Final Season of Big Mouth
Aaron Ren, 9 May 2025
Netflix’s R-rated series
Big Mouth, created by Nick Kroll, Andrew Goldberg, Mark Levin, and starring Nick Kroll, John Mulaney, and Jessi Klein, is back with a new and final season.
Based in suburban New York and inspired by the real-life friendship between Nick Kroll and Andrew Goldberg, this coming-of-age comedy series stems from their teenage years and the world of turmoil that comes with puberty.
With episode titles including ‘Ejaculation’, ‘Everybody Bleeds’, and ‘Am I Gay’, this final season continues with its trademark humor and candid exploration of puberty, sexuality, and ever-evolving chaotic hormones. With its mix of raunchy comedy, it also had thoughtful messages about growing up.
With eight seasons under its belt, the series was undeniably very well received by both critics and audiences, particularly for its honest and bold approach to puberty and sexuality, often highlighting some confronting but necessary conversations about adolescence, body changes, hormones, sexual identity, and mental health.
The voice cast features
Maya Rudolph, who brings humor and depth to her character, having won four Emmy Awards for her performance.
Criticisms for the series were primarily based on its crudeness and shock value, as noted by some viewers who found its reliance on vulgar humor more off-putting and excessive than comedic.
However, overall, Big Mouth has built a passionate fan base and is considered a trailblazer in animated adult content.
Following the conclusion of Big Mouth, several of its principal cast members have embarked on diverse and exciting projects.
Nick Kroll is working on his new animated series, Mating Season, which explores the romantic escapades of animals. He is also scheduled to perform at various venues, including the Great Outdoors Comedy Festival in Edmonton on July 19, 2025 . John Mulaney is hosting a 12-week live talk show on Netflix, featuring a mix of celebrity guests and eclectic experts. Maya Rudolph's production company has secured a multi-year content deal with Apple TV+.
