to his flaws and mistakes, making him a relatable underdog.
